Downtown Disney Disclaimer showed up today

Boat. I vote boat - we usually park at POR, have lunch at food court, and then take boat to get to DTD and visit LEGO store. Local though, and we are LEGO fans. We go there when there are double points for the LEGO merch, since DH has LEGO VIP card. But, yeah, parking there is a serious cluster. Also, since you will be walking a lot to get to any semblence of store or parking, wear comfy shoes. I was all like, "I'm going to be cute and wear super cute shoes cause we are only going to get LEGO and eat at Earl!" Stupid stupid me. I had blisters for 1 whole week because I was an idiot. But taking a boat from POR or taking a bus verses parking in the new lot - boat or bus is better every time!

Considering the major traffic hassle, would it be worth it to hop on a POR bus from the TTC or one of the parks to take the boat to DTD?
No Resort buses from TTC anymore, but I always go to a Park in the AM and then catch a POR bus and boat to DTD and then reverse the route.

I mainly do it because I consider the trip down and up the Sassagoula an "attraction".:)

Thanks! The boat ride is now on my must do list!

It's been bad to drive to DTD for quite a while now. For our Dec. 2013 trip we ended up parking in the team Disney lot across the street.

You can catch boats from POR or POFQ.

How long is the boat rider from PORS to DTD?

The parking garage experience in January was less than satisfactory. No problems getting in, but very limited options to exit, resulting in multiple lanes of exit traffic coming out of the various floors of the garage all merging into one lane that was often stopped due to a traffic light. We lucked into finding an alternate exit that fed into a right turn which is what we needed to get back to AofA. If we hadn't found this, we would probably have been sitting in an aggravating slow moving line for quite awhile.

Going forward we will use boat or bus, depending on the options available from the resort we choose. Driving is no longer an option for us until we read that the situation has improved.

And it's 20 minutes in fresh air on a relaxing boat and you don't have to drive or worry about getting into an accident!

It's a nightmare even on the bus. I only go if I am at SSR or OKW where I can walk or take the boat. That way you avoid that road mess.

But for the most part I am staying away until it's done! (Went to Raglan Road over St. Patrick's Day weekend, but have no plans to return soon. Still depressing with all that construction!

Any idea if the afternoon parking situation is bad or are the issues more in the evening? We were planning to go to Splitsville at 11am one day and go to dinner prior to La Nouba at about 4pm another and wondering if I should combine them into 1 trip.

Figure about 20 minutes or so.

Yeah, 20 minutes is about right. And I can't agree more about the nice relaxing ride you get on the boat! Especially considering the current state of DTD.

Thanks for the heads up. We are staying off property so no buses to DTD. My husband wants to go there one night (after our AK day) and I'm not sure it's a really good idea.

Good thing HE is driving! And I have a temporary handicap placard due to a hip injury so walking long distances won't be too good for me. (And yes I know I'll be walking a lot at the parks, but I mean in addition.)

Well with a handicap placard valet is free at the deluxes (you should still expect to tip) so you could always visit AKL then take their bus to DTD.

We're staying at the VGF in September. Would it be worth it to drive to PORS and then take the boat to DTD? Will they let us park at the PORS if we are guests at another on property resort?

I've never had a problem parking at PO whether I was a guest or not, I've even visited there as an offsite quest, but as with any thing Disney you never know when they will change up and give you a timed parking pass or refuse entry due to crowds.

I actually emailed Disney to ask about this. They said it is fine to park at POR and take the boat to DTD. They said I would just need to register as a day guest when I arrived at POR. I will be staying offsite, however, so it may be even simpler for onsite guests visiting from another resort.

We went March 16 via boat from OKW and it was fine. So glad we were staying there and could use the boat most of the time to go DtD.
The construction looked a mess.
