DVC “Confessions”

I bought 7 one time use points today and had to look to see which resort they came from. I honestly felt a little ripped off at $20 per point knowing they came from Old Key West and thinking about the rental value of those points. lol. (I know one time use points are essentially all equivalent; it just made me laugh!)

I’m the exact opposite- I’ve gotten them from VGC the last 2yrs and it’s literally got me thinking I own there now😅. The “contract” stays in your home resorts area (when you’re in the booking area, anyway) until the UY is over. So for us, it’s been over a year that it seems like VGC is a home resort and it will be there until the end of July…wonder if it would be inappropriate to add it to my signature 🤔 😏

New confession: I just had to borrow points for the first time in 28 years. I've always had plenty of points to cover all my needs - I had 20 or so points rolled over from the 2024 use year to 2025 use year. I had already booked my first 2025 use-year trip for this December, but ended up staying a few extra days than I normally do for that trip (6 instead of 4). I had booked the first week of February already, and just went in and booked June and September for 2025 - all 1-bedrooms - but again, ended up doing an extra day on one of those trips, and found I used up all my 460 points. So I needed to tap into the next use year to cover, and ashamedly borrowed....2 POINTS!

Sounds like you could use a new small SAP contract. ;)

My OTUs came from the Grand Cal. Last place I ever expected. I should have quickly booked one night there 9 months out!
Same. We needed a few extra points to book one more night at Aulani this May. Not 100% sure but could be for OTU points VGC for the west and OKW for the east. Seems like the Disney IT systems are separate for the west and east. At least that's the response I got when at Aulani asking why the photo package could be bought from Disneyland or Aulani. All on the same west coast server.

I used to judge people that bought refillable mugs. But I bought one this past trip at Beach Club and it was great!
That was me, too, pre-DVC! Then came DVC, and freestyle machines (and flavored seltzer), and the special 50th and 100th anniversary mugs, and some 10-day stays during covid....

Current confessions:
I still look at VGC resale contracts even though we have more than enough points.

I fantasize about grilling steaks and picnicking with my family (like I did with my parents at their more traditional timeshares), but then I'm like, "a reservation for Topolino's just opened up! You have 5 minutes left in the pool and then we have to go!!!!" and my kids are like, "can we shut down Epcot at extra evening hours by riding GotG AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE"

More of a Disney confession than DVC specifically, but...

No judgment to others...

I've never been inside a Disney park before 10am, maybe even 11. 😴

I'm amazed that people "Rope Drop" even though I am always up by 7am, usually earlier. :coffee:
I've never stood in a line to meet a person dressed as a Disney character and really am amazed by the whole phenomenon. :hourglass

I'd love to hear your rope drop experience when you finally try it. I didn't do it for the first few years and once I did I never went back to not RD. It's been 10 years of RD fam time.
