DVC Booking Christmas Into New Year - odds?

VWL sold out for XMAS week in 2 weeks this year (10 months and 2 weeks) except for 1BR's which hung on a little longer in case you where wondering.

We booked two days before the end of the 7 month window for 14-28 December - 2 bedroom at OKW and we were fine. My sister is a school teacher and she has the same holiday problems.

We are on the Disney Wonder 12/31-1/4. We got our VWL reservations booked at the 6 mos. mark for 1/5-1/8. I know that is after New Years but we were thrilled to get it.

I would agree that you should buy at the resort where you want to stay. If you know that your times are limited, and you will use the home resort advantage, then by all means buy at the VWL, either resale or through Disney directly. I think the VWL is a great, great resort, and if the VAKL doesn't come out by January of this year, I am going to add on points at the VWL.

VWL is very lovely at Christmas and we stayed there two nights last Christmas and will be there for two nights this Christmas, after our cruise. This was booked at the seven month window.

We are SSR owners, and had studio ressies at SSR from 12/31 - 1/5. On May 2nd, we moved the first two nights to OKW. Two weeks later, on a lark, we called MS to inquire about BCV and VWL. Rooms were available, so the next day we called back and moved the 1/2-1/3 ressie to BCV, and the 1/4 ressie to VWL.
No problem - all within the seven month window!

Did you want 3 resorts in 5 days the week after XMAS, or is that all they had left?

I booked my studio for 12/31 to 1/3 just before the 7 month window opened (my confirmation says June 2nd).

I waited until the last minute of the VWL owners window because I wasn't sure if I could go. I'm still not sure I can go and there are probably others in the same situation. I'll either try and rent it or release it back into inventory (right before Thanksgiving if anyone is waitlisting) as soon as I'm sure I'm not going. It seems like you could reserve anytime from January 31st until June 1st safely with occasional periods where nothing is in inventory. At any given resort a percentage of the reservations have to be speculative in nature during the owners window so they'd be in a consistent state of release back into the system.

We decided since they were available, we would try these three.
As mentioned in the previous subject line, this is our DVC sampler.
Bottom line for OP, you can find occupancy at 7 months.
