Looking at a possible trip in September. Plan would most likely be 8 nights total (1-bedroom), with it split between two resorts.

Options for the first 4 nights are BLT, BRV and Riviera.
  • BLT easily has the best location and the bonus of the 2nd bathroom.
  • BRV is probably appealing to me because it is different and I do love it being somewhat similar to the Grand Californian.
  • RIV while I'd never own there (don't have any interest in WDW tower resorts), we want to stay there at some point. So it is still of interest and of course has the skyliner.
Options for the second resort are SSR, OKW and Riviera. But it would be between SSR & OKW.
  • OKW is the OG and the most unique, but also the most isolated. Although in many ways that is a benefit.
  • SSR is closer to Disney Springs, so seems like there would be way more things available.
Our home resorts are AKV Kidani, VGF and VDH. With AKV definitely being our favorite as we do things more slowly these days and like being somewhere that we can enjoy our downtime.

Would love to hear some thoughts from all of you!

Well for my upcoming trip in October I have 3 nights at BLT in a 1BDRM, 2 nights at AKL Jambo House in a Club Level 1BDRM followed by 2 nights in a Savana View Studio and finally 3 nights at BRV in a 1BDRM.

If you plan to spend more time at MK, then BLT to start. More time at EP/HS, then Riv to start. For us, AKL would be the perfect complement to a split stay. But between your choices, we definitely have a soft spot for OKW - beautiful, peaceful resort with an easy boat ride to DS for some fun time and great dining!

If you are going in September you have lots of options with the points being so low.

What type of trip are you taking? If you are doing parks on both days I would do BRV or BLT and then RIV on the backend.

OKW & SSR are right next to it so the proximity to DS only matters if you are walking and technically you could walk from OKW as well.

I'd say if you plan to enjoy Food & Wine, go with Riviera and then go over to SSR. I know everyone loves the bigger rooms at OKW, but the "newer' more refurbished rooms at SSR win it for me. We did not like our room quality at OKW.

Depends on park plans. If doing some good MK time, do BLT or BRV for one half. If early entry or evening hours and fireworks at MK, then I'd probably do BLT over BRV. If a more casual MK stay, just flip a coin and pick which one you want to try out more. Then, I'd do RIV for the other half, regardless of planned park time.

If little to no MK time, but more Epcot/HS, I'd probably split between RIV and SSR. I stayed for my first time at SSR a few weeks ago and really liked it. My personal interest in trying OKW has gone way down after seeing SSR. SSR seems like a great back-up resort that has a couple of great pools with water slides, splash areas, and pool bars, is walking distance to DS, and has a real quick service restaurant. I can't think of anything about OKW that seems significantly better - bigger patios/balconies? Some people rave about Olivia's, but you've got way more options at DS. Maybe I'll change my mind after I stay there.

When we stayed there, I wanted to dislike Riviera. Before checking in, I had committed to memory every reason in the world why I was going to have a miserable stay. We are so used to the Crescent Lake resorts and to me, Riviera was their ugly step-child: less character, less convenient. But, I found the stay at Riviera to have this sense of calm that most of the other resorts don't have. It's still not my favorite resort by any means, and I would never consider owning there because of the restrictions, but if I were looking for a resort with a more slow feel to it, it might be my top choice.

We love both BLT and BRV, so it’s a tough choice. The extra bathroom at BLT is a wonderful asset and its location is unbeatable. The pool is nothing special IMHO, but certainly fine for just relaxing. And the eateries at the CR (and other resorts on the monorail) provide a good variety of choices. We find BRV to be supremely relaxing and enjoy the pool, the lobby (both of them ;) ) and Geyser Point. However, buses are the main mode of transportation (except for the watercraft to the MK) and many folks dislike them. It’s a non-issue for us.

OKW is one of our home resorts and we love it. We don’t mind that there’s no theme park “next door” and actually think that’s one of its charms. Watercraft to DS is easy and enjoyable. The units are spacious and comfortable. Olivia’s is a long-time favorite. We really like the Riviera as well, although we didn’t realize that until we actually stayed there. The rooms are tastefully furnished and the restaurants are terrific. It’s also nice to stay in a resort that has multiple means of park transportation (keeping in mind that t-storms in the warmer months can strand the gondolas for a while). But it is pricey point-wise.
