Duggar surprise?

The only thing surprising about this thread is that there are this many people who still don't get their stance on children and birth control.:confused3 They've been pretty clear on their beliefs.

Eventually, just because of biology, there will not be anymore children. It is true that some believe it is God's will and there should be no birth control, sterilization etc. I agree with another that posted they seem to be able to care for their children financially so I kinda feel like its their business.

But, I do hope that everything goes o.k. this time for momma and baby, and I hope that 20 is enough in the grand scheme of things. It has to be scary for the other kids though if they are aware how sick mom was in the last pregnancy.

I was just thinking - how is this a "Surprise" - I'm not surprised at all. In fact, I think a real surprise would be for them to say "We are NOT having any more babies"

Ay yi yi....

At some point, you'd think common sense and self preservation for Michelle would kick in.

Obviously, that hasn't happened yet.

Here's a thought - how 'bout they stop "doing it"? Abstinence is the ultimate birth control.

I love the Duggar family and watching their show. And really, I have never seen or heard anything from the children that is out of the ordinary - but I suppose they could edit that out of the TV show. ;)

At some point, the Duggar couple should realize that God did not intend for them to keep having children but to care for the ones that they do have. Perhaps they need counseling on natural birth control methods if they don't want to interfere by using condoms, etc. So what is the record for live births in the Guinness book? Maybe they are trying to break that record or something. I wonder what their children think of the news? If it was me, I would be crying if I was one of the older ones because they are the ones that take care of the younger ones. :sad2:

Maybe Grandma and Grandpa should adopt their titles and stop trying to be super mom and dad. Okay, now I'm getting mad at the Duggar family and I said I liked them, but I guess you can like someone without agreeing with their choices.
The Duggar family believes that if God didn't want them to have any more children that He will prevent it.

Many women stay at home and raise their kids regardless of how many or how few they have. Full time stay at home moms with one, two, three kids are not unheard of!

On another note, I have a friend with 8 kids (there's one set of twins, ages range from 18 to 2 yo) and she and her husband both work full time jobs. Go figure.
I agree.

Don't agree with this. Why does she not have common sense? Just because you wouldn't want 20 children doesn't mean those that do don't have common sense. Would I want 20 children. Absolutely not! But, I think it is Michelle's (and everyone else's) right to decide how many they want. Again, I have no place judging the decisions of others.

See this is where you are wrong. When the Duggars decide to announce their pregnancy on national TV and parade their family and their lifestyle around for the cameras so the public can watch, they have given us "the place" to judge their decisions.
So go ahead, judge away ;)

I get it. I just don't believe it. I believe she's mentally ill.

It is her right. And if Michelle and the baby end up dead, they have no one to blame but themselves for being so stupid and reckless.

God also gave people brains to think for themselves ~ maybe it's time for the Duggars to start using theirs instead of other body parts.

Yeah ... He almost prevented it with the last baby because Michelle almost died. Is almost dying not a huge enough sign that maybe God doesn't want you to have more?

ETA that I just heard that their kids have a schedule for quiet time with Mom and Dad. Shouldn't that happen every day and not just when your name comes up on a calendar?

While I do agree that it is Michelle's right to decide on how many children she and Jim Bob want to have I do think that once you go on television, announce your family's lives on the news and basically make a claim to fame based on how many kids you can pop out there is some right to judgement. I do not agree with what the couple are doing and I think it is very selfish to the other children and I don't really feel that they have thought of the heavy risk to Michelle and the child's health.

Jim Bob is a creeper, always. I recall him saying Michelle had "baggage" from a previous boy in high school that she kissed, ooh she kissed someone, i'd hate to think what he would think about my "baggage" lol.

Michele has issues seriously. She loves the idea of bieng pregnant-i think she think it defines who she is.

Yes, I know that they leave it up to God,but honestly I don't think God wants them to keep doing that especially what happened with Josie. but you can't fix stupid.

I think for them, she'll actually have to die. It appears that as long as she is capable of conceiving and carrying a child they will continue to procreate. It's truly disturbing.

I don't care how well-behaved and decent and Godly that family is,
Are they that well-behaved? I don't watch the show anymore. I did see them on Say Yes to the Dress, and they were awful. Granted, little kids in a bridle shop can get antsy. But, when my kids were young they WERE able to behave, and if they didn't, I removed them from the situation. Lots of times when I've seen these kids, they seem a bit out of control.
Children's Services needs to start stopping by for suprise visits.
 Why??? I don't agree with their choices and lifestyle, but they're not abusive.
You know, back in the day there were actually posters who defended the Duggar lifestyle. Where did they all go?
How many kids ago? I think I might have been one of them. I guess when it comes down to it, my opinion or not about their choices, I would defend their right to them.

I've been a SAHM for 20 years now, and at this point, don't have ANY kids at home! But, I will soon need to be available for Grandma duty.
I am just shaking my head because I don't know when they find the time to MAKE these babies.
While the older kids are watching the younger children.

True. And honestly, I don't (IMHO) think that they're just letting things happening; I think they're making sure it does. Again...JMHO.

Death would be the ultimate sign that God doesn't want you to have any more kids -- that's for sure!

They set up their home as a church for the tax deductions. I would consider that "mooching".

Their home as a church? Are you serious? Because they have 19 kids, that's considered their congregation?

That really takes the cake! Hmmm ... I wonder if I can become an ordained minister and set my home up as a church for tax deductions???

Im sorry but she just doesn't know the difference between mothering and just giving birth. No one can convince me that these 19-20 kids have had a real mother. There is no way you can take care of this tribe and give these kids the attention they need when you 1) have to spread is around this many and 2) you are always pregnant.

I keep saying 20 in my head, but heck, after 19, what's one more? Geesh!

I completely agree with you.

This announcement did not surprise me one bit.
