Dr. Cinderella's Happily Ever After! WP/GF 2/14/12- End of Honeymoon & Trip Report!

Obviously you can't change the date of the Wedding so is there any way of extending the Disney part of your trip by a day, having a day less in Hawaii?

You could then do everything you want on the actual Wedding day, with the after party, relaxing, etc and have the MK shoot the third day after the wedding, then get flights to Hawaii the next day.

I hope something like this is an option. I take it the MK shoot is getting all dressed up again and having pictures taken in the park? If so, that would be absolutely awesome.

I hope you can make your plans work for you.

Lisa

Thanks everyone for all your advice! Kind of like I thought, neither are really great options. We told our consultant today to book the morning after the wedding for us for now, but we may switch to the other day depending on our flight time and if that date is still available. Not ideal either way, but what can you do? I am hoping in the back of my mind that Extra Magic Days will switch in 2012 and we can switch back to Thursday! Thanks again!

This one I got from Etsy, except mine is a black tank with clear and pink rhinestones

Hi! I LOVE this! I know you got it a little while ago, but do you remember who on Etsy you got it from?

Happy Valentines Day everyone! Today marks our 7 year anniversary of dating and exactly one year until our wedding day! I am so excited to be under the one year mark!! We also got our Letter of Agreement today from our consultant to sign! Many reasons to celebrate today : )

Happy Anniversary/Valentine's Day!! :)
My DF and me will be having our 7 year anniversary in March!

Celebrate Girl!! :woohoo:

Thanks girls! Tonight we are actually celebrating our anniversary, we are doing a dinner/hotel package for the night! We changed our minds about the Park Photo Shoot, we have decided to switch to the day we leave now. We found flights to Hawaii on Fridays that leave at 1:00 pm and get in to Hawaii at 8:45 pm so this should work out pretty well I hope. Our consultant has said we will get dropped back off at our resort at 10:30 am so if we are packed and ready to go we can just change quick and leave by 11:00- will have to get a cab or another direct ride and get to the airport by 11:30 (1.5 hours before our flight). Does this seem reasonable? I hope so!

Aw, yay! Glad things are working out for you. :rotfl:

I would say it sounds pretty reasonable? How long should it take you to get changed? I always get stuck sitting at the airport for at least 2 hours.. cause I always get there waaay too early. I think 1.5 hours to get thru security is PLENTY. Shouldn't take any longer than a half hour I would think?

Unfortunately, just got an email that our departure day- Feb 17th is now already booked by another couple. Im so upset! Just when we had things figured out. I cant believe it because it was only one year yesterday, and our consultant told us thats when MK shoots can be booked. So now our only choice is the morning after the wedding- I am just really upset because Chris just said this is going to "ruin" our wedding night : ( What can you do though? I guess I was just a little too slow in deciding.

I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully it won't be that bad waking up, you can always go back to the room after the shoot and go back to sleep. the only other option I could think of would be waiting to do the shoot until a different trip, since they allow Disney brides up to a year to come back and do the shoot.

I'm sorry you didn't get the day you wanted for your photo shoot. Maybe consider a first look and do it the morning of the ceremony? I know a lot of brides want the groom to see them coming down the aisle, but with a first look you get two special moments, one during the first look, and then the second when the groom sees you with your bouquet, and the music playing and all the guests seeing you for the first time - it's a whole different feeling because it's the actual ceremony. Just my opinion but it may solve your photo shoot problems. :hippie: :goodvibes

Hi everyone! I posted this on the main board as well but- We are starting to make honeymoon plans, and so far we have decided that we are going to Hawaii for a week. Since we will be in Disney for a week as well I dont think we can take any longer in Hawaii. My parents are gifting us 3-4 nights in Oahu at a Disney's new resort- Aulani at Ko'Olina with their DVC points! So we were planning on spending the remaining nights closer to the Wakiki side of the island- we have been looking at the Kahala Resort, a luxury resort located 15 min outside of Wakiki. However, all the research we have been doing has been raving about Maui so now I am wondering if we should go there for the last 3 days instead? Since we will only be in Hawaii for a week so I am just not sure if it is worth the extra time and money to island hop and only spend 3-4 days on each island? If we did this, we would be on the opposite site of Wakiki our whole time in Oahu. We are looking to have a relaxing honeymoon, with some fun activities too- which is why we wanted to stay outside of crazy Wakiki in Oahu. We also just saw the movie "Just Go With It" and Maui looked amazing! I have read things about Maui being extremely expensive compared to the other island as well. Any suggestions from anyone who has been to or is planning on going to Hawaii? We both have never been and I am confusing myself! Thanks!

