I'm a SAHM. I just couldn't go back to work (as a teacher) after my dd was born. Its been tight, but couldn't imagine anything doing anything else. A nice part time gig from home wouldn't be too bad though. I just don't know what I'd do.

And we just made the plunge to homeschool. I just pulled my dd out of 1st grade last friday. We're so excited. I'm sitting right now with my dd on my left and ds on the right-and we're doing all kinds of projects. This week has been "field trip" week-we've been to the zoo, library, and a book signing with the Blue Dog artist George Rodrigue. We're going to do a DisneyWorld Unit in November-to get ready for our Dec. trip. :)

As to your poll. I'm a SAHM to 4 kids. My middle 2 just had their b-days at the beginning of Oct so now my crew is 10.5, 5, 4, and 2.5. Dh is a restaurant manager and while it's not a high paying job is it enough to get by on since we live a rather frugal lifestyle in a LCOL area.

4 kids - whoa! I know quite a few people with 4 kids but it just amazes me that people have 4 and even more. With 2 I think it's hard sometimes! One of the mom's from DS's school just had her 5th!

my usual problem is i forget to remove the ticker from my signature when I get back. then i end up one of those people who has one that says 6 months ago I went to disney. That makes me laugh!

That is funny! I didn't even think about that. I may leave mine just so I can see it do that! :rotfl: It would be nice if you could add a frowny face to it with your last visit date.

Another homeschooler. What did your DD say about leaving school and her friends? I don't know whether to be jealous of you guys or think you're crazy! On one hand I think it would be so cool and you can keep that flexibility and keep your "babies" at home with you. On the other hand I am really enjoying the 4 hours a day I get with DS going to pre-k. Although all I'm doing during that time is working and taking care of the other DS (7 months). I'm not sure that I could do it. And I guess not all children thrive being homeschooled either??? DS1 doesn't seem like he would thrive because he doesn't listen to me, he's too busy telling me what he knows!

I wonder how Julie's trip is going. It seems a little quiet without her. I hope they are having fun. Well, I guess they are - it is Disney World!

i have no idea how this board works, i am going to disney on dec 6-13 i have a 4 and 5 year old. this board was recommended to me. can someone tell me what to do? how do i get a stroller?:confused3 thanks

Sure. The disboards are full of useful info and helpful people!

Our stroller is unavailable on those dates but you may be able to find one here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1885802. They have a list of other stroller swaps. Or you could start your own!

Basically we purchased a stroller and some accessories and split the cost between all participants until we got the cost down to where we wanted it and dates were filled. Now the originator of the swap has offered it for free to some swappers. We are handing off in various places down there with each hand off organized by the two swappers. For our swap it was not limited to just folks on-site but if you had a car and could pick it up then we could participate.

If you need any help, let us know. Sorry we don't have it available.

Hi ladies, sorry I've been MIA lately, things are busy and trip planning has gone to the wayside.

As for the poll....I'm a PT WOHM, to DS4 and DD2. I'm a public librarian and work 15 hours a week. DH is a farmer, so when I'm at work, he has the kids with him. On Wednesday's they go to my parents, to hang out with Nanny and Poppy.

Financially things can get tight, but we've had no daycare costs and don't have the need for fancy toys, clothes etc. That way I'm able to do the WDW trips 2x this year (that and my parents are helping us out too...they want to go with the kids, and that means I get to go too)

Can't wait to go to WDW and use the stroller. I hope all works out well with the exchanges.

Isn't it amazing how much our parents still do for us?! I always think about that and think, wow, this job truly never ends.

MK--Hope you have a great trip!!!! You may have left already, I didn't have a chance to get online sooner. I hope you hve a safe trip with great weather and a great time all around!!

Julie-Welcome back!! I can't wait to hear how the trip went! Did the kids totally love it??

Hi everyone!! We had a wonderful trip. The weather was great, the crowds were light most days and we all had a blast.

The stroller was great too. I'm not sure we would have made it to do as much without it. We didn't have it the first 2 days (never heard from Melanie and the cell number I got didn't work??, but did track it down at Pop and they sent it over for me on Sunday). So, once we got it, the kids thought they were in heaven being pushed around everywhere. :) It pushed SO easy, even dh commented on how easy it was.

As someone else posted, the stroller won't fit through the gates at MK. We just had the kids get out and dh lifted it over the gate. We didn't have problems anywhere else. We didn't attempt the buses with the stoller, so I'm not sure how that would work. Since we had the car, we drove everywhere but to MK (rode the boat over). It just seemed faster and easier for us.

