Am I going to regret packing a sundress or two (and skirts for my girls) for our trip? I would love to hear from others that have either successfully worn skirts or have regretted attempting to. We'll be there end of Aug/beginning of Sep and I thought maybe we'd be more comfortable wearing easy, breezy clothes.

I've worn skirts at WDW. A tip I learned here on the DIS is to wear light bike shorts underneath...there's just no way to be graceful and not flash the world getting on and off some of those rides. :)

Well you're talking to someone who stopped wearing shorts all together after I had my first child. My thighs have been conversating with each other since 1998 and after my second they just started screaming with each other; so I wear nothing but skirts and capris. Oh wait I just lied to you I did buy one pair of knee lenght shorts this year and wore them on our May trip, but other than than it's skirts and capris. I wore the exact same denim skirt I'm wearing now it's a little on the long side but nothing unfashionable I got it from Old Navy. As a matter of fact I wore two skirts from Old Navy this past trip and I'm planning on buying a new one for my upcoming Sept. trip. As for my two girls ages 9 & 2 - the 9yr old didn't wear a skirt the entire trip except for the Sprit of Aloha dinner show but was fine and my 2yr old wore one while in AK which happened to be the hottest day during our entire trip and she was fine. Even if she wasn't she doesn't speak much yet so she wouldn't have been able to tell me she was misreble(sp) anyway. LOL

If you keep it cute, short enough (not sluty short) and stylin I think you'll do fine in dresses and skirts.

I have gone trips where I wore nothing but skirts. I find them much more comfortable and cooler than shorts. Plus more flattering!

Wear what makes you comfortable BUT I would not take my DD8 in anything other than a skort. She likes skirts and dresses but I don't like her flashing the guests all day... and it happens over and over without SOME coverage... skorts are a winner for us.

I'll jump on the skort bandwagon here....love them!! Very comfortable and cute, too!

Now, I prefer wearing skirts in hot weather. And my DD 5 wears skirts and sundresses a lot here out and about. But I wouldn't put one on her at WDW simply because she isn't always the most modest child, especially getting on/off rides. :)

Another vote for skirts. I actually bought a skirt today and while I was trying it on and showing my daughter she replied " that will be great for disney " :rotfl2: . Just remember if you do have a chaffing problem with bare thighs to put on body glide before heading out to the parks.

Another vote for skirts/sundresses! In fact, this summer I'm wearing nothing but. So much cooler and I feel like I look better when I go out. :hippie:

I only wear skirts and dresses. I don't feel comfortable wearing pants. My daugter is 2 and she won't let you even put a pair of pants on her. :scared1:
I will be wearing my skirts to WDW and DD will be wearing her dresses.:cutie:
But hey we are the minortiy no crocks on us. :lmao:

My daughters wear skirts, dresses, and skorts a lot, in fact that's what they prefer to wear especially when it's hot. So since they were really comfortable in them, then that's what we take with us. Luckily, we didn't have a problem with flashing this time but we've put knit bike shorts (they like the Gymboree ones) underneath the really flowy skirts before with great success. Have a great trip!

I wore skirts or skorts the entire trip except to Animal Kingdom. I have not worn shorts in a couple of years thanks to What not to Wear! Have you seen some of these ladies! (I am in my late 20's and know better!)

I put my girls in sundresses the entire time. They like them best and are used to wearing them. I find them to be cooler than shorts or capris. I even wore a skirt of Soarin and Splash Mt. No problems!

My dd (5) wore sundresses the entire time last year. They were super cool in the hot August weather.:cutie:
You can always pic up a pair or two of those little bloomers that go under some of the dresses.

i wore skirts pretty much the whole trip.

Do what you feel comfortable in.

another vote for skirts!!! I find them comfortable and I look great...if its not shorts than I wear longer shorts or capris!!!
Have a disney day!

I was thinking about this, too. I tend to wear skirts in the summer because they're cooler.

I have one pair of shorts, I changed size so I went shopping this spring to buy more and was pretty much horrified by the selection. I would like something longer than a 1" inseam, please, but I don't want the old-lady shorts either. It's one thing in the back yard, it's another thing to go out in a crowd.

Hopefully by next summer I will find some shorts I'd be seen in public wearing. If not, skirts seem like a pretty good option!

I love What Not to Wear. I too NEVER wear shorts anymore. I wore skirts the entire trip, and did not have a problem.

Have fun!
