Driving to WDW from Northeast

How is Florence for an overnight stop? Where did you stay?

we were going to stop in florence...days inn. we got there, room wasn't ready, rude staff...waited a while...after 1/2 hour, we canceled & left. looked around for a little while. places looked dirty, so i told my wife i was feeling ok to continue, so we never stayed. My experience there was not a pleasant one.

Just returned from the world with my pregant wife, 4 yo and 11 yr sons. We left the Phila area on a Thurs morning, 4am and stopped in Savannah, GA at 4:30pm. Fairfield Inn was $59 and very clean and comfortable. We left the next morning 9am and arrived at the Caribbean Beach at 1pm.

Help -

We are driving to the AutoTrain soon and plan to leave around 6AM, going thru DC around 11-12. AAA TripTik and Mapquest both recommend taking the Eastern section of the beltway around DC but that seems to be longer (mileage-wise) than the Western section when traveling down 95.

Does anyone have any suggestions on which way to go, left or right, when we reach the beltway going South? I, hopefully, assume that the DC traffic will be a bit lighter at that time rather than classic rush hours.

Stay left! There are alot of lanes, so there never seems to be alot of traffic.

I went right and ran into a lot of traffic and construction. Left may be a better choice.