Oh, and I'm not sure when it happened, but right between the seats, I noticed that the seam had popped loose - about an inch or so long. I sewed it up and it held fine the rest of the week. So, those of you that see that it isn't the same color thread - that's what happened. :confused3

I talked with Mary Kay yesterday and let her know the claim number for the stroller at WL. Hopefully she was able to get it with no trouble today.

I'll dig out a couple of pictures soon and post them. I need to get back to doing laundry and getting ready to go back to work tomorrow. I'll catch up on the rest of the updates here if anything then.

I am so glad it worked out for you!!!
That does suck about the 1st 2 days though---maybe everyone who reads this can pick up on that so no one else has delays.

Thanks for sewing the tear you found, I would have never thought to bring a sewing kit.
Glad to hear it sounded like a great trip!!

Princesslily---
I haven't heard from you in a while. I have not yet received payment. Please let meknow if you are still joining, or I will need to reopen those dates and edit my title. That was the last paid spot. If you are not joining I need to ask for a payment from someone else who has joined, so I need to be made aware of what is going on.
I do see you are listed on 2 swaps for those dates, this and another has you listed as unconfirmed. Just need to know for certain, thanks!!
Jill

Hey Julie - welcome back!

Sorry to hear the stroller wasn't around the first two days, I bet that was hard on the kiddos.

How did they like it overall? Which character dining did you like best? Which park did you guys start with? We're debating on which park to start with right now. We have the schedule somewhat outlined but there are a few kinks so I'm redoing. I'd really like to just pick a park each day but we're not able to do that this trip due to the business events that are taking place.

I forget if I mentioned this, but we had some Disney Dollars laying around form forever ago (when they actually looked like dollar bills but had characters on them - do they still have those?!). I decided to create a money chart for DS and let him earn money for the trip for doing nice things, cooperating, etc. However, he can also lose money as well. So far (in about a week's time or a little more) he's earned almost $3. He's been on the same $3 for a few days, bouncing back and forth between earned and deducted!

I also finished up our shirts. I haven't taken any more photos yet but they look good and they are done! Except I'm making a few more for the baby

because I returned the ones I bought him from the Disney store. I figured we didn't need those since I finally found some onesies for him.

I've also decided to make a few shirts for my friend's son so that when they go down he'll have some. I just have to go find some shirts that will fit him!

We're getting close, I can't wait!!!

One of my friends had her 6th girl this year and another is due with her 5th baby in Dec. Once you have 2 adding in more is pretty easy. DH and I are still waffling over having another 2. I've got baby fever something fierce but our bank accts and house size say no way!

Oh my goodness, I can't even imagine! I know the feeling of baby fever, I'm so scared I will get it once my baby is a little older. I already get emotional over it from time to time thinking this may be the last. However, if money permits later in life we may adopt a toddler girl. I have one friend who wants to have several kids and I just hope when she's on her third (or even when she's pregnant with the second) that I don't catch the fever!

We are loving homeschool. Dd doesn't miss her friends as we see them outside of school. And we're making some new homeschool buddies. We've been staying extremely busy. October is my favorite month of the year-weather is great and there's so much to do. And for November, we're going to do a unit on Disney World! It should be so much fun and get us in the mood for our trip.

totally unrelated to the swap in any way

Do any of you guys have a Wii? I bought the kids DS a while back, and am thinking Wii for Christmas---do a family gift instead of a bunch of stupid little things that don;t get used in a week anyway.
Buy a Wii, Wii fit, maybe a game for each of us, and extra controllers.

My Dh doesn't work a lot in the winter, he has a tree service, so he is home with us, this way we can do something together everyday allwinter long---except when we are away!!

What does anyone think of the Wii?

My kids love the Wii. I will not get one for my house, because I can't justify the cost when we are never home. However, my sister has one and my kids are always using it.

Its so cute to see the kids trying to hula hoop, run, ski etc.

I would completely reccomend it!

1) Has anyone tried T-Rex yet?

2) Anyone who has been to one of the MVMCP or MNSSHP events before, do you think if I bring the kids' Christmas sweaters I may get a photo op with decorations? We are going too early for the whole park to be decorated but I was wondering if they might have certain areas or something. That would help me avoid paying a portrait studio price for my cards! HMMMM, I could even do the photopass if they offer something like that. Oh, I better take them!

in 2 weeks it will still be Halloween stuff unless I'm having a brain freeze. So until the Christmas parties start there won't be any Christmas decorations. Even for the first week or so of the parties it won't really be overly decorated.
