DREAM Sail Date December 11th 2011

45 days to go. :yay: Our cruise shopping/packing officially starts this weekend!

I started to gather some various odds and ends about 2 months ago, but then we got news that put a major damper on my cruise planning/packing, and I just haven't gotten back to it yet. My in-laws were supposed to go with us, but DFIL was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of lymphoma in August. They were undecided for a little while about whether or not go, but made the decision last week not to - mainly b/c of the timing of his chemo, and he would most likely be feeling pretty bad on the cruise.

Anyway... I'm hoping to get back in the mood sometime soon. They went with us on our first DCL cruise, and we are really gonna miss them this time around.

Sorry.. didn't meant to put a damper on things... just haven't felt like posting in a while....

So sorry to hear about your FIL. What a terrible disease and it strikes so many of us. Hope the chemo and other treatments help. :grouphug:

Thanks, everybody, for the warm wishes and cyber-hugs. Really didn't mean to throw a damper on our thread but it was therapeutic for me to get it out there, so thanks for bearing with me!

I have started in the last couple of days to try to get back in the mood and start thinking of things I need to gather/pack and make some more definite plans for traveling. So maybe I'm getting back into the swing of things!

It'll be here before we know it!!

Only 41 days to go according to the DCL website. Woohoo!! :)

Strangely I though my room was one of the ones that was now upgraded (#5030) but I have a £4.36 refund (I assume as OBC) listed against my account.

As an aside, the seem to have updated the activities booking system. Very swish now. Nothing more I want to book mind, but very swish none the less. :)

Just got home from our weeky weekend trip and read this. I am sorry about your DFIL. Hoping all will go well with the chemo and it doesn't affect him too much. I'll keep all of your family in my prayers since I know how hard it can be on all of you.

Happy Halloween fellow cruisers! I hope to get the FE list togehter this week things seem to be calmer I hope!~

I know!! I am sooooooo hoping for warm weather! Hard to know what to pack yet, but I am optimistically planning for it to be warm every day! Last January, it was FREEZING on the day we left Port Canaveral - had to be all bundled up in coats. I don't even wanna TAKE coats this time around!!

Does anyone know what the weather will be like in Orlando around that time?

It's hard to think about packing shorts and summery clothes when it's been cold here... and I'm always cold. :sad2:

Not sure where in GA you are from, but I'm guessing it must be north Georgia if you are already all that cold - it hasn't been too bad yet here in central Georgia! But honestly, the weather in Orlando around that time is much like the weather here - a complete and total crap-shoot. Meaning, it could be ANYTHING. Might be nice and sunny, in the 70's (or even 80's!), or if a cold front has just come through, it could be quite chilly (which to me, would mean high's in the 50's or so).

Some years on Christmas Day around here we have been in shorts. Other years we have been layered in heavy sweaters and coats. There's just no way to know until we get MUCH closer!! Unfortunately!

Ahhh, I totally know what you mean. I am from Central Georgia as well. But I'm always cold even when people are hot and sweaty I'm freezing. :rotfl: So I guess I just better bring my whole closet. :rolleyes1

I've never been to Orlando in December. We've always gone in Sept/Oct time frame and it's always hot hot hot....

I'm looking forward to this trip. :yay::woohoo::cheer2: Packing will be a challenge.

We got our cruise documents today in the mail!!:woohoo:
This has made us really excited!!:dance3:
We have been getting things together and packing a little bit at a time for the last 3 months.:laundy:
