DVC guides spreading rumors?

Dean - the SSR is selling like hot cakes - I certainly don't think that DVC will stop while the guides (sales person) are having no problems selling them.

the Poly and the Cont same as when they opened - oh that is down right silly.

both have been through some major changes - the Polyn especially - it has added twice as many rooms - did away with their hair salon:( , changed the pool, changed and added the gift stores - even the front desk area has been changed at least twice over the years.....

the Cont has added the wings - did away with the movie theatre - darn it!!! and make the snack bar and seating alot bigger. changed their adult only pool - with lanes even - into the pool with slides....

when the polyn was adding those new building - we were there watching them - so don't tell these places haven't changed....

I work for a company, and the employees constantly spread rumors about future moves of the company, personnel changes, etc.

Now I am imagining a scenario. These same employees interface with the public who are hungry for news. My guess is that a lot of employee rumors would get out to the public.

The difference here is that most people who hear rumors about other things don't go post them on an internet board. But Disney information is always being sought as fodder for discussions. DVC rumors, of course, have the potential to affect all current and future owners, so it's natural that they will spread.

I guess what I'm trying to say in my convoluted manner is that sales people are human, and many humans love to share gossip and rumors.

And who knows....many people like to start rumors just to see how far they'll go! :p

I have had the golf card for many years now and have participated in a focus group and a paper survey on golf school interest. Both of these happened well after DI petered out, so I'm sure Disney is trying to figure out how to sustain a golf school long term like Marriott does with the Faldo school.

Interesting. An emphasis on getting the golfer was my thought when they first announced Eagle Pines. Plans for the attached hotel looked like a high-end golf club. Around that time Disney had also announced their deal with Tiger Woods. I agree with you that at some point I expect to see something that really goes after the golfer. They've made stabs at it but no concentrated effort.

I would really like to see DVC change the "cookie cutter mold" thay are using for the onsite DVC room layout. A different one would be a big plus.

I agree that SSR has put a serious kink in their EP plans... but there's still hope, long-term. EP was announced, before 9/11, and I don't think WDW is back to pre-9/11 attendance. I think they will have to make significant progress with attendance, before WDW takes on a new development as big as EP... It's a good plan, though...but the timing's not right.

I think the CR rumor is pretty strong, though... Re-developing the CR north-wing would allow WDW to rehab the CR complex, and generate new DVC revenue without risking WDW room over-capacity overall.

They DID change it.....once!:jester: That means the original units at OKW are the only ones not in the "cookie cutter" on-site mold, and are also large and cost less points. Maybe that's why OKW resales have all of a sudden become popular. Maybe a few folks have actually stayed and loved, like those of us who chose to own there.

Now DON'T TELL ANYONE ELSE!:jester:

I think the problem is the managment - I mean what kind of an answer is "no comment" - if 'NO" they should say "no" - then if necessary they can change their minds later......

I don't think the guides would start these rumors because there are people like me who won't add on at SSR because there is a chance of the Cont.....I would wait for the Cont. If enough people see or heard these rumors and like me can't afford a bunch of add ons - then I would think these rumors hurt the guides sales number not help it.

of course if I got told "the Cont is not going to part of the DVC" and I brought an add on at SSR and a couple of months later they decide to make Cont a DVC resort - boy would I be MAD!!!!

It probably doesn't help them any more than it does the DISers who spread rumors. It's just something to talk about.

Me too. I would love to see a DVC addition to either the Polynesian or Contemporary and wouldn't mourn the loss of Eagle Pines if it is in fact scrapped.

They have by introducing the ESPN Golf School. Now whether they can sustain it or not, we'll see.

By using the ESPN brand name they can capitalize on both it and golf. While I love golf, I see no reason for Disney to devote an entire DVC resort to the sport. But on the other hand, SSR isn't far removed as a golf resort. Maybe when it's finished the ESPN school will be moved there?

I still think the next DVC resort will be similar to the last three, where Disney uses existing infastructure to build. Therefore the CR rumor does hold some possibilities.

On my recent tour of SSR one of the interns voluntarily inform me that they are considering the blue prints for another resort. She went on to explain the SSR is selling out much faster than anticipated. She refused to say the location of the possible resort.

Time will tell if this is true.

If the CR is going to happen, it will be sooner rather than later. They have had a lot of problems recently, mainly the burst pipes which resulted in flooding! I would love to buy some add-on points there but I need to finish paying off my SSR first!

I like all the different points of views and ideas. It makes for interesting reading.

Does anyone have the EP concept drawings and/or can tell me where it is located compared to SSR or any of the parks? Thanks!

I agree. As previoulsy posted in other threads, I would like to see 1 Bdrms w/2 Queens instead of 1 King. I know this wouldn't be perfect for everyone but it would be nice to have a percentage of rooms with this option.

I'm sure many people are thinking: "Why not just reserve a studio?". Because I want the convenience of the kitchen/laundry facilities...that's why I bought into DVC.

No, but you cannot tell at the poly what was there from opening day and what was added on.

I think another DVC with the one bedrooms having two queen beds instead of the king would be a hit for all us with little kids. JMHO
Doubt it will happen unless they are losing sales, which doesn't appear to be the case. With the current set up it kinda forces you to use the two bedroom, thus making you buy more points. I'm sure this was done on purpose.

Also, does anyone have a link to some artist renderings of what Eagle Pines was supposed to look like?

Regardless where they build another one, it will be exciting cause it gives us another option to choose from!

Thanks for the link! I really like the concept drawings. Can you tell me where Eagle Pines Golf course is in relation to other resorts or attractions?

Thanks tjkraz. I think I've seen that before. It looks lovely. Weird to have already put enough thought into location, design, etc. and then not carry it out and switch quickly to building SSR.

Please excuse me, I'm not into golf - Where is Eagle Pines?
Is this the space and golf course across from the Speedway?

Shan: The one across from the race track is the Palm Course. Eagle Pines is on the road near Fort Wilderness. It is in the same area as Osprey Ridge and Bonnet Creek Golf Courses.

Tim,

Thanks for the link - I'd forgotten all about that press release. Interesting to note is that EP seems to have the same general "resort design" as SSR (or SSR is like EP ;)) - a main area with all the resort facilities, and spread out Villa buildings for all 600 of the rooms.
