Down By The Boardwalk, Out By The Mouse. 3/11 Jen's New PTR Pg. 69

I can't believe y'all are making fun of our snow day. :snooty:

I grew up in Kansas and Colorado and never have I seen a town come to a complete hault the way it does here when it snows.
Typically we have more freezing rain and ice days than snow days, but since our illustrious, nobel peace prize wining, genius, Mr. Gore discovering "global warming," we've had more cold winters and snow than ever before all around the United States, including southern Texas!! Isn't that kinda like washing your car and it always raining after? I'm thinking it might be so.
I have a tendency to believe that just when you think you have things alllllll figured out, our wonderful and awesome Creator always throws a wrench into the plan. :rotfl: I love it!

LL!! and Jen!! I'm more of a lurker than I am a commentator, but I'm so happy to hear of another adventure with the two of you!! :goodvibes
Jen, I didn't realize you moved to my neck of the woods, what area of Texas did you happen to move to? If you don't want to answer on here I totally understand. :goodvibes
I think it would be neat to have a meet if the chance comes up. Maybe we can get a few of the Texas folk to make a meet, and if LL comes this way.... even better!!!

I'm so impressed with the two of you not gaining weight when at the "World." It's not an easy thing to do with all that yummy food! :sad2: I too am starting to work out!! I've been inspired through a dear friend of mine, and y'all are inspiring me too!! :goodvibes

This dear friend was just on the HEAVY show on A&E, maybe some of you have been watching it, such an inspiration to sooooo many!
We just attended a wonderful premiere for my friend Sharon last Monday in Georgetown at the City Lights theater, yes there were that many friends and family members who came to cheer sweet Sharon on and support her as she watched it for the first time along with the rest of us. It's hard to not fall in love with Sharon, she's such as sweet spirit.

If anyone is wanting to be inspired, this show can really help put things into perspective!! ::yes::
Sharon is now on a journey to lose a total of 200 lb. by June 27th, (she's already lost 130) this date is special because it's her sons birthday.
Sharon lost her son to suicide a year ago last Sept. and without having to say...this has been the worst trial anyone can go through.
One of the very last conversations she and her son had before he died was more than anything, he wished her to be healthy. :sad1: (rips your heart out)
This tragedy alone you would think could stop anyone in their tracks, but not Sharon. She so badly wanted to stop living and pull the covers over her head but this last conversation with her son is what got her out of bed and living for the rest of her children. She saw an add, answered it, and next thing you know she's been accepted to be on this show and given an opportunity beyond measure!!

This situation more than anything has taught me, I can over come my weight issues, inspite of my physical limitations at times and, no matter what life throws at you, there's always room for moving foward!! :woohoo:

We struggle, all of us. But we can also get beyond those struggles!! Keep cheering one another on, encourage one another and keep moving forward!! Isn't that what Walt said? "Keep moving forward?"

You gals are doing such an amazing job!! KEEP MOVING FORWARD!!! :yay:

Now I want to go watch Meet the Robinsons. <happy tears>

I actually lost weight while I was on vacation!! I know it's because I don't eat as much when I travel since it's harder for me away from home but I was happy with that.

I :lovestruc the show Heavy! I think it is so inspiring and I saw Sharon's episode last week. I really felt for her. I think weight loss is all mental, you have to be in the right frame of mind to succeed and right now I'm in a good place and I hope to keep that up. It's always going to be a struggle for me but at least I can recognize that.

Good for you for trying to get healthier. :goodvibes

LOL, OMG, that is a snow day?! If that was a snow day here we would've been off yesterday too (which would've been nice considering I was still on a high from the Packers winning the Super Bowl!), haha. We did actually get a snow day last week with the blizzard (our only one of the year!) and we have to make it up. Boo!

I was up bright early....5AM to be exact. I hadn't slept very well the first night, you have to get used to those Pop night noises after all. I was ready to go though, I was at Disney!

I decided to do rope drop at Hollywood Studios. Of course I participated in the Toy Story Mania Running of the Bulls, lucky for me I survived the madness.

Right after I escaped Pixar Place I went back to the Sorcerer's Hat where I found these guys.

I did a lot of browsing in shops, TSM, Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Great Movie Ride of course but the main event at Hollywood Studios for me was lunch at Hollywood Brown Derby!

My beloved Polenta. Rosemary & Goat Cheese Polenta to be exact.

