Oh how I wish we could go on a cruise this year. DH and I seriously thought about taking a short cruise this year but with the down payment of next years cruise and paying for DD braces next week:scared: we thought we better stay close to home.
We are considering going to Gatlinburg this summer. I am having a real hard time getting enthused about this though. We have done Disney the last 4 years, plus the cruise. I feel at a loss not having a Disney trip in the works.

Thanks for letting me have my pity party.....

Everyone have a good weekend:goodvibes

Hello everyone,
I booked my cruise about 4 days ago for the Sept 27, 2008. I'm so excited!!!!! This cruise will consist of My husband, myself, my friend and my son(14 at time of sail). We did a cruise last year in May, and everyday when I think of it, it feel like it has been about two years. But now I have something to look forward to. Is there any kids threads, my son was in the lab last time, but will be in the teens club on this cruise. I'm just so excited everyone!!!!

Welcome aboard! My DS will also be 14 by cruise time!

Welcome MissAllen!
What kind of dog is that in your avatar? Beautiful!

There is a current post in the main DCL forum about how ready the ship will be for this particular sailing when coming out of dry dock: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1396290

Anyone have opinions on this? I'd be pretty disappointed if parts of the ship were closed off and repair work still being done!

I think I am going to trust "Doug's" travel agent on this one. I had heard about a few probs post dry dock on another thread with the Wonder, but some said everything was "sparkly" so I am just going to trust that.

So......

We are considering a 3-nighter this September as a little taster. Part of me says "but I could use that money for a huge spa blow-out on the 2008 cruise where I go in and ask for one of everything!" and the other part of me says "ooooh, another cruise, yes please!"

Dilemma.

But we have been soooooo good with all of our budgeting and financial planning (I am on a quest to get us out of debt) that most of me feels like we deserve a little treat. The interesting thig is that it would be very much a "budget cruise" - ie bringing our own alcohol, only doing the rainforest room at the spa, no excursions, no trips to the gift shop, etc.
And we are SO not used to that. :rolleyes1

There's that whistling smiley again.

Hope everyone is having a great week, we are that much closer to the cruise!

Hey I know how you feel. We live in San Diego & I was thinking of my husband and I taking a 3-4 nighter that leaves from our port, but I decided to wait it out for the "BEST" cruise.

BUT, we are going to go to Disneyland the end of Sept for our 1 year countdown to this cruise. I told my husband that we WILL be staying at the Disneyland Hotel for a few days & I want to do the character breakfast and all the stuff. I think it will be a nice way to countdown for this cruise.

I think so too :goodvibes

DH and I are SERIOUSLY considering this cruise and are hoping to book this Friday. He is absolutely thrilled about pyramids and I am happy about a double-dip. This would be the first cruise for both of us.

I'm hoping if we do book that someone might be interested in a meet for Tea at Palo. DH hates it but I love it so much!

I was considering the same thing. The kicker for me was that it was a Disney cruise and the kids would throw a fit.:headache: I kept telling myself that we could get 6 months no interest on our Disney Visa to pay it off. I so wanted to do it. Darn Kids!!!
OK just so everyone knows I love my kids and I was only joking...sorta:love:

We will definately be doing tea. In fact, we will be joined by a friend whose Husband ALSO can't stand it :rotfl: maybe the two of them can go off and do manly stuff while we act civilized?

Hi all! I was trying to look back and/or remember some of the suggestions for meets and activities. There are quite a few of us now, although we haven't heard from some of you for awhile - hope you are still lurking:surfweb:

Here are a few I can remember - does anyone want to add anything or make some suggestions - after all, we only have 17mo 4 wks:lmao:

1. wearin' of the lime green - hats, shirts, bracelets?
2. see the ruins at Costa Maya - bring school supplies to the local kids
(or candy and toothbrushes? )
3. Martini tasting in the promenade lounge - headed up by Erica :rotfl2:
4. tea at Palos???
5. something before the sail away?
6. coffee drinks at cove cafe???

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

We just got back from a 7 night Eastern a few weeks ago and the couple of meets we did were a lot of fun! On the first day before the drill, we all met up in the Promenade lounge for drinks and mingling. And then we arranged a "private" Palo brunch - there is a room with a table that seats 14 and we had two groups of Disers that went. The good part is, it didn't cost anything more than normal ($10 pp) AND you could still book a private Palo brunch for another day. I'll have to check and see when we can ask for it - I think it is like 2 or 3 months before the actual cruise date. One thing I wish we had done was planned more meets beforehand. Here's a pic of our Dismeet at Palo...

What happens at the martini tasting stays at the martini tasting. At least, until I get home and type up a trip report..... :rolleyes1

Hey, I think a little taster cruise in 6 months would be a great way to kick off the 12 month countdown to the 7-day. :woohoo:
