DREAM 5-night June 21 2011

We will be taking our VERY FIRST DISNEY CRUISE and are so excited to experience the dream. The kids have never cruised so they couldn't be more excited. It will be me, my DH Tim and our two kids ages 9 and 7 on the cruise. Hoping to gain some insight from you experienced cruisers, June just can't get here fast enough!

timandlesley welcome aboard:welcome: You are going to LOVE:love:a Disney Cruise. Plus, on your first cruise you are going to get to experience Disney's own private island Castaway Cay not once but twice:banana: That is one of the reasons we booked this cruise instead of the Alaskan cruise.

We just booked this trip last week and I am so excited. I will be traveling with my DH and our granddaughter who will be 10 by then. My husband and I have cruised a good bit but never on Disney. This will be our granddaughter's first cruise and we hope to keep it a surprise until she spots the ship at the port on the 21st.

I have read all of the posts on this board and "PassPort's Disney Cruise Line". Everything sounds wonderful. We always love being at WDW - and this ship sounds absolutely incredible.

My granddaughter is mature for her age and very outgoing - she will have no trouble meeting kids. One concern - it sounds like kids her age are allowed to check in and out of activities and go about the ship independently. Will the pager we are given allow us to know where she is at all times? Any information on how this works will be so helpful.

We are so looking forward this cruise!

I have an 11 yr old girl and I'm praying she can't check herself out of the tween club! I'd love to know if anyone has heard how this works! I think either the Wonder or Magic has a tween club.

Maybe we can get the girls together!

Does anyone know how many people they will allow to sit together for meals? We have 12 (maybe 14) in our group. I'd really like for us to at least be able to sit together at dinner.

Also, is anyone doing Remy? I definitely want to do Palo but wasn't sure about Remy. I heard it was more expensive.

Welcome! The FE is basically a pocket file that hangs outside the stateroom door. People in the group know where the FE folks are located and secretly deliver little goodies. I've read some groups where people have assigned days and themes. Thusfar, we haven't done any of that. I've received anything from pencils to State themed treats to monogrammed towels to crafts....the fun is in the coming back to the cabin and finding the goodies waiting for you!

I suppose as we get closer, I'm sure we'll come up with some guidelines - have you joined the fb group?
I just tried to send you my FE info but it wouldn't go through because I haven't posted enough messages to be able to send private messages. Weird but ok - guess I'll start posting instead of just reading! I'll send it soon!

DH and I are going to try to get PALO for brunch - we've done both brunch and dinner on the Magic before (2 different cruises) and preferred brunch. We're not going to do Remy.....I think it's $75 addt'l per person!

My son is going to be 11 by the time we sail and from my past experience, I think they'll be able to check themselves in and out (with a notification to the parents I hope). The last time we went on a Disney cruise, my son was 8 and the Cast Member that checked us in on embarktion day asked if we wanted to give him those self-checkout priveledges - UMMMM no..... :)

That would be great.

Maybe when trip reports from the Dream are posted we will learn more about how the new youth clubs work.

I guess we're just going to have to play this by ear. How did the pager system work?

You need 10 posts until you're allowed to send PM's or post pics. On one of my other boards we would just tell the group random things about ourselves to hit the magic number. So, post away...what's your favorite color? See, one post closer! :lmao:

They used to give you these old fashioned pagers & would page you (as the parent) if something was wrong with your child (sick, wanted to leave etc.). Now, from what I've read, Disney has the new "WAVE phones" which replaces the pagers as well as your stateroom phones. I believe that's how you'll get texts from the cast members in the kids club areas. I'm anxious to read more about these WAVE phones in the upcoming trip reports (as well as how the kids areas - especially for my 11 yr. old - will work)

Is your 11 yr old a girl or boy? My 11 yr girl is so excited about the tween club! I hope they will love it in there and can make friends quickly!

I hope it is at least 31 because that is how many are in my group. This will be our family reunion for this year.
ETA: Cool my 5000th post and it only took my 10 1/2 years. LOL!

Looks like my DH, DB, Dsil, and myself will be joining you all!!!! :cool1:

This will be mine and DH's first cruise EVER!! My bro and sis in law have done this cruise last year and they say it's THE best!!!!:)
