Is it possible to get an upgrade have it printed on your docs as an upgrade meaning that I booked a cat 11 docs say room is a cat 9 and now be in a cat 10?
The wonderful team at Dreams is working on it but it seems unfair! Luckily I asked her if she knew our stateroom number just being curious to see if we got any better than the bottom of the ship. And her screen shows we were in a cat 10. Total Downgrade but I wouldn't care if my docs didn't say cat 9! I will know more tomorrow. Ugh! :(

Yes - happened to me on our first 3-night. This experience made me swear off the "category guaranteed" rooms forever. I had booked a Cat 11 Gty. Called about 60 days out and TA gave me the great news that I'd been upgraded to a Cat 9. Our upgrade was printed on all my docs, only to get to checkin at the port and be advised that I'd been bumped back down to a Cat 11.

I know this shouldn't have made me mad since it was what I'd paid for but it was a real inconvenience. The room we were put into was an undesirable handicapped room on a different floor. The real inconvenience (aside from not having the sofa, privacy curtain) was that our luggage was misdirected with the wrong tags, and our gift basket wasn't there when we arrived because it was also delivered to the wrong room along with our luggage (this of course was after the CM at checkin said all of this had been take care of.)

Now when I book I specify which room I want up front so that there are no surprises!

I didn't book as a guarantee. Nor did I ever get my rate adjusted to the $399 special that was advertised. I don't know but to put the upgrade on the docs and then take it away is just wrong. I wouldn't be so upset if they didn't put it in writing on our docs. Oh well :(

So if you didn't book as a gty, how were you upgraded to begin with? If you don't book as a gty, you have your cabin# from the beginning (you've typically been able to select it) and then you could not be downgraded.

The only way I know of for this to happen is to book a particular category as a "guaranty" and that simply means that you will at least get the category you've selected... but COULD be upgraded.

This is the only way I know of an upgrade/downgrade occurring.

Whatever you do, cross through the incorrect cabin# on your luggage tags and write in the correct room... so that you don't have the inconvenience I had with misplaced luggage.

A lot of the rare Disney upgrades are granted to people who did book a specific room...not just guaranteed status.

I agree that once an upgrade has been given, it should be 'GIVEN'! We are in a SPR.... Let's just say we were lucky and got an upgrade... our new room printed on our doc's, etc... Now I too would be very very very upset if I had accepted and expected this upgrade, given up my SPH room (or any room with a desired location, etc.) , only to be bumped back down to a cat10 with NO view.

Seems that the whole situation with giving then taking back upgrades is very bad customer relations and PR!

Shame on you DCL..... ( if anyone there is reading this???)

PS: I do think it is a good idea to do as the OP did and check your room#, just in case.

We were in room 5001 cat 11 on the dreams site. Docs came said room 1054. I am not very keen on deck 1 but with 4 adults we can really really use the split bathroom. So out of curoisity I asked the TA from dreams can you find out what is our room #. My docs say we were in a cat 9 room. So she then tells me no you are in a cat 10. So this morning we were moved back into cat 11.
So basically we got lucky to get an upgrade. Now only to have it taken away.

So it's only money I am gonna have no choice but to pay for the upgrade that was given to me in the first place. I know that originally we would've dealt with what we gotten, what we booked, but it is the point. Kinda like indian givers.

Maybe you will luck out and they will surprise you at checkin. that seems so frustrating to think you are getting a reward only to have it yanked away. I feel bad for you. There have been people who have gotten really reasonable deals on upgrades at the port so if you don't get bumped up for free maybe you can get one of those good deals and get an even better cabin!

You could luck out and get upgraded at checkin. That happend to us. we were originally in a category 10 and then moved up to category 8 and then when we checked in we were in category 4. Yeah, we lucked out, you might.
