Dumbo FP or Queue

I am trying to figure out our touring plans. Will spend 2 days at MK. The first day we plan to spend the morning in Fantasyland and the 2nd morning we plan to do Tomorrowland, fitting everything else in the park in during leftover time in the afternoons/evenings. And both of those days have early EMH. I was planning on getting a FP for Dumbo at some point but I read that the queue is really cool and you bypass it if you get a FP. My kids are 9, 5, 5 and 1. Do you think the kids would rather play in the playarea than not have to wait and use a FP? Should I use FPs for other rides/attractions and not bother with it for Dumbo since the kids wouldn't mind the wait? We will have 5 other adults with us so I don't want to make them wait unnecessarily just so my kids can play...

I think it's worth and part of the experience.... skip the fastpass on that one.

I agree. My 4 and 8 year olds loved the play area. We went during a slow time of year, so FP's weren't necessary, but we stayed and played anyway because it was so much fun for them.

I think it depends on your touring style. If you are go with the flow types that are willing to wait while your kids play FOREVER on the Dumbo playground, then go through the stand-by line. This could be a very good activity to do while killing time waiting for another fastpass. If however you don't want to get stuck in the playground for 45 minutes, take your kids through the fast pass line and hope they don't even notice the playground.

I personally do some of both. My son loves the playground, he just turned 3, we were in there for 45 minutes last trip, but we were in no rush. The only lousy part was that you kind of get a neck ache trying to keep track of your kids in all the over head netting.

Another thing to consider is that we left our weeklong trip with 8 'surprise' fastpasses for dumbo that got spit out when we got fastpasses for other rides like winnie the pooh and peterpan. This may not happen as much during busier times though.

My boys (6 & 8) definietely liked playing in the play area. When we went in December I did not realize that you did not get to play if you had a FP and the boys were disappointed. We had to get back in line after the ride and go into the play area, where we ended up turning in our buzzer and leaving through the side door since they were not interested in a second ride, just playing. So I would say if you have the time go through the queue.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I appreciate it! I may see how my itinerary plays out once I get it down on paper. I like to stick to a pretty set schedule and dont want to waste time while the kids play. If it is necssary to wait, we will. But if I can avoid waiting I would much rather do that!
