Dress Codes for Signature Restaurants

I am NOT trying to be controversial. I have a legit question. When did Disney stop enforcing dress codes for signature restaurants? I am not talking about shorts and a Mickey shirt. I mean attire that is on the "not allowed" list?

Maybe the question should be, did they ever enforce it? It is more of a suggestion to dress nicer than a requirement?

This is the guest that was checking in before us at Narcoossee's. Cut off shorts with stings hanging down and all. I do not understand why this is allowed in signature restaurants.

Not criticizing the guest.... more so Disney policy.

I have seen this before at Narcoossee's. Men in t-shirts w graphics on the back, ripped jeans, etc...

I don't think they have ever enforced the dress code. It's unfortunate.

I can see this at a park signature. However, I just don't get it at a hotel. Oh well, DH and I "dressed up" all day at Epcot for NYE and Monsieur Paul. It wasn't that hard. He just wore khakis and a nice Hawaiian shirt, and I had on a skirt, silky shell, jacket, and nice flats. I like dressing up sometimes, because I can wear jeans and t-shirts to work. If I dress too nicely at work, people ask if it's laundry day or if I have an interview with another company:confused3

Are you sure they weren't just asking a question?

I also shudder to think of the pictures strangers may be taking of me and posting on the internet! :scared1:

I absolutely cannot believe that I am looking at a photo of someone that was taken without their knowledge/permission & posted on the internet in order to mock their clothing & present a dilemma of "etiquette."

The most tasteless thing I see here (and the largest breach of etiquette) is this thread's existence.

looks fine to me. :shrug. Not sue how that would impact my meal unless they got the last lobster or something.

Yes, that photo is tacky. And, I agree that I don't think they ever enforced any dress code, other than V&A, at Disney. It is more of a suggestion really.

I wear sundresses and a light sweater, with comfortable walking sandals, to the parks myself. I like to feel pretty on vacation (at home, you will find me in workout clothes every morning, LOL). Even my daughter, who lives in jeans and tee shirts, will often opt for a skirt over shorts, but her shorts are mostly Bermuda length.

Different strokes for different folks.

I was under the impression that Narcoossee's was (unofficially) less stringent and more "family friendly" on dress code than Citricos.

Well--we eat at Signatures exclusively and I've yet to see anyone in those restaurants wearing what is on that "not permitted" list.

As to that photo--looks like a violation of the torn clothes/bathing suit cover up thing, so they should have been turned away.

When did Disney stop enforcing the "don't take photos of young girls arses without their consent" rule, that's what I want to know?

Well--I'm not sure WDW has any such policy--at least that folks would know about. Once you are out "in public" your privacy rights diminish considerably.

They should not have been allowed in dressed like that. As someone who sat next to a family with 3 men/ teen boys whose armpit hair was hanging out at dinner for an entire 7 day cruise, yes, what someone else is wearing DOES effect me. I don't care to look at someone's pit hair while eating. As much as I tried not to notice or let it effect me, their sweaty pits were nauseating in close quarters, so I can see why the rule exists.

That's clearly not a young girl. By the look of the varicose veins in her lower legs probably middle aged. There is no right to privacy in a situation like this the PP didn't break any laws, or Disney rules.

I may do the occasional double-take, and you may be the topic of conversation at our table or afterwards, but if the restaurant lets you in then who am I to argue? I don't care if someone is wearing a hat indoors, or if they're wearing jeans torn or otherwise, tank tops, clothes several sizes too small, etc. I'll take care of me and mine, everyone else is on their own.

A few years ago we were in line for SSE and there was a young couple ahead of us. They were probably late teen, early 20's. They were totally goth'd up. Black on black on black. Piercings, black lipstick (both him and her), black eye liner, the torn fishnets, and on and on. I watched them for a few minutes, at first because their clothing was so out there I couldn't help it, but after a moment it became clear...they were the most loving, adorable couple EVER. I can't even explain it, they were just heart meltingly adorable and very much in love. We saw them later at a restaurant (I think in France) where they continued to be the sweet, polite, loving couple they were. I bet there were pearls being clutched all around them.

While Narcoose's isn't on top of my list, I've been to Le Cellier and even Yachtsman in similar clothing because - well - I'm on vacation and all year long I have to dress to impress for work and on my 10 day (or however many days it is) vacation, I refuse to wear anything but my most comfortable jeans, shorts, t-shirts, tanks, etc.

I'm personally more offended by the lack of use of deodorant.

I did not take a photo of a young girl's butt. I took a photo of a 60ish year old woman and cropped out all of the faces and people around her. Get a grip.
If you can honestly tell me you have no photos of anybody in Disney from the backside I will retract my comment, otherwise find something legit to complain about.
