Did any of you just book your cruise recently? I just booked mine last week and the website says they have onboard credit, but the agent told me with the package I bought they don't have it? Just wondering if anybody else had that problem.
Tonya

i have booked with them and i didn't get the credit but the discount on what you would have paid through disney made up for it. check the disney cruise site and see how much more you would have paid instead.

Thanks! Sometime I want to stay at VWL - just wonder how hard it will be to get at 7 mos. out. It looked beautiful over there!

It would depend on the time of year that you wanted to stay there. December would be difficult but there is success with wait lists. Most other times of the year, for now, not so much of a problem.

I love it there because it is so cool in the warmer months (all those trees!) and warm in the winter months (all those fireplaces!). Come give it a try!:goodvibes

Doug46, I'm sure Ann Arbor is all a flurry this morning! I just wanted to say "May the best team win!!"

GO BUCKS!

OH-

I'm so jealous of all you snow-people! Here in Dallas area, we went down to the 40s two nights ago, but we're back up to 80 today. I want cold weather for Thanksgiving...I'll be sweatting my rear end off if it's warm because I refuse to wear SHORTS to Thanksgiving dinner! :)

And on that note--I'm hosting my FIRST Thanksgiving ever. We've always traveled elsewhere to visit (mooch off of) my Mom, grandparents, etc. So I've always lucked out of actually having to be in charge of anything :)

But since my Grandpa passed away last Christmas, we thought it would be better to get Grandma out of her house & do something new & different. So...I volunteered & here we are...meere days before everyone invades!

We'll have our college son home  , my divorced-but-still-friends Mom & Step-Dad, my Grandma, my husband's ex-wife (who I adore), & my stepdaughter & 4yo son.

Our homeschool friends came over on Wednesday and mocked me for my monster check list taped to the fridge. They called me June Cleaver...:rotfl:

I hope if any of you are travelling that you have a SAFE trip!

Hey everyone....

I know, I know....I haven't posted in a long time...but I have been trying to read and catch up every day or every other day or so....you guys are just too chatty and every time I think I'm going to post a reply.....

1.) i realize I have too many things to comment on, then
2.) realize it'll be a long post, then
3.) realize I don't have time to write it out and post it, then
4.) put it off til later, then
5.) realize it's been over a week since I've made a peep on the board at all!!

Needless to say I have seen dear Hadley's calls for me to post again....and I'm still out here...just very busy after our trip to California and then turned right around and went on another business trip to Albany, NY...now Thanksgiving coming up, then pretty much right after that another work conference in Atlanta linked to a fabulous 4 day trip to WDW...and then it's time for Xmas!!! What a busy (and fun) way to end the year. Once we're done with the holidays, however, all our attention is focused on the Double Dip trip. We've got most of our bookings done and everything....now we have to just pay off the cruise and figure out excursions and Palo and all that good stuff! :)

Hope everyone has a great turkey day!

I just checked, but it looks like they only have Oct. 08, not Sept. I just looked to see and it's about $900 more. You're right, I guess the deals are better, so I should just be happy huh? lol

I booked with DU back in May and got a $200 OBC through them. Disney was not offering anything at the time otherwise I would have tried to book with Disney and then transferred it so I would get whatever Disney was offering and also what DU was offering (seems to me lots of folks do this).

I didn't know you could book through Disney then transfer it. How does that work?

Hi everyone - just a quick fly-by! Need to get some sleep!

Heather, sounds like you have a houseful - have fun cooking for your family this year! We are going to DHs parents, so I'm not cooking, but Ryan and Dana and little Mason will be staying with us for the weekend, so I'm sure I'll cook something sometime :rolleyes1 Happy Thanksgiving!

Welcome back, Erik! It is hard to catch up! I've been so busy I am mostly a "lurker" lately!

HI everyone,
Been busy with work, school and getting ready for our Trip Dec 5:thumbsup2
Whe we booke back in Feb:scared1: I think we got a $25 OBC frome Disney, then switched to DU and got another $150, I havent looked in a while but I think the price has gone up considerately.

Hope everyone has a GERAT Monday:banana:

Hi Everybody...
Anyone have any ideas on how to gift wrap a cruise?
I am giving my parents and my wife's parents the Double Dip cruise as their Christmas present. I was thinking of wrapping the DCL planning DVD, but I don't think it will arrive it time. We are spending Christmas and New Year in Houston this year. Between Christmas and New Year, we are also celebrating my dad's 80th Birthday/Family reunion.

