Dream Job

Thanks guys for all the encouragement. I am really excited and nervous for tomorrow.

I don't think I have ever been this nervous for an interview or wanted a job so badly. I keep praying that if it is right God will open the door.

Off to try to sleep...

So how did it go?! And you won't be able to find many nursing jobs that don't include weekends, so no biggie there.

Thanks guys... it has been a busy long day. I really feel good about the interview, it was an hour long and they asked a set of questions they ask everyone.

I feel like I have a great skill set, with doing my internship on the unit and being the parent of preemies.

Thought it spoke highly of the unit that this nurse manager has been there for 2.5 years and never had to hire for the Special care nursery until now. So there is long term staff.

They said they had interviewed quite a few before me and still had two more to go. They will let us know middle to end of next week. It is going to be a long long week.

Still praying hard but trying not to get my hopes up too high. But, I would be so blessed to be part of this team.

Wishing you the best of luck!

The market is really tough. If you really love critical care nursing, try anything you can - nicu, peds icu, and even adult ICU.
if you like being around children and families, try maternal child - nicu, nursery, peds, picu, peds step down - any of those. also postpartum and l&D.
just exand. remember, with nursing you aren't stuck into any one job, and if you find a job later you want to try, you can go into that! but right now just try to start working because if you have been out for 6 months or more - without a job - it starts to become concerning when employers are looking at your applications. at least when i got out of school with my RN, everyone in my class had a job before we graduated. now - i know its changed, but still - don't be picky in this economy!
are you bach degree level? if so consider the armed services or the USPHS / Commissioned Corps. its an amazing experience and you get to do so much. basically you need to be under the age of 45 and healthy. i wish i was able to, but i am not at this time due to health concerns! :(

Good luck and I hope you get that job! I am also from Oregon and will be graduating June 2011 with a BSN. The market around here is so tough right now, but it's good to hear that at least some places are hiring new grads. Keep us updated!

Praying that you get your dream job offer. My twins spent 59 days in NICU and the nurses and doctors in that unit hold a special place in my heart ten years later.

Please keep us posted.
