Are we sure "live" is the right adjective?
Seems more "dead" to me...
To me it is not a stretch - it is worthless and an insult. I'd rather them not even offer this at all. The special 4day-4park tickets for $200 was a better deal, even with the limited time activation. This is supposed to be a big celebration promo and it feels like an afterthought. The DVC special events are better than this - like the MK bash is like a MVMCP or MNSSHP which each cost about $70. But unless you planned to be there at the right time you're SOL.
Oh goodie....the "it's just a timeshare" rolled in...right on schedule.
Customer loyalty and commitment...is still a real thing.
When anybody says "all YOU bought is a timeshare"...even if I often agree with that...you identify YOU speak from a position of relative lack of knowledge.
So is this marketing, meaning members don't pay for it (thus your quote intention to sell timeshares) or a thanks to members and we pay for all of it.I spend over 11 months researching the + and - of DVC ownership before I purchased, so I would think I have plenty of "knowledge" on the subject. At any time I could have decided, no I'd rather pay at the time I want to travel and not buy a PREPAID vacation room (which in the end is all DVC is...it's not even on par with other timeshares with an expiration date). Perks, bonuses, and anything of that sort is NOT PART OF DVC. Yes, you SHOULD feel privileged and not insulted when any of this is offered to you. The fine print at the bottom of DVC promotions always say something along the lines of the intentions of selling a timeshare. You are also under no obligation to spend any money at the parks or visit them for that matter. Anything outside of points to use for staying in a room are OUTSIDE of the DVC obligation. Customer loyalty is YOUR expectation, not theirs and falls entirely on your lap.
I still don't know why anyone gets upset of what they offered. If they offered nothing, they'd probably receive less complaints. When things are offered that benefit me, I take advantage of it. But if not, it's not an expectation of mine....nor should it be. I suggest you do more research and second guess your purchase. I know my DVC has saved me money on my trips....and that is my perk. Today's prices....no, I would not have bought in as the savings just aren't there....but again, I've researched it so I would be knowledgeable on such things.

From being on both sides of the desk...respectfully...you need to hold Disney to a higher standard.
They'll steamroll you in the long run...and I don't want to be your wingman when you get pancaked.
Disney is and always will be selling perception as much as anything. That's what had allowed them to be as successful as they have and charge what they do. Can't separate the man from the myths.
It was never JUST about the math...the point.
By the way...11 months? Jeez...we thought about it a day and a half 10 years ago and have flipped the value of it 3x over now.

If i had the $ 10 years ago and had a family that visited Disney then (Was just getting started) I would not have taken so long....but at the time I bought they wanted $140 a point for BLT. Ended up at $95 resale, but yes I researched everything I could about everything. I wasn't dropping 12k on it without knowing what I was getting into. Plus I had family telling me it was scam lol.
Those dates arent random...they are strategic soft spots in the calendar that they're trying to fill out with lemmings.
The "last minute magic" section is very telling...this whole thing is to beef up the DVC occupancy. What funny is that they even NEED to try and do that? When did that start?
And I actually wrote to both guest communications at wdw and DVC and suggested they "cancel" the ticket offer because it's offensive.
I know how this will go:
Dvc will blame the "evil" ticket people saying they don't Control tickets...and guest com will refer me to DVC.
It would be frustrated if I didn't know their game...but instead will be worth some cheap jollies.
its 10000% a scam for new people to feel better about the extremely large purchase they just made....if they really really cared about members they would do the MK night 2 times a month for a whole year so people could actually use it but we all know that has a zero chance if happening.....just call a spade a spade.....
I would assume it has an embedded RFID chip.Oh, boy -- a Digital Membership card ... valid 3 months from the day you request it online. It has no obvious scan code or digital signature -- unless, perhaps, it is secretly coded into the blue image background? Might be ... but if not ... couldn't one easily modify the image and, thus, defeat the purpose of the new card format's expiration date?
The Digital card is simply a jpg file (an image file).I would assume it has an embedded RFID chip.
Here is crazy idea ... A timeshare is sold as pre-paying for tomorrows vacations at todays prices
How much will it cost to stay at the Beach Club in 2020? Probably much more than it costs today
Why not apply the same concept to park admissions. Call it a optional assessment (I am not a lawyer and do not pretend I am one)
You can pre-pay now to lock in today's park admission prices for the life of your DVC contract
Everytime you stay on points, every member of your party gets a length of stay park hopper pass
The devil is in the details and if priced right, it may work for some folks
Then you're not missing much...$10.65 a person. For those of us heading to WDW in the next 60 days who already bought MYW tickets we are out of luck. The deal does not apply to tickets already purchased unless you want to "upgrade" and add a day for free. But being that we are there for 10 days and only bought 9 day tickets you can't get the deal unless you were to add another day which doesn't help if I'm home when i can use it.
Disney Parks are packed. Why would Disney Tickets want to discount tickets to that extent? Supply and demand always sets prices.