2008 is going to be a busy year for my parents. In January they will be visiting us in NY, then February they will be visiting my sister in California. They don't know it, but in May they will taking another tirp. For my dad's birthday present, my siblings and I are chipping in to send them to Germany. We have some friends there that have already volunteered to be their tour guides.

Jason gave me a cruise for our anniversary a few years ago....and what he did was went to the DCL website and cut and pasted pictures of the boats and DCL logo and he used them to create homemade "gift certificates" and printed the cruise dates etc. on them....then put them in an envelope in a small box and wrapped that. It'll give you an opportunity to get very creative and crafty!! :lmao:

I have now been diagnosed as allergic to dissolvable stitches. WHAT!?!?! you say? :rotfl: Yeah, I'm there with you. But with the left side of my lower lip still very swollen 13 days after the point that it was supposed to be "back to normal" and no fever, that's what the doc has determined. He had to cut out the "dissolvable" stitches that were supposed to vamoose after 5 days--max 10 days.

So, in time for Thanksgiving, I should be able to eat again... I hope. :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

Oh, and you know the true indignity of this mess? I lost no weight while "not being able to eat" due to pain. :sad2: I tell ya, scales have it out for me!

:rotfl: Allergy to stitches.... Geesh. My mom is amazed I made it to adulthood! :rotfl:

I hope everyone has a lovely, wonderful, and safe Thanksgiving!

Brandie

Oh Brandie:rotfl2:  You are just a mess (you know I mean that in the most positive of ways?!) You poor, poor thing. I am sneding lotes of Pixie dust towards Denver for you:goodvibes

ERIK:banana: you're back. No more trips without me, huh? I think that sounds like a good plan:laughing:

We had a great weekend with my sister in law. We took the kids bowling and played skeeball to boot. We went out for breakfast and watched the snow flurries (thanks Kimberly) through the window as they fell on Lake Winnipesuakee. We went to Japaneese steakhouse and to listen to a band to celebreate our friend's birthday and marvelled at how easliy Karen handles meeitng new people. We danced half the night away. We saw Nunsense (starring a friend of ours). We played games (broke out POP 5 before Christmas to paly it with her--Chris and ROb you are correct it's a great game). And now I am ready to collapse:lmao: If only the laundry would do itself:laundy:

We are spending Thanksgiving at the nieghbor's house. Friday morning we will probably do a small bit of shopping (there are always one or two deals worth fighting the crowds for. Last year it was memory sticks at Staples). Then Friday afternoon I want to have a few people pver to play games (Taboo, Cranium, POP 5, Scattergories, Pictionary . . . ). Any takers?

Oh, Hadley, isn't that hilarious???? *shaking my head and just laughing at this mess!*

Ya'll have a wonderful time! :hippie: I'm off to my conference call and laundry myself.

*wave*

Brandie

Hadley, that sounds great!

We, the resident geeks of Florida, are hosting a "Rock Band" party the day after Thanksgiving. Lionel has informed me that I am on vocals, which should drive all of the small creatures out of the neighborhood......

Happy Thanksgiving!

My siblings are giving my parents a cruise to Alaska for their 50th this coming July. So, this July, on their 49th, we gave them a card with part of a Holland America flyer cut out in it - and we wrote " in honor of your 50th Anniv. next year, we will be sending you on an Alaskan cruise!" Even my Dad started to cry! You might try something like that, but gift wrap it the way Jason did for Erik.

Ooooo a rock band party sounds fun.

Maybe I didn't read all the details right, but if you're giving the cruise as a Christmas gift, you could give them an ornament of a cruise ship. We even purchased one on board the Magic that's the Magic made from blown glass. I wonder if you could find those online before Christmas?

Anyway--when they open the ornament, they'll probably be confused as to why you chose such a strange gift.

Or....if anyone is creative in the painting department at your house...this is what I did to tell DH I was pregnant years ago.

I went to one of those paint-your-own-pottery places & glazed a few plates. On just one (the plate I was serving DH's dinner), I put two tiny foot prints & the words "We're having a baby!". I served dinner on the plates I had made (I made a family set so DH didn't wonder why his plate was different than all of ours). I made sure DH's food was covering the picture & words, and as DH finished his dinner, he read to bottom of the plate. I still have a picture of the reaction on his face :goodvibes

Just a few ideas. Pretty involved, but I always like the gifts that make people go "huh?" before they figure out the surprise :)

Good luck with whatever you choose to do!
