Ggggrrrr.........that was the tip I was going to give. :)

Ok, here's a couple more I've seen:

clothes pins w/hooks on the top (not sure where to find these though). here's what's been suggested about these:
I always pack clothespins that have a hook at the top. They take up very little packing space but are a great multi-purpose item. These are great to hang wet bathing suits in the shower area, and hang things on towel racks, in closets, and on the back of the door handles. We also use them to hang up/hold extra items like scarves, belts, hats, etc. in the closet. You can also use them to hang multiple items on one clothes hanger.

hangers:
bring your own hangers to supplement those found in the closet

dryer sheets:
pack 1 or 2 between layers of clothes so they will smell fresher when they are taken out of the suitcases. This can also help a bit w/keeping wrinkles away.

alarm clock:
bring your own - the cabins have a clock, but it doesn't have an alarm. we'll probably bring our sound machine/alarm clock for white noise.

We always use clothes pins too. They are perfect for everything. We use them to clip the curtains together at night for that pesky amount of light (usually hotel rooms) that shines through.

We have a mini hepa filter we pack for white noise and cleaner air also.

Funny story
I was at Michael's today buying stuff for our Pirate shirts, which are awesome, if I must say so myself:lmao: and a woman said to me
" are you making pirate shirts" I said yes for a Disney cruise, we got to talking she is donig the Western in November and the she asked me the best questione ever,
" Do you go on the DisBoards"

I was so excited, I havent meant any people who dis IRL, wooooohooooo
Hi Muffin07 if you decide to lurk

Clothes pins are great for keeping the curtains closed time to keep the morning sun out if light bothers you.

To help protect Magnets not only but you name and or room number on them but take them in at night. That seems to be when the disappear. I think it is the teen set that are helping them walk away, as one of them that I lost was up in the very top corner of the door. I could bearly reach it and I am 5'7".

Love all the tips. Lois

We are everywhere!!!!

I plan on printing my magnets on card stock and then having them laminated at Staples.......it is only 49 cents each. Then I have a roll of magnets to put on the back. I thought of putting labels on the back stating "Stolen from Room 7510 from crissichef" in case anyone gets any ideas.......I would put that on the back before they laminate them.........hopefully that will work out like I plan........we shall see!

I have been requesting free samples of laundry detergent to bring along so I don't have to buy it there. Put some dryer sheets in a baggie also......that doesn't take up much room. We found fans that ruin on batters or plug in at Target for $7.99.

Hey Erica - What is the brand of the air freshener that you were talking about that the hospitals use? I need some of that too!

I already have my wet ones packets, purell, and clorox wipes ready!

I finally won a dress on ebay:dance3: :dance3: . Only took 3 trys. Should I keep looking or be happy with the one O what is a girl to do???:surfweb:

Downy Wrinkle Free to get out the wrinkles.....really works.:thumbsup2

Tip: A possible alternative to your use of the clothespin is a binder clip....that might save some of you a trip and a purchase. :) I suppose it depends on how you'll use it, but in most cases, it should be a dependable alternative.

I'm glad to hear the Downy Wrinkle Spray works. I broke down and bought a travel sized bottle with the $1.00 coupon I had.

Maureen, congrats on the ebay win!

Funny story...she asked me the best questione ever,
" Do you go on the DisBoards"

I LOVE it! Great story!

...I have been requesting free samples of laundry detergent to bring along so I don't have to but it there....

:rotfl: I've been doing the same thing for the past 10 months or so!

Hey Crissi, you know that item I promised to put in the mail on Monday? Well....I just noticed it on my dining room chair! Oops! Sorry about that. I'll be able to get to the PO tomorrow evening. REALLY!

No problem.......thank you again!

Since I'm planning on taking a carry-on that is larger than I usually do, does anyone know just how large my purse can be?

If the kids take a carry-on can they still take their backpacks as a personal item?

Just trying to find a way to take everything.

I am bringing a carry on (standard size) and a fairly large sling back pack. I hope I can pull it off. I need all the space I can get. Not only for getting stuff there but I need extra space for all the stuff I buy to bring home. I guess I need disposible clothes.

OH NO!!! Did you say disposible clothes.....:scared1: I was the one who originally mentioned throwing away old panties daily and look where that took us. The last time we left the kids sand toys on CC, I tossed my pirate outfit and a pair of shoes. Maybe we go about this wrong.......take your old clothes, pitch them and buy new when we get home......

I don't have a tip because every time I think of one when I scroll to the next post . . . there it is!

The only thing I can think of is to bring an empty sports bottle to Castaway Cay. They have water towers in various locations and the water is cold and refreshing!

I was surprised by this, because I was expecting warm nasty water, but it was good!

The only other thing I can think of is a Tide Pen to get out unwanted spots. Na Na Na Na - Na Na Na Na - Hey Hey Hey - Good Bye!

This week's Question of the Week is not really about getting to know one another. It is someting we have nearly all thrown out there at some point, BUT now that we are getting to the point where we are all seriously thinking about packing let's get it all out there in the space of a few pages for easy reference:rotfl: What is your best packing tip?.

