DVC Chit Chat Thread

I feel like the ROFR thread keeps going off the topic and I wanted to put my opinion somewhere so it's going here

I, personally, don't think I'd ever buy a stripped contract because there's no way to predict the future. Can you imagine if resale prices plummeted by the first time points were available? A hurricane/earthquake/fire can take out the resort before I ever get to stay there and I'll be on the hook for the costs of that? I'll pass.
However, I can "sort of" see the appeal of a contract that maybe is missing a year or even 2 (if it's possible to borrow from the third year) if you think/expect the closing to take a long time due to divorced sellers, international sellers, Aulani resale, etc.

Agree. 10000%

I’m losing track of what’s in and out of bounds to post here (sorry @Sandisw ) but yesterday we decided to explore a non-DVC resort just for fun - I hadn’t been to Port Orleans FQ in decades - the beignets lived up to the hype! Well worth the boat trip from DS.

POFQ was where we planned to stay.....until we purchased DVC. I'm a little sad we never did stay there. And I really just don't know if we ever will now. Those beignets look tasty!

It’s NOTHING like the Disneyland one….

We have a 5pm flight…. so…Guardians ILL, hit the DVC lounge to get some drinks and snacks, and then went over to the Boardwalk Community Hall to play video games, air hockey, and foosball until we caught a ride to the airport.

So is the Epcot lounge better or worse than the lounge at Disneyland? I need to make sure I have my expectations in check.

Aside from the meet and greet I’d say worse than DLR. The main reason is the lack of a bathroom imo. I really love the Epcot lounge but the bathroom at DLR lounge on a crowded day just makes me feel like I got the VIP bathroom hookup.

Realistically, what are good breakfast options when staying at BWV? It’ll be the morning after MM at HS, and we have brunch reservations at Ohana at 11:45, but looking for a reasonable option to hold us over until that point. Not sure we will make it to a park beforehand!

What are you looking for? I might head over to Boardwalk Deli for a quick breakfast and eat it in the room.

You could also stop by Beach Club/Yacht Club and grab a quick service item. Swan and Dolphin also provide breakfasts in the morning at Rosa Mexicana for example...

We had a good breakfast/brunch at the Italian restaurant on the boardwalk. It you plan on keeping the Ohana reservation, I'd just get stuff from the coffee shop near the lobby.

Just rent some DVC points and use the cash to stay a POFQ :)

I agree with @VGCgroupie. Epcot lounge is great, but the lack of bathrooms knocks it to number 2. It would be ahead of DL if it had bathrooms IMO.

Oooh I forgot about that coffee shop- probably exactly what we will be looking for. Not overly interested in venturing too far if my little one is still tired from the party!

We didn’t mind the quick service food from Boardwalk Deli.

Yes, and I’m kind of thinking this is the way we will go. Though I do have the dining plan this trip and will probably have QS credits to use…
We always get a 2.5 gallon of water, cereal, milk, yogurt, goldfish, apples, grapes, and croissants from Publix or Spouts to have on hand. I think we have used Instacart and Waterbutlers.
