Question for those with more than one membership

Good morning and thanks for all the knowledge you've shared with me on this DVC journey!

I recently purchased my first contract resale at BLT and it is titled in only my name. I am planning to add a direct contract during the current incentives. I am considering having my husband on the new contract as he is retired military and the current military incentives are considerable ($15 per point!!). Also so he can qualify for member benefits without me. But this will mean two separate memberships.

How annoying is it having two memberships? I assume they will both show on the same login as everything Disney uses the same one? I know I will have to transfer points if I want to use them together and that's limited to once per year.

And does anyone know... if we decide to add his name to the resale contract later, will they remain two separate memberships or will Disney merge them into one?

I am 90% sure if you retitle the resale membership to the two of you, they will be combined as long as they are the same Use Year. It's even possible that they can help you make that happen as part of the sale, though I suspect they will instead refer you to the third party title company of your choice.

IMO this is the way. It might cost a few hundred dollars, but would be worth it in the long run.

As above, pay the extra couple hundred to add your husband to the original contract. This will make it so you avoid having to do transfers which are subject to limitation and can use your points together without having to involve member services.

It's mildly annoying. It's only an issue if you'r trying to book a very large point stay and need to transfer points. Other than that, it is just business as usual.
