DVC and Disney Store Discount question

I know that I may have missed this, but DW went to the Disney store here in Indianapolis on Sunday and they informed her that the DVC 10% discount was discontinued effective in March. Was there something in our monthly clubhouse that mentioned this or did we all et surprised with this one?

It was on the member website awhile ago:

"Information Regarding the Disney Store
The Disney Stores in North America have been purchased by The Children's Place and are no longer able to honor the 10% discount for Disney Vacation Club Members. (If you live in Europe or are traveling there soon, you will still receive your discount at Disney Stores in Europe.)"

It was mentioned in the newsletter that the Disney Store would no longer be giving the 10% discount, since the Disney Store is no longer owned by Disney. It was bought by the children's store chain "Children's Place".

there was nothing mentioned in any newsletter or on the website or anything. I only knew about it because I work at the disney store. I guess because it is now owned by the childrens place the did away with the discount.

It was discussed fairly extensively on this BBS and was on the website. I don't remember if it was in the clubhouse or Vacation Magic or not.

Did I see a post that stated that someone got a discount through DisneyDirect (catalog) for being DVC? Just curious?

Belle2002.... actually it was posted on the DVC website before we were told in the store. After I read it on the website I went to the store and asked if we had a MIB yet and they said no. About 3 days later we finally got a MIB.

A few people were given discounts through catalog sales, but it was done by mistake. Technically we're never had discounts other than the Disney stores themselves and on members days at the DVC resorts for DVC merchandise IN SOME CASES and for Rainforest merchandise.

For what its worth, we still get the DVC discount at the Disney Stores here in the UK as they haven't changed ownership.
Now all we need to find there is something worth buying!!!
