Anyone else drive to The Studios from BCV. I found it to take about 5 Min to walk to my car and drive to The Studios. I tried walking all the way 5 min to the lighthouse and waiting 10 min and the ride itself taking 10 min. You can save yourself an hour a day by driving there.

We did both, depending on how rushed we wanted to be. Taking the boat is the slower, more leisurely way to get to MGM it seems. That dock is a LONG way from BCV, and parking at BCV is so convenient. Our next trip is after school ends in May, we will be doing a week at OKW and a week at BCV. I figure we'll mostly go to Epcot from BCV, and do the other parks from OKW with the car! Diana

does anyone know how long it takes to walk directly to MGM Studio?

It's a long way from BCV. I walked from the Dolphin over to MGM in about 10 minutes, but I was walking really fast. You would have to add in the time to get from BCV over to the walkway. I imagine that it could take nearly 30 minutes to walk from BCV to MGM at a leisurely pace.

We drove also. We used the self parking, which was a shorter walk than the valet area. MGM was so close that even DH couldn't get lost! :)

We did take the boat once. We got a great parking spot in the AM & didn't want to lose it, so for our afternoon break we took the boat back to BCV. After dinner we took the boat back to the studios for illuminations. It was a great way to travel, truly relaxing. When the show was over we took our time leaving the park, then hopped in the car & were back at our room in no time!

We did the walk from BCV this past august....going to MGM is not the problem, it is walking back after walking all day that frankly sucks!!....it does not seem long right up until you get to the swan and dolphin bridge, and then you contemplate jumping off the bridge until you realize the only chance you have of succeding in this endeavor is if an alligator eats you....so you trudge on....when we finally got to our room, a bottle of gatorade and a foot massage was the only appropriate course of action....followed immediately buy looking waht the best route to drive would be the next time!!

So the boat is not a good way to go? Where do you pick up the boat from at BCV?

You catch the boat out at the lighthouse out in the middle of the water. Can't miss it.

We were just there this week and from the time we walked from our room, were lucky enough to catch the boat immediately, it still took us 35 minutes each time to get back and forth to MGM. Next time, I think the drive would be faster :)

Well I have a rental car for my trip in 2 weeks so I think we will be driving to all the parks. It appears to be easier and much quicker.

We stayed at BC a year ago in the section closest to the BCV and we always enjoyed our walk to MGM. I love to walk and my family, although not as avid about exercise as I am, never complained either. Of course, we don't have little children. I always wear a pedometer and it is nothing for us to log 15-20 miles a day while at WDW. It is a pretty and peaceful walk along the canal to MGM. Give it a try!
