I've been searching to find out if the DVC AP discount applies to DLR AP's as well as WDW AP. All I could find were the WDW discounts. Are there DVC discounts for DLR AP's? Is it $125 for a premium and $100 for all others or what?

Members save a whopping $20 on DL APs.

Wow, what a deal. Why doesn't everyone become a DVC owner just for that amazing discount  :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I seem to be trying to find any justification I can to be a DVC owner, but every possibility (some are pretty big stretches :rolleyes1) goes sour. It seems that if you're a DLR person versus a WDW person DVC just doesn't make sense. :sad1:

And no discount at all on renewals at DL.

I had hoped with the large increase of DL AP prices that DVC might have been able to negotiate a better price. Guess only WDW was biting at that one. :(

I think part of the equation is the number of available DVC units at each location.

At WDW, there are 2,800 to 4,000 DVC units available and only 48 (max of 71) at Disneyland. (The 2,800 and 48 numbers count 2-bedroom lock-offs as 1 unit. The 4,000 and 71 count a lock-off as 2 units).

Apparently, Disneyland doesn't feel that those few rooms are enough to extend much of a discount on APs.

Sadly, I am wondering if my DVC is worth it for me now with the HUGE price increase for tickets at DLR. If you add maintenance fees plus the cost of AP's for a family of four  you are dishing out thousands as a DVCer... I am terrible at math but even this one does not look right to me

I don't know if that plays in to it. For example DVC members get many of the same dining discounts at DL as AP holders - which is far more than at WDW. I wonder if DVC even has thought to try and get a larger discount. Maybe time for a "member request" to go in! :rotfl:

Pretty much this. If you don't live on the East Coast to get those $100 RT flights to MCO, it's hard to justify WDW.

It's been a loong time since I've been able to find any $100 RT airfares to Orlando from NY. I'd say at least 3 years if not longer. My latest searches for reputable airlines haven't come up with anything less than $120 one way.

We are DVC So Cal locals with Premium AP's so the discount option was the same ($20 off each AP be it so cal resident or DVC member) either way. No true monetary value in that BUT if enough points available, MORE fun to be had with multiple on property stays through out the year along with the AP's. Our 1st years as DVCer's have done once a year trip to WDW but since VGC we've use most of our points to stay there. Also going to Aulani next week! We are considering Premier passes for next year but it all depends on how we will choose to use our upcoming points & schedules (mostly my high school son's) Yet another good reason to stay close to home for easy weekend trips to DLR. If he needs to be @ school for something I just drive about 20 minutes back home then back to DLR. (already have done a few times before) No flying needed but cheaper to fly to WDW than Hawaii at the moment! Although still missing WDW!!

I didn't mind the difference in the AP discounts between DL and WDW back when DL APs were much cheaper. Now it's a different story, there's only $3 difference in a Deluxe DL vs. WDW AP after the discount. That's ridiculous!

I doubt we'll buy APs anymore and depending on how often we continue to go we may sell off some of our points.

How hard do you find it to get rooms at VGC? I would love to do a day or two here and there, but assume we would have to reserve WAY in advance. I have 6 children, so for a family time, we would have to have a 2 bedroom. Is it practical to be able to get a 2 bedroom at VGC for a night or two with a relatively short reservation window? This is not something I would necessarily plan months in advance.

Not THAT easy but on a rare occasion on off season I'm sure there are more 2 beds than studios available. If you live close by as we BOTH seem to the weekends are easier to plan for. In March I went on line to find a ressie for 4th of July but NO such luck in villas so kept on trying different weekends for ENTIRE summer (whatever was within our schedule & points) and 1 date for a 2 bed came up - Saturday Aug. 18th and I booked ASAP.
Thus now only leaving me with 8 points till 2013 - not much left in there as well but if I don't borrow, 2014 will give me my full 610 points! I usually call @ 7 month mark for VGC due to all the borrowing from our BCV or booking for VGC grand villa once a year for the last 3 years. We also don't mind using the points at DLH or PPH if needed but since no points left we sucked it up and used the AP discount for 1 room rent @ PPH on July 4th. My husband & I were just thinking what should we do soon? Do we want to go to WDW or stay local and get in short weekend or holiday stays to go with the AP's? We do know that if we ever had to sell some DVC points it would be BCV due to no other travel mode needed but a 20 minute drive down the freeway (this includes the toll road fast track through the OC)
I think you just have to keep checking on the on line reservations to see if any fits your needs. You definitely need a 2 bed for your family & in my opinion the 2 bed are more available than the lesser. Depending on your points I think this might work to your advantage. That's why we don't sweat the room size! We have more space to spread out for 4 or invite others to share the fun! You should really try the Grand Villa sometime if you haven't already! So much fun!! We made use of the place by some downtime away from the crowded parks (Memorial weekend) My friends brought there karaoke stuff (hooked up to the villa's TV & speakers) and poker set (used the LARGE dining table while watching the WOC show) It really does feel like you're home but with the Disney magic in your back yard to visit any time of the day!! Miss it already but have not been @ parks since then - even for a couple of hours visit! Oh well until our 2 summer weekends get here - Aulani coming up in 6 DAYS will just have to do!!
