DVC current offer

How many of you think we should go with the current offer to add points or wait it out for a few more months? i am correct in saying if i buy 110 more points @ SSR i get 10 off per point & 100 to use on next vacation & thats it correct?

Historically the offers available this time of year are the lowest. In fact, they are about due for a price increase in addition to lowering the value of the incentives. They normally raise prices every 8-10 months and we're over 10 months since the last one now.

The economy is probably adding some uncertainty at the moment. I suspect that's why a price increase hasn't been announced, and may not be announced in the near future. But whether they find it necessary to apply greater discounts remains to be seen.

You are correct that the current offer is $10 off plus the Developer's Points. I've heard that DVC is running out of Developer's Points, so they may be ending that particular promotion out of necessity. If they have to discount greater than the $10 off per point, one thing they could do is go to $15 off per point. When you consider an approximate value of $12 per point for the DPs, plus the fact that no dues are paid on those points, I think the current offering is much better than a price reduction of an additional $5 or even $10 per point.

I just purchased an additional 160 points at Saratoga Springs directly through Disney this past Sunday. Here is what I got with the current incentive: I received 160 points from last year and 160 developer points giving me 320 points immediately, free annual dues from last year, no closing costs, $10 discount per point($94 a point) and will receive another 160 points in my use year coming up in 2008. I checked around with several resales currently on the market and nobody could touch this deal. To my understanding, the current offer will not last much longer.

This is the same deal I was offered to buy in as a first time member two days ago (1/21). At AKV the deal was the same, but $8 discount per point instead of 10.

I just purchased on Friday Last week at SSR (new member) I also got 160 pts from June 07.
with another 160 in June 08

However, I only got 100 developer points with the member referral program and I did have to pay 250 for closing.

I thought Disney did not negotiate? I just received my paperwork yesterday and was about to sign everything but the last two post have me rethinking that.

Or is it to late now, or is the one post above just doing an ad-on which has different developer points

You may have only received 100 developer points and paid closing due to a member referral. My guess is the member is receiving some type of reward for the referral and Disney has to keep things balanced. My offer was a current member incentive.

I am not currently a DVC member, so it was not an add-on. I was told that I would get matching 2007 points without dues, my 2008 points, and 160 developer points for a total of 480 points to use in the next year (if I purchased 160 points). It was a June use year (I believe October if I choose AKV).

The price was $104 per point, but I could choose to sell the 2007 points back to DVC for $10 per point at SSR or $8 per point at AKV to lower to purchase price to $94 at SSR or $92 at AKV. If I did this there would only be my 2008 points and developer points for the first year for a total of 320.

The guide did say it was a limited time offer, and I'm not sure how long they are running it for.
