Drunk People at Epcot

Having done it a couple of times, I can say that the key to a successful drink-around-the-world tour is to take your time, eat with at least every other drink, and drink plenty of water in addition to whatever adult beverages you choose to sample. No need for anyone to get sloppy or obnoxious if you do it that way.

I am a part time bartender and also have run several successful beer tasting tours in the Philly area - pretty much every bar we visit is always glad to see our tour come back because they know we aren't going to be any trouble.

I have not been to the Food & Wine fest yet,but we are going this Nov. I guess any where you serve alcohol you can run into that problem. Is it just me or does it sound like as long as they have cash (room card)the drinks keep flowing? And yes I do drink & I'll have to try the slushies.:thumbsup2 :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I just LOVE beer and have quite a bit while at Epcot and there are probably quite a few more like me out there. That doesn't mean it's OK to get drunk, but if they took away F&W and stopped serving alcohol in Epcot, there would be a lot fewer guests. Having said that, I've never seen anyone there who was obviously drunk.

We were passing by the F&W festival in November and saw quite a few drunks. There was a bunch of girls and guys standing around that could barely stand and they were slapping each other and laughing hysterically.

Then we were in the American Adventure, and a bunch of ladies sat behind us that obviously had too much to drink, and they were making kind of dirty comments about the figures along the walls. Some of the comments were kind of funny if my kids weren't sitting right there! They got very loud and were laughing until someone shushed them and then they were quiet.

Out of all the times I've been to Epcot I've only seen a number of drunk people once. And that was during a very busy night at the Wine festival. Sure I've seen a drunk person here but thankfully I've never seen anyone become a problem.

We just returned about 10 days ago and I saw more drunks on this trip than all other prior trips combined. The last Saturday night at Epcot actually shocked me because this one group was in France, very drunk and using horrible language. They were really loud and one guy was just standing, throwing his head back and screaming the F word over and over. It wasn't even 6pm at the time.

Of course, I did see them when I was standing in line to get my very own slushie.

3 words: New Year's Eve. We were there for NYE in 2002 and 2003 and saw a bunch of people in the UK with their half-yards, and even saw a couple of people hanging from a lamp post. But everyone was having fun celebrating the holiday - I didn't see any obnoxious drunks.

Last time we were at F&W festival we made the mistake of going to Epcot on Sat night. We saw a lot of drunks, sloppy obnoxous ones, including one that fell down and wiped out my daughter, then had the nerve to laugh about it. I was not amused.

Next time we'll be avoiding F&W on the weekend nites. I got the impression (perhaps wrongly?) that the people doing the heavy drinking were locals. Maybe that's why they could afford it?

I'll be avoiding the F&W on the weekend nights from now on.

You are so right, that's why he didn't allow this in the parks. It's for families to enjoy not a Frat House Reunion. I wished it wasn't allowed at all in any park.

You cant take Beer from the Germans. Thats what keeps us from starting another war. LoL I think they just need to teach CMS how to say when. Personally Im drinking around the world next Tuesday the 12th I invite any to try and keep up:woohoo:

As "locals" we have seen the opposite. We see the tourists that travel to EPCOT just to get drunk :confused3. (identified by the loud cell phone conversations to friends "back home" that start out "dude! I am so wasted!") We see the "Drunks around the world in EPCOT", the "Hop off the monorail at a hotel bar, drink and on to the next one". It is not fun to be stuck on a monorail with a puking drunk, nor is it fun to be on the monorail with the "loud, angry, swearing drunk". We also do not enjoy the ummm.... shall we say "horny" drunks who attempt to "score" (In front of children) on the monorail!

So we very rarely stay in the parks until evening in the hopes of avoiding most of these folks. We also do not go anywhere near EPCOT during food and wine. :sad2:

The weekend my wife and i got engaged we did Drinking Around the World. It was fun and she was kicking my you know what by the time we got to japan. I still had two beers in my hand and she was done, lol. It's fun thing to do since you don't have to get behind a wheel (except test track which we did on our way out, lol that was crazy). Me and her were laughing and just having a good time. We weren't screaming and cussing or anything like that. As long as you have respect for others and can control yourself, I don't see a problem with getting smashed at EPCOT... just have respect for your surroundings

you know I would say that I saw a lot of intoxicated people, however I did not run into any that were particularly disruptive. I thought it was fun watching people enjoy themselves. The best part was after me and my parents went to Biergarten for dinner, and my mother who does not drink regularly was tipsy after 1/2 liter of the spaten optimator(dark beer :))

I don't see anything wrong with having a few drinks and maybe getting a little toasty at Epcot, as long as you are still in control. I'm not pleased with the falling down/throwing up drunks, but DH and I love to walk around the world and have a few drinks. Its one of the few times we get to drink together, because no one has to drive home. I see nothing wrong with knocking back a few, after all it is a vacation. :drinking1

Just wait until the new tequila bar opens in the Mexico pavilion! :drinking1 :rotfl2:

Ok.. to heck with it.

I can't salvage this thread or make it make any sense after I delete the stuff that's offensive and the stuff that quotes it, or responds to it directly.

In the end, I just deleted it all. If I deleted your response post, I'm sorry.. but I just got tired of trying to figure out what was ok and what wasn't.

This is a good time to remind everyone that it's ok to disagree with your fellow posters, it is absolutely NOT ok to call them names or be disrespectful.

I guess we can add another topic to refillable mugs, pool hopping and leaving a line to pee... ;)

This thread is CLOSED.