It was very odd eating by myself in resturant but I managed. I ordered a Butternut Squash Bisque, which was delicious but I was only able to eat about half of it. I managed to eat about half of my polenta as well but I of course took that to go with me! No polenta must go to waste when I'm around. I was there for about an hour, I would say. I updated my trip notebook and read on my nook. I think my server thought I was crazy because I was eating so slowly but I tried not to worry about that and just enjoy myself.

After lunch I decided to take the boat to Epcot.

I would like to live in a neighborhood just like this!

Two of my favorite things, bunnies and gold finches!

I started in England and then decided to mosey around World Showcase a bit. I loved looking in the shops at my pace, no Marc being impatient with my browsing...it was bliss!

I bought a cute little gold lucky cat magnet in Japan, it is supposed to bring good financial luck and make all your dreams come true. It's on my fridge and so far I think it's doing it's job!

I watched American Adventure of course.

My favorite picture I took.

I decided to keep going through WS, I was feeling good.

Photopass picture from Italy.

In Germany I stopped at the new Caramel shop, oh my goodness did that small divine! Then I went to the toy store they have and bought some Haribo candy and the cutest teddy bear EVER.

He is the softest, most cuddliest teddy bear ever.

I made it as far as the Outpost in World Showcase where I endulged in a Coke Zero for my drinking pleasure and decided to walk to Boardwalk. I wanted to see the resort we would be checking in too in a few short days. I then decided to splurge and take a taxi back to Pop Century. $8 bucks spent well.

As it was close to 5, I grabbed a bbq bacon burger they were offering at the Pop food court and took it back to my room. I ate most of it...no bun of course and it was delish. I watched some TV, read on my nook and just had a relaxing evening.

I went to sleep with dreams of Magic Kingdom dancing in my head.

Yes, that was our snow day!!! To be fair, there was some ice underneath that snow so they were siding on the side of caution!! But it was fun to watch my goof ball play in the snow and to enjoy it!!! Although I'm pretty good on snow now for the year LOL!!!! How you guys up north do it, I'll never know?? Of course when it's only 80 in the middle of July and I'm dying in 101 feel free to remind me of this LOL!!!

Great Update Leslie!! What a wonderful day at DHS and EPCOT!!!

Thanks to you I'm a new fan of polenta!! SO GOOD!!!!

Awww you took some lovely photos that day!! Love the one in England and the bear at Germany was just adroable!! I walked into there later in the trip and saw the lamb you mentioned...SO CUTE!!!!!!

Glad to hear the cat magnet is bringing you good luck!!! That's awesome!!!

Hey Jenny Girl!!! I LOVE the snow pics!!! :thumbsup2 Prince P looks sooo happy! :) You can tell him that a TRUE NORTHERNER says he has perfect snow angel form!!! :lmao: Glad you enjoyed it!! :goodvibes

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:at your "snow". Could you even measure it???
No, I'm glad you and P enjoyed it.

Leslie - Your day 2 sounds really nice!! I think a lot of people have a weird fear of eating alone someplace other than fast food. No biggie. You can eat whatever, wherever and for however long you like!
I'm just impressed that you went into the caramel store and you didn't buy any!! Good for you. I think most of my souvenir money will stay in that shop!! Did you happen to notice if they are on the DDP (any snack credits is what I'm wondering)?
What a cute Teddy Bear!! I could cuddle right up with that one!
Your PP picture with SE in the background was quite lovely too.

Sounds like a nice relaxing day. It's reports like this that really make me want to go for a solo day or trip sometime. It seems so nice just to be able to go at your own pace like that.

It's been so long since I've seen Chip and Dale! I've had some bad luck finding these guys. Maybe next trip I will.

I especially like the picture you took of the garden in the UK. It's a beautiful shot!

Jen...that's what we call a dusting in Chicago :rotfl: but hey glad you had a fun snow day and a nice break too :goodvibes

LL love your mini tour around WS and your morning at DHS plus lunch. DS wants to eat at the Brown derby for our anni trip in Oct it's on our list of possible ADR's I will have to remember the polenta

and not to sound dumb...but what is this "nook" you are reading on? ;)

looking forward to more highlights

That's so amazing!! :woohoo: I never lose weight when on vaca, it just hasn't been in the cards for me in the past, next trip we'll see how that changes. :goodvibes

I'm so glad you got a chance to see HEAVY!! :yay: It's such an inspiration, is it not?!? I know you'll be able to keep up with your weight loss, your a strong gal! Think of all the trials you've come through so far!! :thumbsup2

