driving over USA thanksgiving ?

Hey all,

I have something that is bothering me and I am hopping to find someone with some experience with this.

We are driving down to wdw from the Niagara area leaving thursday the 25th in the evening.

Typically in the past we just keep driving until I can not drive anymore than call choice hotels (comfort inn, Clarion, sleep inn, Quality inn) as I get free nights stays with them due to the amount I travel for work. It is a nice perk for spending nearly 100 nights a year in a hotel. Anyways I call them for the closest hotel and book a room.

We have never travelled down over US thanksgiving and I am wondering if the hotels along the interstate will all be booked? Is it hard to find a room over this holiday.

Any help would be welcomed.

My family traveled on Thanksgiving once and the bigger problem we had was finding places to eat - a lot of the restaurants were closed - I would suspect you wouldn't have a problem with hotels - i think most people who travel go to stay with family not in hotels. Just pack some extra snacks in case you can't find a restaurant open when you want food!

WE ALSO LIVE IN NIAGARA, I HAVE DONE THE DRIVE IN 21 HOURS STRAIGHT. I WOULD CALL AHEAD WHILE YOUR DRIVING, DONT LEAVE IT TOO LATE IN EVENING. NORMAL HOLIDAY TRAFFIC WILL BE STOPPING FOR THE EVENING. HOW LONG WILL YOU BE THERE, WE ARE THERE FROM NOV 29TH TO DEC 6TH. WE HAVE DVC SO WE ARE STAYING AT OKW REORT. BUT WE WILL BE EATING ONE NIGHT AT BOMA IN AKL. MAYBE WE MIGHT CROSS PATHS

Thanks for the info, We typically do it in about 21 hours as well. I grew up in Thorold but now live in North Bay. Parents are still there so we stop in to drop off the dog and say hi on the way thru. I figure we will get to the border by around 8pm and hope to make it to at least Washington PA before stopping for the night.

We check in December 28th and out on the 5th. We have a Boma night on the 29th at 4:30pm. Really looking forward to AKL and perhaps I will convince the wife to let me buy DVC. Oh well a man can dream.
