Is Mickey's backyard BBQ set up for families exclusively? DF and I love a good time and have tried the other "show" experiences and loved them. Is this similar? I read somewhere that it's serve yourself... does this mean the beer too?

We did NOT enjoy the BBQ. It's nothing like the HDDR. They offer a buffet in the center, drinks are all the way far off to the right (took me awhile to find them) then dessert is Mickey bars from the coolers.

If you have no kids, you might enjoy it.

For us, we didn't like having to hold down our table or we'd lose it. We had to take turns getting food, bringing the kids to the dance floor to meet the characters.

It just wasn't enjoyable. We'll never do that one again.:sad2:

It started at 6pm and many families left right after they were done with their dinner. We were out of there by 7:15 pm.

The boat dock is crazy crowded at that time with people arriving for the HDDR.

I agree with the above poster. LONG lines for the food, the noise was TOO loud and we ended up leaving early, after 15 minutes. Younger kids would enjoy dancing with the charactors, but our DD at 12 didn't want to. The food is picnic style and ice cream bars for dessert! We didn't think it was worth it. Spirit of Aloha is awesome and so was HDDR, we really liked not standing in line and being served and SOA food was very good.
