DVC 25th Anniversary Perks

To me it is not a stretch - it is worthless and an insult. I'd rather them not even offer this at all. The special 4day-4park tickets for $200 was a better deal, even with the limited time activation. This is supposed to be a big celebration promo and it feels like an afterthought. The DVC special events are better than this - like the MK bash is like a MVMCP or MNSSHP which each cost about $70. But unless you planned to be there at the right time you're SOL.

Those dates arent random...they are strategic soft spots in the calendar that they're trying to fill out with lemmings.

The "last minute magic" section is very telling...this whole thing is to beef up the DVC occupancy. What funny is that they even NEED to try and do that? When did that start?

And I actually wrote to both guest communications at wdw and DVC and suggested they "cancel" the ticket offer because it's offensive.

I know how this will go:

Dvc will blame the "evil" ticket people saying they don't Control tickets...and guest com will refer me to DVC.

It would be frustrated if I didn't know their game...but instead will be worth some cheap jollies.

Oh goodie....the "it's just a timeshare" rolled in...right on schedule.

Customer loyalty and commitment...is still a real thing.

When anybody says "all YOU bought is a timeshare"...even if I often agree with that...you identify YOU speak from a position of relative lack of knowledge.

I spend over 11 months researching the + and - of DVC ownership before I purchased, so I would think I have plenty of "knowledge" on the subject. At any time I could have decided, no I'd rather pay at the time I want to travel and not buy a PREPAID vacation room (which in the end is all DVC is...it's not even on par with other timeshares with an expiration date). Perks, bonuses, and anything of that sort is NOT PART OF DVC. Yes, you SHOULD feel privileged and not insulted when any of this is offered to you. The fine print at the bottom of DVC promotions always say something along the lines of the intentions of selling a timeshare. You are also under no obligation to spend any money at the parks or visit them for that matter. Anything outside of points to use for staying in a room are OUTSIDE of the DVC obligation. Customer loyalty is YOUR expectation, not theirs and falls entirely on your lap.

I still don't know why anyone gets upset of what they offered. If they offered nothing, they'd probably receive less complaints. When things are offered that benefit me, I take advantage of it. But if not, it's not an expectation of mine....nor should it be. I suggest you do more research and second guess your purchase. I know my DVC has saved me money on my trips....and that is my perk. Today's prices....no, I would not have bought in as the savings just aren't there....but again, I've researched it so I would be knowledgeable on such things.

So is this marketing, meaning members don't pay for it (thus your quote intention to sell timeshares) or a thanks to members and we pay for all of it.

From being on both sides of the desk...respectfully...you need to hold Disney to a higher standard.

They'll steamroll you in the long run...and I don't want to be your wingman when you get pancaked.

Disney is and always will be selling perception as much as anything. That's what had allowed them to be as successful as they have and charge what they do. Can't separate the man from the myths.

It was never JUST about the math...the point.

By the way...11 months? Jeez...we thought about it a day and a half 10 years ago and have flipped the value of it 3x over now.

If i had the $ 10 years ago and had a family that visited Disney then (Was just getting started) I would not have taken so long....but at the time I bought they wanted $140 a point for BLT. Ended up at $95 resale, but yes I researched everything I could about everything. I wasn't dropping 12k on it without knowing what I was getting into. Plus I had family telling me it was scam lol.

i think mine was $82 plus some perks at Saratoga and we didn't sweat the $14,000 at all...the good old days.

If I ever dip my toes in again...it will be older contracts on resale.

I wouldn't pay anywhere close to the current prices...certainly not more.

When they started to add $5 or $10 bucks to the prices once or even twice a year - yeah...I think Iger was there for that - it threw the math on its ear for me.

I'd like to buy points at poly...but a travel agent quoted me $243 with tax in the summer - 62% off - a couple weeks ago.

Cheaper than points...no dues.

Oh, boy -- a Digital Membership card ... valid 3 months from the day you request it online. It has no obvious scan code or digital signature -- unless, perhaps, it is secretly coded into the blue image background? Might be ... but if not ... couldn't one easily modify the image and, thus, defeat the purpose of the new card format's expiration date?

I will be writing to all the contacts I have acquired over the years. I have no problem with the special events, even though I will not be able to attend a single one, but the ticket offer is just offensive like you said. The $10 or $38 savings is not a SPECIAL. This will not make me buy the tickets and plan another trip. This kind of savings will make me take a break from Disney instead.

I've taken advantage of the last couple of AP deals they've offered and it gave us 3 years of multiple trips. We went down way more than if we had just the average ticket and Disney got a lot of our money in the long run. But our current PAPs are shortly expiring and we will take vacations elsewhere and our spending money is going with us.

I will return to Disney but not as often. I'm sure that my family of 3 will not be missed by Disney but we'll save some money in the long run.

For those of us heading to WDW in the next 60 days who already bought MYW tickets we are out of luck. The deal does not apply to tickets already purchased unless you want to "upgrade" and add a day for free. But being that we are there for 10 days and only bought 9 day tickets you can't get the deal unless you were to add another day which doesn't help if I'm home when i can use it.

its 10000% a scam for new people to feel better about the extremely large purchase they just made....if they really really cared about members they would do the MK night 2 times a month for a whole year so people could actually use it but we all know that has a zero chance if happening.....just call a spade a spade.....

Even if they could afford to do that, what makes you think Parks division would agree to that?

I guess I really must see things differently from the most of you. I bought a room at a discount and as long as I get that, since that is all I paid for, I am a happy customer. If they offer anything, even if I can't take advantage of it, I am not disappointed and I certainly did not expect it. Because honestly they don't have to offer anything.

So I guess all of you feel entitled which makes me understand more why so many Cast Members at Disney have unpleasant things to say about some DVC members because honestly some of you are sounding very spoiled and demanding.

I am sure they were in negotiations for what they got for months. They can't up and just take days away from the parks division to set up these extra MK nights anymore than they can set up their own ticket prices. It is all a very complicated process of DVC negotiating with other divisions. With the parks being packed I am surprised they got as much as they did.

If they could offer more and it not cost them anything, don't you think they would do it?

I can tell you this, if you go through life expecting more than what you actually purchased, you are going to be upset most of your life.

I would assume it has an embedded RFID chip.

Here is crazy idea ... A timeshare is sold as pre-paying for tomorrows vacations at todays prices
How much will it cost to stay at the Beach Club in 2020? Probably much more than it costs today

Why not apply the same concept to park admissions. Call it a optional assessment (I am not a lawyer and do not pretend I am one)

You can pre-pay now to lock in today's park admission prices for the life of your DVC contract

Everytime you stay on points, every member of your party gets a length of stay park hopper pass

The devil is in the details and if priced right, it may work for some folks

Disney Parks are packed. Why would Disney Tickets want to discount tickets to that extent? Supply and demand always sets prices.

Then you're not missing much...$10.65 a person.

I'm not even sure if that's enough to qualify as the "every little bit counts" category.

Define "packed"?

Were they packed today?

How about January 30? March 3? May 19th? August 21? September 22? November 15? December 6?

This "the parks are SOOOO crowded" is a complete myth. They haven't added on to handle the normal growth in population percentages...that's the problem.

But.."crowded" can only be applied to the entire year...not just peak days or weekends.

Go a June day now and compare Magic kingdom to a June day in 1986 or 1996...

It was WAYYY worse then.
