Is Dr. Doom's Fearfall an "outside" ride or is it in a building like Tower of Terror?

Dr. Doom's fearfall is an outside ride, which makes it all the more scary in my fraidycat opinion!
It's different than Tower of Terror because on TOT, the scary part is the drop. But on DDFF, it's the high speed shooting upward that's so stomach-turning. You feel like you're going to go straight up off the pole of the ride and keep going into the sky. And then those few seconds of weightlessness before you plunge back down...you feel like you're floating off your seat in thin air. That's the only ride I'm scared of!

You start off surrounded by walls, but then you should out of that about 25 feet off the ground. Once you are free of the base, it is completely outdoors.

I'm riding this for the first time in July and I can't wait. I'm still trying to convince my friend that she will enjoy it.

This is one of my favorite rides. I have to ride it myself because husband will not ride and child is too small. I always ride in the single rider line and never have to wait.

For maximum airtime, stick your arms and legs out as you're going up. You may get a few more seconds in the air!

Sometimes, if you ask, the attendant will even let you ride with the harness as far up as possible (where the belt just clicks). You've got to keep pressure against the harness, otherwise it'll push down as you go up. You'll get a lot of air time if you do that.

It's not THAT scary. Enjoyable... but not that scary. I'm not saying that just because of myself (yes, I like thrill rides) but because my 8yr old wasn't scared riding it when she's scared of other rides! For sure!
You'll like it. :)

Dr. Doom is fun and all, but this is a ride system that exists all over the place, I wish that they would have made it a themed ride throughout. It has such a great set up, great queue...then the doors open...and its just another S&S Spaceshot ride. There is one you can ride right over on I-Drive (you can see the tower there while riding Dr. Doom). Personally, I only do it if there is absolutely no wait. The ones at many other parks are just as...if not MORE...thrilling than this one. The Power Tower at Cedar Point is around 300ft. tall! I will take the total theming of the Tower of Terror any day. Especially now that they have the new random drop profile...so you never know what is going to happen.

Not worth any wait in my opinion...plus why did they name it Dr. Doom's Fear FALL...when really its a SHOT ride, thats the thrill at least. Shouldn't it really be Dr. Doom's Fear SHOT?

LOL, Fear Shot does sound kind of bad. Maybe even illegal... Fear Fall is more of a carnival type ride, but I liked it. Gave me a nice rush...maybe Fear Shot would be a good name. ;)
