Has anyone done this? How did it work for you?

I was thinking about trying it, but there are a couple things holding me back. I would still need to make dinner for DH and DS, which would be hard for me to do for several reasons. I also, wonder if the people who are losing all the weight drink soda and eat junk food, so just by cutting that out of course they'd lose weight. I don't do those things, so would this plan really work for me?

How much are you supposed to lose in 2 weeks?
Sounds impossible, but I just watched the show (repeat) the other day and people were losing on average 9 lbs in the two weeks. One person said she lost 7 lbs and that was the lowest amount anyone mentioned. It all has to do with the combination of foods you eat and what you don't eat.

Sounds impossible, but I just watched the show (repeat) the other day and people were losing on average 12 lbs in the two weeks. One person said she lost 9 lbs and that was the lowest amount anyone mentioned. It all has to do with the combination of foods you eat and what you don't eat.

I did bariatric weight loss. Not surgery just the program of supplements, diet and B 12 shots. I lost almost 25 pounds in less than 3 months. So it can work.
I would have loved to stay with the program but it was sooooo expensive.

Its been about 4 years and I gained about 12 of it back . It is so hard to get those few pounds off.

It's basically a crash diet, which means it's suitable if you want to temporarily lose a bit of weight (like, if you have a dress for an upcoming event that's a bit snug). But it's extremely restrictive, which means most who try this are likely to gain the weight lost right back when they return to their 'normal' lives.

I don't do this diet but I don't eat processed foods or anything out of a bag. What I will tell you is your cravings are simply GONE. No other word to describe it. Some nights I know I didn't eat enough for the day and will eat more fruit or take a handful of nuts to compensate. to say you forget to eat is an understatement. You simply have zero cravings.....And when I do bend the rules boy do I feel it b/c it is like the EAT NOW switch stays on for hours and hours...

Modify his diet if you like the sound of it. I don't like the shakes aspect of his diet so I don't do that.

I eat almonds and banana for breakfast. Lunch time is HUGE salad with a cup of chick peas and lots of veggies...

Snack is fruit

Dinner - and I am so serious I usually need to make myself eat here. the lunch salad is so huge and the chick peas full of fiber you simply are not hungry with cravings. So I have fish and a salad or baked potato etc. etc.

I too have to cook for DH and DD and they eat a modified version of what I do...

I do believe in the calcium rule that he preaches....and dairy is not good for us but oh so good, I know!!!!!!

Also I use a crock pot A LOT so I am not prepping dinner tempting to nibble etc. This way they eat their crock pot - and I do too depending what it is...but this takes the temping picking part away from me....then my dinner I prepeare as I said fish, etc. and we eat at the same time....When you eat this way food becomes fuel when cravings to pick are not there.......

I researched it and printed out the plan. The only thing that seems really restrictive (too me) is the no-carb thing, but it's only for 2 weeks. It's a jump start, which I think I need to get motivated. There's supposed to be a diet plan for afterwards too, but I haven't looked that up yet.

Dr oz and the doctor show seems to be one big infomercial after another. Weight loss is not found in a pill or tea, it can only be achieved through balancing calories in and out. Period.

I did a very similar program through my ND last year. The only difference is she eliminated all dairy for me - did not include the yoghurt. But my reason was a hormonal issue and so she was pretty adamant about what I needed to eliminate to balance out. I lost 35 lbs in three months. The initial "cleanse" portion with my program lasted three weeks and I think I lost about 9 lbs in that three weeks. Then I added more fruits to the program, red meat once per week, small amount of cheese once per week.

I continued to eat that way until around Thanksgiving, although I was less diligent than I'd been initially, but still managed to maintain the loss and then my mind got the better of me. I decided that since a little here and there was fine, then a little treat Friday night could become Saturday too, then the weekend and by the time we went to WDW in February, I was pretty much back to my old habits. I gained back 15 of the 35 and finally reined it in last week.

I would not call this a crash diet, but a lifestyle overhaul. I just have to remember that the things that caused me to gain weight and feel bad in the first place will do so again and again. There doesn't seem to be moderation for me as far as sugar goes.

I started back on my program including the cleanse portion and as of this morning have lost five of the 15. So IMO, the program is great, I am not hungry and overall just feel better. The trick for me is to have everything planned out. I grill a bunch of chicken and fish at once and cook a big pot of rice and then can portion out those things with veggies and am all set. I've had no trouble cooking for everyone else because I know what I'm eating and it's all ready to be heated.

The other bonuses for me have been better sleep, less nasal congestion and reduction in knee pain (inflammation.) I noticed it last time around and had forgotten about it until I started again. I guess I need a regular slap in the head to keep me on track.

ETA - Dr Oz's plan as well as the one that I follow does not eliminate carb, but wheat. There is still rice on his (mine also allows quinoa) which goes a long way to satisfying/cutting hunger. After the cleanse component I added in gluten free breads, pasta etc.

It looks interesting but I saw a couple things that I didn't like 1) the list of no wheat with except brown rice in parentheses. I think they mean no grains, but rice is not wheat and as someone who has to be GF it bugs me.
2) I could not do the no caffeine thing! I have 3 kids to keep up with and I need my coffee in the AM. 3) a detox bath every night? Who has the time for that? I can't remember the last time I had time for a bath. 4) no additional exercise??? Why can't I exercise to keep my body strong as I diet? I don't want to just lose muscle, I want to lose fat. :confused3

Otherwise it looks like a pretty basic diet, cut the carbs and processed junk= weight loss in most cases.

It's not quite that simple. Watching my calories does nothing for me. I have metabolism type b. It's all about carbs and sugar, not calories.

OP, if you have problems with carbs and sugar, check this out!

I think it means don't do any extra exercise. You can still do what you normally would. I think it's to show you that you can lose weight just by changing your diet. I'm sure you can exercise as much as you want.

I read this thread last weekend, and since I'm diabetic was interested in the link from JaneBanks about losing weight and having Met B. I bought the book Diabetic Miracle by the same author as Metabolic Miracle Diet. It makes so much sense to me, I can't wait to get started on this diet. Thanks for the link to the book!

I think Dr. Oz is a quack. I agree with the PP that these doctor shows are like infomercials.

ETA: What are you supposed to do in weeks 3 and beyond? Gain the weight back and start over?