I think your right, it really is a mental thing, but I also know that my strength doesn't come from me, like Sharon I believe in a wonderful and powerful Maker who gives me strength and a new mind set to get through anything. Do I have bad days still? Yes. Do I have still have challenges? Yes. Do I suck at it at times? Yes.
But I know that I have a tower of strength to get me through those moments and come out the other side a winner!! :cheer2:

Any time you need extra support with this call on your places of strength, who ever or what ever that is for you.
There's an amazing amount of support even here on the DIS boards, don't hesitate to call on us!
I don't know if your on FB or not, but Sharon is and would loooove to hear from anyone going through weight loss challenges (as we all are from time to time), PM me if you ever want to know how to get intouch with her. :goodvibes

Great update by the way! :thumbsup2 Your taking your sweet time around the world, I love it! It's something I've always wanted to do when there. :cloud9:

Ahhh, the World showcase saunter... one of the things I most love in the whole world!!

So glad you enjoyed that AND your lovely polenta!! :cloud9:

What a wonderfully relaxing day, LL! DHS, Brown Derby, Epcot wanderings, and an adorable German teddy bear! :lovestruc

Plus, there was no Epcot meltdown! That is awesome! Maybe there is hope for me!

that snow day is a riot!

I want a snow day big time. I was so afraid of one during before the holidays and now just want a day OFF!

Not that I'd get it off of course but oh, I want a day OFF!

Wonderful day Leslie, it just sounds lovely and very very relaxing!!!!!!!!!

Hey Jenny Girl!!! I LOVE the snow pics!!! :thumbsup2 Prince P looks sooo happy! :) You can tell him that a TRUE NORTHERNER says he has perfect snow angel form!!! :lmao: Glad you enjoyed it!! :goodvibes

Awww thanks Kim!!!!! Prince P was VERY happy for the snow!! You can take the boy out of Michigan but you can't take the Michigan out of the boy!! He enjoyed it for the whole 3-4 hours it lasted LOL!!!

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:at your "snow". Could you even measure it???
No, I'm glad you and P enjoyed it.

Oh Sheree we had too much fun!!! I think they said we got an 1.5 inches LOL!!!! It was a hoot to see and play in!!!!

Jen...that's what we call a dusting in Chicago :rotfl: but hey glad you had a fun snow day and a nice break too :goodvibes

Yes a dusting to one man is a snow day to another LOL!!!! It was a nice break, but considering we have to make those up, no more snow is okay with me for this winter!!!

that snow day is a riot!

I want a snow day big time. I was so afraid of one during before the holidays and now just want a day OFF!

Not that I'd get it off of course but oh, I want a day OFF!

LOL!!! Isn't that the way it is!!!! It was a good time for the break so I could get my bearings back!!!! Now it's back to busy busy busy!!!!!

I bought a cute little gold lucky cat magnet in Japan, it is supposed to bring good financial luck and make all your dreams come true. It's on my fridge and so far I think it's doing it's job!

I have one. I'm needing a new dryer, new tub, and new flooring out of it. I probably should buy it a helper when we go back. I guess my financial needs are a little too much for just one small kitty.

That's how it works here, too. We almost always get that dangerous sheet of ice underneath whatever snow we get.

I do not know how the people up north take this for months on end, either. We are going to break into the high 50's next week, and I am fairly excited about that! :cool1: I am hoping to see some 70's in Orlando in a couple of weeks, too. :woohoo:

What a wonderfully spent day LL :goodvibes
LOVE polenta!!! Sooooo yummy :thumbsup2
That is the cutest Teddy Bear!! What did you name him? Has he met your sheep yet? ;) Ziggy has a little one similar to that called Cosgrove that he sleeps with :rolleyes1

Tracy

What a perfect day! I had a grin on my face the entire time just imagining you meandering through the parks - NOT experiencing Epcot overload :yay: and enjoying all your meals. :cloud9: LOVE the pic of you in Italy, soooo cute!

Leslie - great update! You look wonderful in your pictures and I love your haircut! You certainly put some miles under your feet on your first day. Sounds like it was the perfect first day with great weather and lots of down time to enjoy the sights and sounds. Your teddy bear is adorable.

I think I need to get one of those magnets!!! ;)

Your afternoon/evening meandering around WS is awesome! I dream of doing that myself I have to say, how nice. And at this time of year, I bet it was even nicer, b/c it wasn't so hot. I LOVE your hoodie... that black and purple one. What a cute photo of you in it! Now switch back to lunch, that polenta... GOSH I think your tip about polenta on the side is one I will most definitely be taking advantage of! :thumbsup2