Okay here are my tips:

1) Make sure to leave space in your luggage to bring stuff home - you will get many "gifts" and the worst thing is to have to try to figure out how to get them home

2) Pick up a few of the travel size bottles of Tide that Target sells - they stay nice and tightly closed and will save you a lot of trouble when you want to throw a load in the wash. (by the way, best days to do this are excursion days or late nights) Also, stick a few dryer sheets in a plastic baggie. Also, once these are used - it will make extra room in your luggage ;)

3) Throw in some post it notes - great for leaving for other family members

4) Pick up some slipper socks - great for running around the room without being barefoot

I plan on printing my magnets on card stock and then having them laminated at Staples.......it is only 49 cents each. Then I have a roll of magnets to put on the back. Love this idea :thumbsup2

MY kids don't start school until September 3rd....How many more weeks is that?

Wow, that late? Do they get out early in the summer? When I was a kid we used to start in Sept, but now they start mid Aug. in California AND they get 3 weeks winter vacation. I never got that when I was in school. :sad2:

So far we are doing fine. All morning at work the boss was like "get your stuff done and get out of here!" and I thought I was pushing it by leaving at 1pm. It's almost 4 and we've had nothing but rain and mild wind! She slowed down quite a bit and is apparently still a county below us (according to the radar). I think we're going to escape this one. Just LOTS of rain for the next few days.

Glad you are okay Erica :)

Everybody has great tips on packing. The only tip I can think of is to make sure you call your credit card company and your bank to let them know the areas you will be. If not, sometimes they won't let you charge on the card. Also, call your cell phone company and see what the rates are for roaming. I think you are charged a lot for text messages too.

I have a question.. If we do decide to do WDW what one park should we visit? We have never been and I don't know if we will ever be able to come back. I am thinking we may do it for one day. Or should we do MNSSHP instead?

I would choose Magic Kingdom but I would guess you will get at least one vote for each of the parks. Each one has rides that I really enjoy. It is a tough choice, good luck and enjoy. Lois

Hope all in the path of Fay are safe.

Another item I found at Michael's arts and crafts was a create your own board book. It is a blank board book with 14 pages. You can create anything you want out of it, sturdy cardboard. I decided to purchase one $7.95. I am going to have the characters sign it and then post pictures inside.
this one doesnt have windows but I know I have seen

God love ya! Glancing through it, I was cracking up that some of our funny friends' tips are included! :rotfl:
I have to keep it comical! Dont want everyone being too serious while they pack! :rotfl2:

I believe most airlines state a carry on and a purse no real dimentions for the purse. I would figure as long as you can put it in the overhead and under your chair your good to go. As for the backpacks that might be pushing it, they may only allow 1 item for the kids. Might call your airlines and as a "hypothetical" questions LOL

I am not all that creative, can someone tell me what a board book is? Sounds really neat. Lois
I cant find one with cut outs to slide in pics but its like this (think of old Golden Books of kids story's like that a hard board book)

HAHA I see Arin is rubbing off on ya!
Ok speaking from only doing the parks when I was 7 and we only did the world... I would do the MK... or Epcot. Ya figure you could always do MK or Hollywood here in Cali. They are pretty much alike.. somewhat. But Epcot is well nothing like we have here.. YET at the same time the boys may be wanting to do the "real" disney park. (ya i know no help to you what so ever huh sorry! lol.
This may help you.. since your staying at pop we get the Extra Magic hours.. basically an hr before and an 3 hours after
heres the schedual of whats open when

Morning Hrs
MK- Oct 2,9,16,23,30
Epcot- Oct 7,14,21,28
Hollywood- Oct 4,11,18,28
Animal- Oct 6,13,20,27

Evening Hrs
MK- Oct 6,12,20,27
Epcot- Oct 3,10,17,24,31
Hollywood- Oct 5,13,19,26
Animal- Oct 1,8,15,22,29

NOW MY TIP
*If you have one.. or find it may come in good use buy a Camelbak
its basically a backpack that holds liquid. You can find them in many sizes from 1qt 3-5qts maybe more? Usually Military surplus stores have them the simple/ small qty models run from $15 up.
A Visual...
Great to fill up with water for when you are in port.
classic_camelbak.jpg

also great to conseal... other liquids:rolleyes1
IMG_1645.jpg

* when packing shoes use the insides.. put jewlery in them then stuff them with socks.

*If you are packing for multiple members of your family. Put a lil bit of everyones clothing in each suitcase. THIS way if god forbid the airlines looses a bag, someone will have a few things to wear until the bag is found or untill you buy more clothes. (If your flying solo, your SOL lol.. no just pack a change of clothes in your carry on JUST IN CASE!)

* also if you plan on doing the parks... a great idea is to find tatoo paper to print on then make the kids tattoos that state if lost call here.. with your cell #. Great for lil kids but also bigger kids that may panic and forget the #. (Im planning on sticking one on E cuz he always forgets our # :rotfl2: )
Found this off the DIS board
If Lost Tattoe's

Is your DH colorblind like mine? If I don't set out clothes for him in the morning, he inevitably comes out in green shorts and an orange shirt. Or a black shirt and blue shorts. And then he gets all irritated when I tell him it doesn't match :lmao:

Of course, some men don't have that excuse.....and they STILL dress like that! :confused3

Yeah, my husband is the second kind..............:rolleyes1

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Just came home and found the best package!!!! I got my FE in the mail today!!!!

TIFFANY YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!! :worship:

There's no way I could have put together something like my FE. I can't stop looking at it!!!

You know you can't just tease us like that!;)
