DREAM 5-night June 21 2011

I seem to remember last year being informed that DCL would no longer deliver cases of water with the luggage. You could still carry it on with you if you wanted.

Yes this is the policy. It has to be carried on with you (all food and beverages).

Also I emailed DCL and they said they are no longer offering show days or theme night schedules in advance for the ship...you have to wait to see your navigator:confused3

Hi there -- am I missing where our Alt Itinerary type is posted? :magnify: Are we B or C? I see these listed for the five night, but I may not be looking in the right place to confirm if we are the "B" itinerary or the "C"... Just think it will be helpful to know for planning! Thanks!

You probably know what you are talking about!! I have to look on the documents when we booked it, I bet it is there. that is the "B" itinerary... the other one has the day at sea on the end... but still with two CC stops... anyhow, I'll nose around some more.

I think you are both correct. It is listed as Alternate Itinerary B .The difference is that in the regular itinerary the order is different (sea day is swapped with Nassau). Regular itinerary sets sail on Sunday while we leave on Tuesday. Yes, I am counting the days!

trying to catch up on the thread. My parents may be joining us. I just checked air fare and it is high-I may wait and hope it comes down.
We were on the Maiden Dream if anyone has any questions.

Is there a roster of who is on this cruise somewhere in the thread. Also where is the FE roster. I did receive it, but now can't find it.

I have a question about the FE-- will those participating be willing to drop off gifts to the concierge lounge? We may have a cat T and on the recent cruise upgraded to cat V and only got a handful of gifts with over 80 rooms participating. we were disappointed to see all the great gifts in the Fish extenders when we were delivering ours.

To anyone that has ever thought of linking dinner reservations- we did it on the Maiden voyage and made some great friends from the dis boards.

just checked to see what was available still on this cruise and it looks sold out!
Not sure if I gave my info for FE-please let me know

Hi Beth,

We will be on this cruise with our granddaughter. She will be 10 but she is very mature for her age and I am guessing she will be more comfortable with the "tweens". Do you know how strict the rules on age ranges are in the childrens/tweens programs? Also, how did the wave phones operate?

Thanks for any info you can provide,

Donna

on previous cruises they were lenient about the club ages but not sure if that has tightened up. they do try to make you happy so if you ask I think they will let her.
We did not personally use the wave phones but they seemed to work well. Two per cabin so you can keep track of each other and you can add other numbers of people you meet as well to call them. I think they are a great idea when traveling with kids old enough to be alone but that still need to check in periodically.

Beth, I'll swing a few questions your way.

Obviously the ship must have been crowded. How was the pool situation, both the adult and the family pools?

How was the motion? I can get very motion sick. I stick to my dramamine less drowsy and it works about 95% unless it is pretty wavy. We are forward which I think was a mistake on DCL fault because I always go aft. My fault as well because I didn't check my ressie very carefully.

I've heard some negative things that I'm sure will work themselves out. Were there really problems or just people who expected the perfect cruise?

I was also checking DCL last night and it appears to be sold out. I wonder if when our payment deadline rolls around rooms will open up so that I can go aft.

Beth - I have your FE info. I don't have the info posted on these public boards because...well, they're public. But I can send the list later to you this weekend.

As far as delivering to concierge - I think we'll just have to agree that anything to go to concierge-level rooms will have to be left at guest services for them to put in the fish extenders. That way - everyone can participate.

Beth, were you on the June 24, 2006 double dip Western?

Yes I was- I remember you from then. Since then I have not met many people from the boards until the Maiden voyage-what a great group of people we sailed with!

I found my list so you don't need to send another one, when you update please add my parents- Betty and Joe to our room. They will be passing out their own gift as well.

Guest services seems like a goood idea for gifts on 12 &11, but they were not on the ball on the maiden voyage, they seemed clueless about everything- maybe all new people. The concierge said it was possible to bring them to the lounge and knock on the door. a CM is in there from 7-10 and would then place them in the room. That might be easier than standing in the guest services line which was always very long on our cruise.

There were only 3200 guests on our cruise and the weather was not hot so the pools were not too busy. Unfortunately the pools are not any bigger. They have Nemo's Reef for toddlers, but many very small children were also in the Mickey pool. The hot tubs were filled beyond capacity-they looked like sardines! The adult pool is set up so there are very few chairs around it and it is shaded a lot by deck 12. They have most of the lounge chairs for adults on deck 12 overlooking the pool. I think if our cruise is sold out, it will be crowded at the pool area. They had the majority of deck chairs on 12. The lines at FLo's could also get long and are right in the line of traffic. Saw several rude people walk right into someone carrying food a few times.

the only problem we had was disembarking-a nightmare. we have never stood iin line to get off before. We waited 30 minutes+ in the atrium for the line to move and 30 more in the long line in the room with the luggage. Apparently when the luggage room line was too long they just stopped everyone from getting off.

we also stood outside in the rain for a long time waiting to get in the terminal for embarking, but I saw that now DCL is giving you a time to arrive.

I only noticed we were moving the last night after Castaway, but it was not a big deal, but then I do not usually get sea sick. Odd because I get motion sick on land.

Guest services must have all been earning their ears. No idea about anything. The lines were very long all day every day.

I refuse to wait in line to disembark. We are staying overnight at Cape Canaveral so we will not be in a hurry. I'll just hang out in a chair until they kick me out!!!

What do you mean that you get a time to arrive??:confused3

Thanks

I read on another thread-sorry I don't remeber where that now when you do the online check in a time will be assigned of when to arrive at the port. The poster said it did not apply to platinum and concierge guests. That was the first and only thing I saw about it. I think they want to avoid the long line we had at the maiden voyage.

Had we known the diembarkation was going to be like that we would have been picked up later and waited til the end to get off. They should institute a disembarkation time like we had on RC. Diamond and concierge could get off first. Then they went by your flight time to be sure you got out in time. They also had continueous seating in the dining room, not limited to the 2 times DCL has.

I don't mind the way they do the last morning as long as you don't have to rush for rides and flights.

Hmm....It will be interesting to hear about the "times".

My main concern is getting a Palo brunch ressie. We are going to do at least one CC excursion, the catamaran snorkel. If I can book the Palo brunch ahead of time, getting a low boarding number won't matter. Last time we got closed out because the system wouldn't let me in at whatever un-godly time I got up at. All were taken by 6am. I think we got a boarding pass 6 or 7 even though we were one of the 1st in. Luckily Doingitagain (Marie) was concierge and was able to give us their #1. We barely got a ressie.

Beth, we are forward on deck 9. We were wondering if you know if you can access the forward deck 9 through doors on that deck. I know sometimes you have to go to another deck to access stairs up and down to certain areas.

I know it is a long shot, but I am curious.

From what I remember from giving out our FE gifts there is access from the front all the way to the back, so you can use any stairs or elevators, but I could be mistaken. We were forward on 12 and did not feel any motion in the cabin, but if you want to be aft something may open up as payment is due. Did you ask to be waitlisted for what you want?
