Hi all,

Just wanted to hear from some fellow Bostonians or New Englanders who could give me a realistic driving time from Boston to Orlando. The disboard driving piece states about 26 hours yet my Yahoo Map states 20 hours. Can anyone fill me in on their experiences.

Thanks!

Well, leaving from Lowell (26 miles north of Boston); if you depart at 6 a.m., you will arrive in So. Carolina by 10 p.m. --if you start out again by 8 am. the next morning, you'll be in Orlando at 4 p.m. This is how I do it. I really need the night's rest, before continuning on. Some people can drive straight through. It's roughly 25-26 hours. I've never heard of anyone doing it in 20!
It also depends on which route you take and whether you're traveling on the weekends or weekdays. The bottlenecks are Washington, DC, and Richmond, VA. on Rte 95. The alternate route avoids those bottlenecks: it's I-84 west to I-81 south to I-77 south to I-26 east
to I-95 south to I-4 south to orlando if you want to try that route.

Back in the early 80's my db made it from Penascola to central ma in 23 hrs. And this was with the use of some 'not recommended' drug!!! I can't imagine anyone making it to WDW in less than 24 hrs. I would also take 2 days to do it.

Last year we left Norton at 12 am on Thurs. 8/12 and arrived at the Travelodge on 192 at 10:30pm on the same day. We stopped only for gas and bathroom breaks as we were trying to time our arrival between tropical storm Bonnie and hurricane Charley. We didn't want to get caught on the road in either one....who knew Charley was going to turn and hit Orlando the day after we arrived?!! We usually make the drive over 2 days staying in Lumberton, NC on the way down and near Chester, VA on the way home. On the trip down we drive for about 14 hours on the first day. The way home it's more like two 12 hour days.
