DREAM 5-night June 21 2011

unless they have changed something there was only 1 ping pong table and it
was near the basketball-- very windy and hard to play.

is that on the Dream? On the magic there were two on the pool deck. I've heard on the Dream they have the two on the pool deck and two on the teen deck.:confused3

How difficult do you think it would be to secure a ressie at Remy? I'm a first time cruiser and we would love to dine here for our 5 year anniversary!

Do things book up pretty quickly for those that get to make reservations early in advance?

Well it's hard to say, yet. Palo goes like wildfire but remy cost significantly more, that may deter so many people from booking. Are you a CC member? Maybe if you lurk in some of the April?may forums you can see if people are having trouble on those cruises.

Hi everyone! DH and I booked a sneak peek cruise on the dream and just returned TODAY!
It was awesome FUN and I learned alot so I feel prepared for our June cruise with the kids!! I'll be writing a TR for sure but let me know if you have any Q's ... also the dis podcast has a great show review of the ship as well. I listened to it before we left and found it really helpful.

Welcome back! Looking forward to your TR!

Hi! Well I just started my TR, it is on the Cruise TR board, so feel free to check it out. I have lots to share! It will make planning for the summer easier for me for certain.

Looking forward to it!

We are sailing with friends this cruise and between the 4 families we have 8 kids ranging from 8 to 15. The adults would like to do a grown up day at Serenity Bay on our second visit to CC. What do we do with the kids? Not real concerned about DS (15) but all the others are between 8 and 12. Do we make arrangements on the ship and then they go with a group out to CC? Or do we wait til CC and there are arrangements to be made after we get off the ship? Help! Any input would be approciated.

If the kids are enrolled in the ship's Oceaneer Lab/Oceaneer's club programs, they can (and may very well prefer to) spend the Castaway Cay day with their groups. I don't believe they do "walk ups" at either club gathering place on Castaway Cay, so you might have to sign them up at the start of the cruise, then negotiate for when you spend time together. Many parents, us included, got more "adult time" than we expected because the kids had such a great time with buddies they made on the cruise, they didn't want to come out of their club/lab! We literally had to drag ours out for family pictures, a few sit down dinners, etc. My kids have been out of the club/lab age range now for two years, so I might be a bit out of date, but I'm pretty sure that's how it all works!

Great question. And a great answer too.

What about when we are docked at Nassau? Are the clubs available at that time as well?

Thanks!

There are kids' club activities while in port...our kids had no interest in Nassau (after the first trip to Atlantis), so DH and I got to have our adult tour on our own! They can't get off the ship unless you say so, so you can be confident they'll be somewhere onboard when you get back on!

We are coming in on Monday and staying at OKW for a night, We are looking at renting a car at the airport and then returning it Tuesday at the port. Then when the cruise returns we were going to pick up a car at the port and then spend the rest of the week in Orlando. Has anyone done this before? The rates look really good, better than a car service or Disney transport for the 4 of us. Are the rental car places convenient from the cruise terminal? Do they have shuttles or do you need to cab it? Thanks for any thoughts people have.

We rent a car all the time...sometimes if we get a really good weekly rate it is worth it to us on a 4 or 5 day cruise to just stay at one of the Port Canaveral area hotels that offers free parking/shuttle to cruise passengers and leave the car there while we cruise. If not, we pick up a car in Orlando and drop it off at the car rental place in Port Canaveral (we've used Budget and I think Avis before, but Budget is closer). Upon our return, we take the rental car shuttle back from the port to pick up a car.

Sometimes the rates renting out of Canaveral are pretty steep (hence it being worth it to get a cheaper weekly rate and just park the car at the hotel during the cruise). It depends on what rate you get. Keeping the same car also means we can stash part of our luggage we aren't using on the cruise in it. The shuttle buses can get jammed up going to and from the car rental place, and on more than one occasion we had to wait a pretty long time at Budget to pick up our car due to slow-moving lines and only one or two people working there. One time Budget had no cars available, and we had to wait an hour or so until someone brought a car back in and we could take it. We are always heading back to WDW after a cruise, so the wait to get a car gets frustrating when it is cutting into our park time! For that reason, unless the price differential is really high, we go with renting a car for the week and parking it. For a 7 day trip, you would have to get a REALLY good weekly rate to make it worth it to keep the same car, but it has happened.

Hope that helps!
