DVC Disney Store discounts.

I got a magazine in the mail today from the DVC called "Vacation Magic." It is stated in it that DVC members get a 10% discount at the Disney Store on most items. I was not aware of that until I got this magazine. It says that if the CM at the store is not aware of the discount to ask to speak to the manager.

The 10% TDS discount has been part of the program since the beginning of DVC.

The discount is not good for Disney Dollars or admission media (although there are some uninformed TDS CM's who do mistakenly allow the ticket discount).

The DVC discount is even good for a few items where the DC discount does not apply.

I walked into the local DS on a whim a couple of months back. I saw a rack which said 75% off lowest price. There were two Buzz Lightyear soccer balls (I believe starting at $12.00, they had been marked down to $8.00 each).

My 4 yr old DS loves Buzz (although, interestingly he doesn't watch TV). I went to the register to pay and it cam to $4 and change. Then I saw my DVC card. I saved $.40 (I've saved A LOT more on other purchases). The point is, I was able to put a huge smile on my sons face and had an extra discount to put a smile on mine too!

The 10% discount DVC members receive at the Disney Stores is a nice benefit. I suspect that the Cast Members at the TDS don't appreciate being called "cashiers" since they are Cast Members just like other Disney employees. Also, as the comments state if you do not receive your DVC discount at a TDS, please contact Member Services. MS will forward your comments to the CM in charge of Member benefits. When Disney changed Magic Kingdom Club to Disney Club a few years ago, some CMs were not intimately familiar with all the changes.
