Hi everyone,

We're travelling in August. Will have a car and will be staying at the Poly for the first time! :tiptoe:
We'll also have the DDP. Family is me, hubby, dd14, ds9. Family isn't really picky with food (love steak, seafood), but not used to special spicing.
Booked all my ADRs a while back, but of course, as I plan, I'm rethinking. I've adjusted a few and I think they're better. The only one that's still bugging me is Boma.

Right now we're booked for Boma on a MK touring day. Originally thought it would be nice to try as we never have and would like to see AKL as well. I'm unsure about the food with my family (not all are into interesting spices), unsure about the travel time being worth it... we'd like to return to the park after dinner and a short break that day as MK is open until midnight. Nothing appeals to us at MK though. Already doing BOG lunch on our other MK day.
We're already eating at Ohana and Kona on other nights. Soooo, what I'm asking for are suggestions.

Do we try the Grand Floridian Café? Is Cape May too hard to get to? The Wave?

Sorry for the long-windedness! Thank you!!!:worship:

I love Boma! I prefer breakfast because its just amazing lol. It will take a chunk of time out travel wise but Cape May or any restaurant in a non MK area will take pretty much the same amount of time. While some of the options at Boma are a little more African themed, it's not a hugely overwhelming use of a spices. I would go if you have time in your day as the lodge really is beautiful and the animal viewing with night vision goggles is a fun experience.

We love Boma as it's one of our favorites and is a must do for us every trip, so I vote to keep it. There are some unique things on the buffet, but there's also a variety of other choices that don't have a lot of spice/different seasoning, as well as a kids section with things like chicken tenders, french fries, etc. As far as Cape May, that is also one of our favorites, although I don't think it's any easier to get to compared to Boma. With all of that said, if you would rather stay close to MK, GF Cafe is good, but it doesn't compare to Boma or Cape May, IMO.

I would agree with PPs and keep Boma.
Question- how are you planning to travel between MK and AKL? Unless you're planning to stop back at the Poly before or after dinner, I'd just use the AKL bus between MK and dinner at Boma.

Thanks for the reassurance everyone! I don't know why I keep second guessing myself!
We have never gone to AKL in our previous trips and would love to explore a bit. The night vision goggles sounds like fun!
It is our second MK day, so we're playing it a little more relaxed that day (or that's the plan!), so we may head back to the resort, but will probably just go straight to AKL and explore before dinner. Hadn't thought of the bus! Thank you! While we have a car, I'd prefer to leave it on an MK day.

As always, the help here is amazing - thank you so much! Zebra dome countdown!! :flower1:

There is no restaurant in WDW that is spicy that I can find. I thought Boma was definitely not spicy or even differently spiced, though I wish it were.

I had just read some posts about others not liking some of the different seasonings they use there. I'm not completely sure as I've never been! Thanks!

We love Boma! I would keep it if I were you, they have plenty of stuff that isn't spicy

Is there a way you can do Boma on your AK day? Boma is good, and your family will find plenty to eat but the travel will cut into your desired MK park time.

I love Boma and the AKL. Love the lobby, love the gift shop, love AKL! If there's nothing that appeals to you in the MK area, you're going to spend some time travelling anyway. GFC and the Wave are fine if you're just looking to get a quick bite in the area. There's Trail's End at Fort Wilderness too. It's a well reviewed buffet in the MK area.

I'd considered that, but we decided to stay in AK and do Yak and Yeti dinner. AK is only open until 6 that day, so our ADR gets us out when the park is closed. Don't really want to change that one now.

Thanks for the reassurance! I think I'm going to stick with Boma!

We always do Boma after an AK day. We get there a little early, explore the lodge and watch the animals out on the savannahs. And the food is great! It's a must do for us!
