There used to be a KK about 1 mile from me but it just closed..the closest is now about 10m. I love driving by, hoping to see the light on, telling me the doughnuts are hot! That's the best way to eat them..they just disinigrate in your mouth!! TH's are alright...kinda on the same level as Dunkin Doughnuts. Seems like they are always tough/dry.
Sorry guys but nothing can beat a Tim Hortons donut and a coffee (me a hot chocolate) on a wintery morning watching your son at a hockey practice at 7am in the morning.
I leave to head to the states I have a Timmies and when I return I head there first thing too.
I haven't had a TH. They were closed on our very long trip through Canada. But to me the KK are yuck. No polite way to put that. I've had them fresh and the ones that they ship everywhere and they just do not appeal. I am spoiled by Dunkin' Donuts and Yum Yum. You can get regular and cake donuts, jellies, etc.
I do not like the taste of KK's at all, they are too sweet.
We live in the hometown of Wendys and after they bought Timmys years ago they put them everywhere here! Yum, yum, yum. Nothing is better in life than a hot chocolate and a freshly made boston creme donut.
I agree that KK and TH are really different. KK are airy and sugary... they always taste like, I don't know, fried icing to me! But I've gotta say, I've never had a fresh hot one and didn't realize there was a difference.
About the TH donuts-going-downhill thing... I know they're prepared centrally and they send out the same dough to all the THs, but I find there's a big difference between different outlets (not just between a real TH and the TH donuts at a gas station) I don't know how they do it but there's a drivethrough near me where those donuts still rock!
I used to enjoy Dunkin Donuts but lately it seems they are never fresh in NY it is like they make them once a week so much for time to make the donuts.
KK at least you know they are fresh when the light is on
I'm in love with KK doughnuts. I like yeast based doughnuts vs cake doughnuts. VERY different tastes. I'd assume that cake doughnut fans wouldn't be in love with KK. Although KK does usually have at least one cake doughnut variety at their stores. Though this does not sound like it applies to Disney, just their stores.
Lol. We went from Alaska to Montana via Canada (Yukon, BC & Alberta) practically non-stop. If you have ever been on the AlCan Hwy through the Yukon then you know it's mostly beautiful wildnerness and not much else. The one place in BC that we stopped they were closed. Very dissapointed, but it was like 4am and we were waiting for the gas station to open so we could get some gas. We didn't come across one while we were in Edmonton. Granted, we only stopped there for sleep and wound up leaving the next day and got into Montana and haven't seen another TH's since.
We would have loved to spent more time in AK, but we only had the small amount the military gives you for relocation and had to get from AK to the states ASAP without spending all the funds. Dang it. We plan on going to Quebec in the near future, so maybe I can try them out when we are there.
