Drawf mine train - are we setting ourselves up for disappointment?

Maybe it's just me, but I sense a LOT of anticipation for the Drawf Mine Train. I think it's been a long while since Disney dropped an awesome ride on us (this while US has done HP) and it feels like there is a pent up hunger for something really cool.

And it seems like everyone is waiting for DMT, and even though we know it's a kids coaster (given placement in Fantasyland) I still feel like people are unconsciously anticipating something awesome.

I know that I can't quite help myself and sort of unconsciously am expecting something really cool.

Could it be crazy amazing? Yes.

But that seems unlikely.

Maybe, but it will have unique features that no other coaster that I know of has. Could be pretty slick.

I don't feel this way. I mean what they've done so far in Fantasyland has been pretty well received. The Little Mermaid is just like the one in Disneyland--no surprise there--but the Dwarfs Mine attraction sounds interesting. Maybe I'm just an optimist

I agree with op. Its in fl and its going to be a kidde ride. It will be ok im sure
but i think many people are getting thier hopes to high.

I'm kind of upset by the ride too, but for the opposite reason. I think that it will be too wild for me. However, I'm sure that others will love it.

If every area of the ride(interior,exterior,queue line) is highly themed and it has somewhat of a thrill factor at least close to BTMR I'll be happy with it.Also don't let it be too short of a ride.The truth is I think most people know this isn't going to be as thrilling as an Everest but the MK was in serious need of a ride like this,if it meets my earlier requirements I'm sure it'll be a huge success,if it's too much of a kiddie ride then I would say they failed because they at least needed something with a thrill level equal to a BTMR or Splash Mountain,they already have the Barnstormer in the kiddie coaster category.

has anyone seen the mock-up video on youtube from the D23 event?

to me it seems like its going to be very much like Splash!. Its got all the elements of a dark ride with a "thrill" aspect at the end. from the mock up video it seems their is no direct drop on the ride, the track is pretty banked similar to the likes of test track. i dont think it will be overly thrilling as its in fantasyland, the ride is aimed at young children.

i think it will be good. if they stick to wha they know which is great audio animatronics, story and themeing they will make a brillaint ride,

alot of people keep saying MK is in need of a thrill ride, i dont think so, MK dosnt scream thrill rides to me, its about the stories and the magic to me anyways.
i always think thrill rides belong at Universal Studios. Disney needs to stick to what has worked since opening, look at jungle cruise, pirates of the carribbean, peter pan, Its a small world, haunted mansion, their all rides with audio animatronic dark rides some with a slight thrill aspect which make it intresting. thatys what disney does best, rides for everyone for every age.

Don't forget that the Mine Train is an addition to the original plan for FLE. I think that real estate was going to be just more princess or pixie M&Gs. Now we're getting a new ride there instead. I'd say that's a positive. I'm not expecting the new attraction to be big on thrills, but I think it will be very entertaining.

For me, I don't equate awesome with thrilling. PoTC is one of my favs, for example.

If its *anywhere* near Splash quality I'll be absolutely thrilled.

Looks awfully cute to me! I don't think every ride needs to be thrilling, but it does need to be exciting. This ride looks like it should be quite exciting.

i would hope any new dark ride should be more than splash quality given how long ago splash was created lol

Little Mermaid is a copy of the DL version so im hopeful for some new amazing state of the art animatronics for the new ride. i know the ride dynamics look amazing.

the ride car creates the feeling one would get from a real mine car, the swaying sort of rocking sideways as you bob down the track.

from the ride mock up they presented the track does seem more banked than steep meaning their is a outdoor section but i would thought it wouldnt be any more thrilling than that of barnstormer.

im really curious to see how they have handled it and how it compares to the old snow white scary adventures, one of my childhood memory favoriates.

i cant wait to go in october, and i cant wait to go late 2014 and see the finished product, hoping to see fantasyland with no boarders and cranes

I think the key is having the right expectations. I'm not expecting something on the level of HP or Splash and hope it's a great D-ticket attraction. If it's better than that, it will be a surprise and not just meet what I expect. I think it's going to be great to have a big draw in Fantasyland that's different than the other dark rides. It's exciting to have an attraction in the MK that might even have a chance at matching some of the best examples. The challenge is not getting too excited since it's probably not on the scale of something like EE or RSR.

Disney has been pretty consistent in saying that 7DMT is going to be more thrilling than Barnstormer and less thrilling than BTMRR, so people who want something on par with BTMRR and Splash will probably be disappointed.

I think it is the theming and detail that will make it a great ride.

Bingo. Disney's niche is not Thrill, it's entertainment as an entire package. I feel confident the Mine Ride will have that. So no, I foresee no disappointment.
