Dr. Cinderella's Happily Ever After! WP/GF 2/14/12- End of Honeymoon & Trip Report!

My condolences to you. It is always hard to lose a family member, just remember that he will be there with you in spirit on your wedding day!

Thanks everyone for your support! I appreciate it.

A couple more updates. We just recieved our room block information, and have to work on that this week. It is so confusing! I dont know how I am supposed to predict where everyone wants to stay and for how many days! Once we complete this, we will be able to sign our contract/LOA in 2 weeks! We also scheduled our planning session for July! Chris and I are going with my parents for 4 days and staying at Bay Lake. I cant wait for that! We were also tentatively assigned a wedding planner- her name is Maxine. I guess its not definite until you sign the contract, but cant wait to meet her!

Also bought a few new wedding items this week! A sparkly cake serving set, a unity candle set from Etsy, some Welcome Bags, and a sign for the candy table at my shower. I didnt want to do welcome bags because they seemed like so much work but my Mom wants me to so I think I will just put her in charge of those! I have also been thinking about venues at home for my shower and am going to go visit some soon with my Mom, MIL, and MOH. Here are some photos:

I love your cake serving set! It goes perfect with your champagne flutes. :goodvibes

Wow, you get to sign your LOA in two weeks?!?! Does it feel like time is starting to go faster now? You must be so excited. I'm two months behind you so hopefully it won't be long for me, either :)

Love all the new stuff, girl! So exciting you get to sign soon! It really starts to go fast after that, were almost 9 months out..and I cannot believe it!We will be down late July for our planning session, when did you schedule yours? Yay for time finally passing quickly!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Just know that he will be looking down on you on your wedding day and will be there in spirit.

Congrats on the nomination! And I love your purchases. The unity candle is so pretty, and good idea to put your mom in charge of welcome bags. I didn't really want to do them either, but it's hard to figure out how to get all the info to people and I think our guests did enjoy them.

For the room block, don't stress too much. We did four resorts. The GF since that was where we wanted to stay and it was where the wedding was. The CR because with the discount the rate was really good and it was on the monorail line, so easy for people to get to the GF. CSR - a moderate, I picked this one because of the Queen beds, but not many people really stayed here anyway and they did mess up giving out our welcome bags. In retrospect I wish we had done CBR instead, since we enjoyed it there when we went for our PS. Pop - a value, and seems to be a favorite out of all the other values. Just keep in mind, the more resorts, the more stops if you have a bus.

The other thing, don't get too hung up on the exact number of nights or whatever. If there is availability at the resort your guests will get the rate even if that night isn't blocked. I didn't hear of any of our guests not being able to get the rate, and I know more booked at certain resorts than we had blocked.

Hey Marissa. I am so sorry to hear about your grandfather. I know how tough it is especially when you are planning your wedding to have to go through that. Just know that he will always be in your heart and with you in spirit.

As to the room block, what we did was try to pick hotels we figured people would want to stay at. We and our guests are not value resort people, so we did not choose one but I would suggest choosing one value, one moderate and one deluxe if you want. This way you have a price range for everyone. I picked the same hotels as Sara actually for basically the same reasons-haha - but try not to stress about it. All our guests also got the rate with no problem at all.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the room block advice- it is very confusing! I sent my Sales Consultant a whole list of questions, but he hasnt gotten back to me yet. Sarah we scheduled our PS for the second week in July I believe- when is yours? I cant wait!

We havent booked it yet, Im supposed to be sorting out some dates and getting back to her..:rolleyes1 I should probably get on that! I think we will be going at the end of July or early August because DF will be taking his state boards this summer and doesnt want anything looming over his head, he wants to be free and clear before we go anywhere or do anything related to the wedding. (I dont know what he thinks Ive been doing this whole time, twiddling my little thumbs? Pssshh!!):rotfl:

Thanks girls!!! Our One Year mark is actually 2 weeks from today though, I had originally just made our ticker for February before we got our exact date and I never updated it. We are getting married on our 8 Year Anniversary- which is Valentines Day! I cant wait to hit that one year mark soon!!!!

I asked this on the main boards as well but we have a bit of a dillema about when to do our Park Shoot Shoot in the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. We were planning on doing it 2 days after the wedding, but our consultant has just informed us that they are not doing them on Thursdays anymore due to the time change of the shoots and Extra Magic Hours being that morning. So not our only 2 choices are the morning after the wedding or 3 days after the wedding, which is the day we leave for our honeymoon in Hawaii. We really dont want to do it the day after our wedding, we were planning on having an "after party" with our guests and just dont want to have to go to sleep early or get up early on our wedding night! The other day is not a great option either, because we dont know what time our flights will be, but I imagine to get all the way to Hawaii they would all be early flights. So what should we do? Book the day we leave and hope to get a later flight, or just suck it up and do it the day after our wedding? We could probably save some money that way by not getting my hair redone or my flowers refreshed but we just want to be able to enjoy our wedding night to the fullest. We cant do it before the wedding either because I dont want my fiance to see me in my dress. Dont know what to do!
Advice is needed please! Thanks very much!

that is a dilemma :headache:

i guess out of the two... i would choose the day after. have your after party... try to keep your hair and makeup in good shape--maybe throw your flowers in the fridge before the after party? then plan the next day to just relax, maybe sleep/swim and don't come out until dinner time. You'll want to be all packed up that last morning and won't want to worry about repacking after the shoot, etc.

sorry this is happening to you!

Oh MAAAN! That stinks! I think Deena makes a great point..but I also see your side of it. I dont plan on getting completely schnockered my wedding night but I want to enjoy it. And I know sometimes the next day isnt the "prettiest" if you know what I mean. Also, how does your DF feel about this? Bobby was so against the MKshoot to begin with, and if I had to wrestle him the morning after..it wouldnt be cool. You may be able to get a later flight out, but thats a big risk. What do the flights look like now? Usually they follow the same pattern every week, that may help you make a choice. I think Chris' opinion is key for this choice.

I know I didnt give you an opinion, because really youve got me stumped too! I hope you figure out whats best for you both. Let us know what you decide!!

Hi Marissa, I saw your question on my PJ and wanted to give you my thoughts. We had our shoot scheduled before we made our flight arrangements to Italy (mainly because DF is a procrastinator and I was trying to get him to commit to a honeymoon location). Luckily there is a flight that leaves at around 2pm. So we are planning to just have everything packed and ready to go the night before the shoot with our plane outfits set out so that we can head straight to the airport as soon as we get back from our shoot. As long as it looks like there will be some flight options after 1pm I think you will be fine as long as you are completely ready to go the night before. I don't think that I would want to do the morning after the wedding either, you want that to be a nice and relaxing day!

That's a tough decision. If possible, I would say do it 3 days after the wedding. I guess it depends on if you are morning people or not, but I know me and DF would not want to wake up the morning after the wedding and get all dressed up again. However, we are also flying from Orlando to Hawaii, and I can't find any flight that are later than like 8am. I'm not sure how they will be next February, but for us this June, there are no later options. (Unless you want to arrive the next day). Not to mention the flight times are between 13-15 hours, so it is such a long day, and after waking up super early to do the photo shoot, it would make it even longer. That's such a tough call, I guess I would say if you can get a later flight, wait and do it 3 days after, but if you can't, do it the morning after the wedding. Flights for next February should be out in about a month.
