Hello! Wow, this is a great source for info! We have been considering DVC for 5 years now. We are going to WDW July 5th and staying for 2 weeks at the Yacht Club! We are wondering about any credit for our current stay if we sign up for DVC while there. We think we remember seeing a sign at a DVC Kiosk stating something like that last time.
Also, does anyone know the special offers that Disney is offering right now if we sign up? I know they change and was curious what they are now.
We are STRONGLY considering signing up for 160 pts at SSR.
Please let me know :)
Thanks a million.

Ok - let me save you a ton of cash. If you're going to buy SSR - buy RESALE. Unless you absolutely need to finance thru DVC there is NO REASON to buy SSR direct. You are going to pay much more than you need to.

I recently bought into DVC and went the resale route. I paid $68 per point, at the same time, thru DVC I would've paid in the $90s. Going resale easily saved me of $3-4K. Now the resale process may take 6-8 weeks from start to finish, whereas buying thru DVC gives you your points right away and gets you in the system - HOWEVER for over $3K I didn't mind waiting.

Once you close your resale, you enjoy all the same rights as someone that bought direct, so save yourself some money and buy SSR resale. Or, if you're set on spending $15K, you could buy about 215 SSR points resale for what you'd pay to buy 160 pts direct.

Going resale also allows you to buy fewer than 160 pts as well.

In case I haven't drilled home the point, I'll say it one more time - if you're going to buy SSR BUY RESALE.

There are situations where buying direct is better or at least negligible (BLT/AKV/GCV), but for SSR there's no reason to buy direct.

There are several resale brokers (including the sponsor above) that specialize in DVC that have listings online.

The credit for current stays ended several years ago. If you really want SSR, I recommend that you buy resale and save yourself some money.

Hi Jen,

Unfortunately, you would not get a credit for the amount that you have spent on a current ressie.

I am not sure if you what the current offer it, it just changed yesterday. I am sure someone on here knows the offer.

We got that offer when we joined - in 1997. I haven't seen it since.

Hi and Welcome to the DIS!

I notice you are staying two weeks in July at the Yacht Club - vacationing like that in Deluxe Resorts make you an excellent candidate for DVC. You would most likely be very happy purchasing DVC, and would enjoy many top notch vacations at a savings over what you are currently paying.

Please take a look around our DVC Boards, to get a good feel for the ownership, and please post if you have any further questions. :)