We are doing Maui for 4 nights, 3 days, followed by Oahu (right on Wakiki) for 4 nights, 3 days. It is a lot in a week, but I don't know when (if ever) we will have the chance to go back to Hawaii, so I deff. wanted to go to more than one island. The flight between Maui and Oahu is less than an hour, so even with travel time it will still only take up half of a day. We decided to go to Maui first because we will also be spending a week and Disney, and figured we would need some relaxation after that! We are staying in a very quiet part of Maui, at the Kapalua Villas. There is also a Ritz Carlton on the property, but we decided to go with a villa so we can cook if we want and have a washer and dryer (both will be welcome after already being away from home for a week). Here is the site in case you want to check it out:

I say go for it and do Maui as well. Oahu looks wonderful, but I feel Maui has the more laid back old school Hawaii feel to it, that we feel we must experience!

Hey! I just picked up the Bridal Guide Honeymoon & Destination Wedding Guide magazine tonight. They have an insider guide to Maui in it so you might want to check it out!

Just popping in to say i love your PJ! I usually am not a pink type of girl, but I love how you're making it so classy.
Btw, you're going to make such a pretty bride :bride:

As for the wedding photoshoot... I've seen this suggestion on other pages.
Would you consider doing the shoot on your one-year wedding anniversary?
That way you guys could get all beautiful again and really relive the magic :goodvibes

Hi, thanks for the compliments! A couple quick updates- we decided to keep our photoshoot for the day after the wedding. I figure we will suck it up and save a little money on the hair/make-up redo and floral refresh! We also booked a few things- our honeymoon flights to Hawaii yesterday. We are flying first class on Alaska Air (who knew they fly to Hawaii!) and I am so excited because its such a long trip, and I have never flown first class before. We also booked our stay at the Grand Floridian for the wedding- we are staying for 6 nights and are hoping to upgrade to the club level once the annual rates come out! My family has booked a 2 bedroom at Bay Lake Towers as well. I have also been working on planning my bridal shower- we are planning on having it in early September and have found a wonderful event planner/florist in the area we are using. She is doing centerpiece mock-ups and a cupcake tasting for us in a few weeks, so I am excited for that. Still have to pick a venue though- I have been waiting for spring to come to go look at places. Lastly, we have been working on filling out the Planning Kit for our Planning Session in July- and I am most excited about the food and cake! We are finishing up picking out our selections for that. Exciting now that things seem to really be rolling!!

Menu's!

With our planning session just a few months away now, we have been filling out our planning kit and picking out what we want to try at the tasting! We have picked out the menu's we won't get to taste as well: We are having a rehearsal lunch at the California Grill and a Welcome Dessert Party at Epcot. Here are the menu's we have chosen:

Rehearsal Lunch at California Grill's Sonoma Room
Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli Appetizer, and Grilled Flat Iron Steak Entree. No dessert, because we will be having the dessert paty afterwards

Dessert Party at Italy Plaza West in Epcot
Vanilla cupcakes with Pink Frosting, Chocolate Dipped Mickey head Rice Crispy treats, Miniature Chocolate Chip Cannoli's, & Miniature Chocolate Bottom Cheesecakes, with coffee and tea bar

Do these menu's seem like enough food?

For the Wedding we are planning on tasting:
Cocktail hour- International Cheese Display
Appetizers- Crab cakes, and Scallops with Truffle Risotto
Salad- Casear plated tableside
Entrees- Parmesean crusted chicken, Chicken Marsala, Pork Tenderloin with goat cheese polenta, and Mahi Mahi Picatta

For the cake, I really want to try all of the flavors!!

Love the menu! I think it will be enough, because from what I've heard people do more chatting and visiting at pre-wedding events than eating, anyways.
Your reception menu looks delish! If I bring a wedding gift can I have some? :lmao:
