Down By The Boardwalk, Out By The Mouse. 3/11 Jen's New PTR Pg. 69

Tuesday, January 25th- Jen's Arrival Day Highlights!!!!!

I'm sure my Tuesday will look drastically different than Leslie's Tuesday, because mine was filled with getting to Disney!!! I look forward to seeing her highlights for that day!!!! So i must start with a disclaimer that my arrival day seems to be a comedy of errors...but all is well that ends well and it was a GOOD day!!!

So my day started off with a late substitute and a broken computer bag. The last think you want to deal with on your drive to the airport is a bag that breaks as you are leaving the school and getting into the car to get to the airport LOL (HUGE THANK YOU TO GELLYBEAN FOR GIVING ME A RIDE THAT DAY, SHE IS THE BEST!!!)

So Highlight #1, the 10 minute dash into Wal-Mart to get a new bag while Gellybean and son drove circles in the parking lot!! The whole thing seemed very Mission Impossible as I ran down the aisle to electronics, prayed that the self checkout wouldn't screw up and jumped into the passenger seat and zoomed to the airport!! But isn't my new bag pretty.

Highlight #2: Flying on Southwest for the first time and loving it!!!

So all that dashing and I made it through security in 10 minutes with an hour to wait! I love the boarding system and was able to get an aisle near the front so I knew I could make a quick getaway when the plane landed!! As you all know I'm not a good flyer at all, but this was a great flight and Southwest has won a new convert!!!!

Highlight #3: MCO Airport and Choosing your Own Rental Car

So at 3:00pm MCO is not hard to navigate at all!! I finally figured out what you all mean by the mini Monorail LOL!! :rotfl: Made it to Alamo and found out that I was going to be able to PICK my own car...REALLY :cloud9: I've never been able to do that before!!! So off I went and I picked out this beauty....notice the red color....this way I wouldn't lose it in the parking lot!!!!

Highlight #4: Seeing Leslie and Dinner at Ragland Road!! YAY for finally seeing Leslie again!! Thanks to a tip from Leslie I was able to make a reservation for here!!! Met up with her at WDW after taking care of getting my TIW!! Checked in early (I was starving, hadn't eaten since breakfast and it was 5pm) and had a great meal!!!

Highlight #5: Shopping at World of Disney and really it's going to rain like THAT tonight LOL!!!

After Dinner we did some shopping at World of Disney!! I had an AP discount burning a whole in my pocket!! I remember getting Phillip a gift and picking up a onesie for Gellybean!!! Then it was time to check out....OH BOY was it raining! Apparently we were under a tornado warning??? Who knew!!! It was like a flashback to May 2009. Thankfully I had switched my shoes beforehand and had flipflops on, so did Leslie and we decided the car wasn't that far and the rain wasn't letting up, so back to the resort we went!! Did we get wet...why yes we did...but we dried quickly and settled in for the night!!!!!

See ya at my Day #2!!!!!!

Sounds like a fun day right up to the monsoon/tornado warning! :scared1: And I guess that answers my question as to whether Disney does anything to warn/prepare guests in those instances.... Nope, just keep on shopping. I would have done the same thing and am glad you didn't know about the tornado warning and have any undue stress.

So you enjoyed Raglan Rd? Is that fish and chips you had? I'm excited to eat there in May! As a true obsessive DIS'er I have been reviewing the menu and trying to decide what to order. :upsidedow

Nice new computer bag.

I was thankful for a friend that got me to the airport last time when Jill was stuck in traffic on her way to my school. It's sure nice to have friends. :)

Our Southwest flights have been good, too. :thumbsup2

After a long day, travel, and a lot of rain, I bet hot showers and a cozy bed felt pretty good.

I'm ready to hear all about the trip. :dance3:

I worried about that weather and your arrival!
So you checked in early to Raglan Rd? We may have to go over for some late night fun in June! I  the music and dancing! You will too!

Sounds like you two got double clean that night! Hooray for finally getting to see each other, then getting cozy after that rain storm!

Great update Jen! Great pictures. What a cute little rental car. Love it! (Oh Wait - is Mr I Wont Rent a Car around????)

So glad you enjoyed dinner. I can't wait to eat there in May.

I LOVE SWA. They are the only carrier I will fly to Orlando. I have never had a bad flight. Most of my flights are great. Usually the flight attendants are pretty funny too. And being a sherpa, I take full advantage of my bags flying free.

I remember hearing about all that rain and flight delays and stuff. So glad you got there ahead of the rain.

Nice computer case.

great update and fun highlights....until the monsoon that is, yikes! There is nothing better than that first Disney meal....ahhhhhh

:goodvibes

I love Raglan and can't wait to go there in May!

I was worried too, but was glad to see that the rain was going to wait until I was safe on Disney property!!!! But boy did it rain that night!!!! Definitely was wet and ready to get back to the resort LOL!!!!

Yes Ma'am...we are going to have to party it up in June!!! I defintely would love to see all the late night fun at Ragland!! Although I hear I might be able to get Mary Ellen to do some dancing in April LOL!!!!!

Renting a car is a must do for me!! I just can't imagine not having the ability to get around when I want and how I want!! Nothing against Disney transportation...I just like the freedom a rental car gives me!!!

I am learning to love SWA they just might help me conquer my fear of flying!!! They are a great airline!!!

So rumor has it we might get you to do an Irish jig in April LOL!!!

great update and fun highlights....until the monsoon that is, yikes! There is nothing better than that first Disney meal....ahhhhhh

:goodvibes

I love Raglan and can't wait to go there in May!

Yeah, the monsoon was one of those NOT AGAIN moments, thankfully we wouldn't have to deal with rain too much on this trip, just the first night and morning LOL!!!!

Oh that meal was very good too...I'll probably get the same thing when I go back plus I MUST HAVE that BREAD PUDDING!!

Yeay for Jen making it to Disney!!! What a lot of rain, though, at DTD! Yikes!

I was very happy to be there!! Thankfully a lot of rain and wind was all we had to deal with that evening!!!!

The first time I even heard about being under a tornado warning was your text LOL!!! I was like hmmmm...maybe we should check on the weather LOL!!!

Yes I enjoyed Raglan Rd. a lot and the fish and chips were amazing!!! Of course I have been reviewing menus too!!! Disney food is just so much better than regular food LOL!!!

Nice new computer bag.

So at 3:00pm MCO is not hard to navigate at all!! I finally figured out what you all mean by the mini Monorail LOL!! :rotfl:

:rotfl: that is so funny...have you never flown into MCO then? and yes I agree SWA is the best...can't see myslef flying w/ anyone else!

I was very happy to be there!! Thankfully a lot of rain and wind was all we had to deal with that evening!!!!

Especially since you were under a tornado warning! Yikes! There are certainly times when NOT knowing is better than knowing, and I think that was one of them! :goodvibes

Yikes! A tornado warning!! But, sounds like you two made the best of the rain...sometimes running in the rain with a best friend can be a great memory maker. :goodvibes Any pics of your purchases? :hyper:

Oh-and what is the new Southwest boarding procedure?

Ohhh I remember reading about the tornado warning and knowing that you were flying in that day/night....well at least you were oblivious to it which is likely a good thing :scared1:

RR looks delish...can't wait to eat there....I too have been perusing the menus :rolleyes1

Tracy

Wow, Jen, after your first day, I would have collapsed! I can't imagine how you packed so much into one day!!!!

I also LOVE Southwest!

It's so cool that you were able to pick your own car. I would have loved that.

Great job completing your laptop bag mission!

Nope, never flown into MCO before so I was a bit nervous, but I figured my way around and I think I'll be good from now on!!! I definitely will be flying from now on instead of doing the drive LOL!!!!!! SWA is amazing, just booked my flight for the April/May trip!!!
