Dreams Unlimmited for Disney trip-A good choice?

I feel funny asking this question on this board as I think that DU owns these boards....I'm wondering how the service has been from DU on Disney trips? We used them twice...once they booked a trip at Disney World and the service was great. The second time was for a Disney Cruise trip earlier this year. The Disney Cruise experience with DU was not that great. We were not treated bad but the person booking us did not know about the services Disney Cruise lines provided for kids, he would refer us to the Disney Cruise site to get information instead of doing any research. He did not tell us how to book excursions. They never corrected errors in our booking info. In fact, DU only contacted us to remind us to pay our balance...and that was it. The Disney Cruise call center was much more helpful and fixed the DU errors.

I guess my point would be that I look for a travel agent to provide some guidance to the travel process. I'm wondering if people are having the same issues for a Disney World trip or is this just an issue for Disney Cruise or did I just happen to have some bad luck.

Thanks for any advice.

GREAT CHOICE!

I have used DU for my past 5+ trips. I have a great agent (Shirley) but I believe they're all great. She gets me all of my dining requests, checks frequently for discounts, keeps track of everything, puts together a detailed itinerary and best of all, I don't have to call WDW at all. She is great and the services of DU are outstanding.

You won't be disappointed!

i'm using them for my upcoming sept tripfor the first time,so far they have been the best travel agent i've ever used.the always get right back to me with my requests and questions.they even booked all my adr's:goodvibes

Rhonda is ours and she is awesome!! She answers ??S very quickly, has made ADRs, and even got us ADR at CRT...i did not ask because I thought it was not possible...we were beyond the 180 point. I am so excited. I have changed a lot and she has always been kind...........no matter what. You can email her directly. I would not do it any other way!

I keep feeling a little guilty that I've never used DU, yet I'm on the boards they sponser alot.

For those of us who do things like rent DVC points/check mousesavers and here for resort discounts, know which counter service meals are large enough to split, know how to wait for SWA Dings! for great airfares, etc....what would be gained by using DU (or any other TA)? I honestly don't mind making calls for ADRs...I kind of like it as it builds trip anticipation!

I use Sue Ellen at DU and she is great! She is also mentioned by name in The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2007, and I quote "The best of the best include ... Sue Ellen ..." For me you can't get a better recommendation.

With Dreams Unlimited, are you able to pay your balance when you want like when you book with disney online? I know that when I booked with Disney online, you had to pay the $200 desposit and then you had until 45 before your trip before the balance had to be due. I really like this feature. Are you able to do this with Dreams Unlimited too? Thanks

I am a control freak.. looking for the best deal etc. My husband asked me to use a TA for our sept trip. Rhonda,rhonda@dreamsunlimitedtravel.com, is AWESOME. Fast, thorough and honest replies.

He couldn't believe the detail she gave us about the parks. I don't mind making calls etc but I swear she does it in half the time (has some magiv of her own). Plus I couldn't beat her price.

Little did she know that we go to disney as a party of 13 every other year (even years) and odd years as just our family. She treated us better (4 nights AKL) than the last TA who did our stay (GF conceigre) for 13 people 7 nights.

PM me if you have any questions Michelle

I prefer to do everything myself, but that's just me I feel like with DU or any travel agent i'm not getting the best deals and that I could get them or find them better on my own. I know some people have had such great experiences with DU and other travel agents, for me it's just not what I prefer. So if you are set on a travel agent I think DU is probably your best choice, but if you are wavering between doing it yourself or DU I think you can do it yourself too if you don't mind making all the calls and such.

Another thunbs up here for DU!!:thumbsup2 We use Beth...and she is awesome!! Always right on top of everything and very quick to respond to you with any answers or changes you might have. And I am not easy to please! I can NEVER make up my mind. Go with DU you won't regret it!!:)

Yes you can do that on Dreams unlimited's site! Each payment must be at least $100. Or you can pay in full at anytime. The final payment must be made also by 45 days prior.

Dreams Umlimited isn't a travel agency. It is a travel consulting company. When you make your reservations with them....they book directly with Disney...and when you give them a payment, you are not paying Dreams...they give your credit card info to Disney..and disney processes your payment. Dreams doesn't get paid by you..they recieve commission from Disney itself.

Ok great thanks. Can I ask though, what can dreams do that Disney can't? It seems like Dreams in only like a middle man. Is that true?

I booked our upcoming trip with DU. My agent is also Shirley and she is GREAT! I couldn't believe the ADRs she was able to get for me. We booked our trip about 90 days out and she was able to get our lunch ADR at CRT on my dd's birthday and Le Cellier at 7:20 (perfect timing for illuminations). I thought because of the timing there would be NO WAY of getting those ADRs. In fact, I got every one of my desired ADRs.

I could have called disney everyday to try and get them, buy why? She was so on the ball. I used to always do all my trip planning myself (and still will for a lot of other types of trips), but now I will ALWAYS use Shirley for WDW trip planning.

In a nutshell...yes. But they have the convience of you just send them the dates you want to go and where you'd like to stay...and they take care of everything. They do the calling, booking, making your ADR's, they give you a great itinerary. I just find it to be so convienient.

Ok great! Thanks for the great info. Now I will just have to decide whether I want to do all the planning or if I would like to hand the rains over to someone else. Thanks again!
