Did anybody book the Two-Day Castaway Cay Getaway Package at Castaway Cay? Just wondering how much it ended up costing. It looks like it's cheaper then what they list. Is that right?

I did but did not even look to see what the final price was. Can't help you there. Hopefully someone is more attentive to details then I was.

Hadley, I would be in a state of panic. Are they anywhere where you can contact the local authorities to stop by and check? When I was in my early twenties my parents had been trying to call. I did not have voice mail and after not catching me home for a week he sent the base police over to check on me. Lo and behold I was home when they (Police) stopped by.

Being that they are on the water maybe the Coast Guard could help. More than being sick with worry I would be very very angry that I was told they would check in daily and that there had been no call. Just like everyone has said I am sure that everyone is most likely fine and there are 101 reasons why they have not checked in. I would guess that they are having TOO much fun to think about any one else. I can tell you that someone would get a piece of my mind when they return. How much longer before the kids are to arrive home?

Hi everyone and thanks for all your kinds words Of course, I didn't manage to sleep much last night You are all correct and the runabout boat probably isn't working--at least that is what I have been telling myself for two days--but I still worry (my cousin says "we come from a long line of alarmists" which is true ). I don't think it is a charger issue. I know there is power on the boat and 3 seperate adult couples would all have to have forgotten their chargers for there to be no functioning cell phones.
Lois--I really don't think I can call the coast gaurd, etc. but thanks for thinking of it. Lake Powell is HUGE and I don't know what part of the lake they were planning on being in nor even the name of the friend's boat (yes I am kicking myself for not insisting on getting all that info. before she left). Somehow calling the coast gaurd and asking them to look for a houseboat of unknown description that could be anywhere on the lake and is not even late getting back yet sounds like I would be lauged at and shooed away).
As to when they will be back. What I was told was July 5 (tomorrow). I am HOPING that date was when they will be back in Colorado, in which case they will be off the boat today, but it is probably their off the boat day. Saturday to Saturday just like DCL I will have Marika back in my own arms again on the 9th (very early on the 9th her flight arrives in Boston at 5:30 a.m.).
Okay--I am off now to clean the basement and try to think of things other than what could go wrong on a houseboat!

Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you too. I *hate* being in those situations where I feel like I can't do anything and I'm waiting to hear - and worrying. I feel somewhat better if I can come up with a definite "plan" - like:
"By 3pm I expect to have heard from the houseboat. If I haven't heard by then I will do these things: 1) Call xxxx 2) Call xxxx" etc. " At least I feel like I've established my reasonable limit and after that I can start investigating.

I agree with others though that probably they are out having fun and some other issue is affecting the phone call. Likely they don't realize how worried you'd be!

I live in the DC suburbs so the 4th of July is always a big deal around here! Happy 4th to all! It is supposed to be rainy as the day goes on - hope they are able to do fireworks for all those touristas on the Mall! We won't be going down this year.

So, my twin sister is on a cruise as we speak. It's a Royal Carribean cruise, but I still am a tad bit jealous. Good thing is I'm spending the night with my DBF so I feel better!

My coworker is on the Carnival Sensation right now. Actually, she is probably walking around Nassau right now. Oddly enough, I was not jealous
I'm sure she'll have fun though. Just not my cup of tea.

We are doing the getaway package that includes snorkelling gear, but not the one where you snorkel with the stingrays. Hope that helps.

Hadley, you are right, if you do not know the name of the boat or a location they would most likely tell you to go home and call when she misses her flight. However, I think I would still be calling and at least asking if anything on the lake has gone wrong. Just imagiene their surprise if the Coast Guard did find them and boarded the boat to check on the safety of the passagers. That would be a story they would tell for a long time to come.

Please let us know as soon as she is home safe. We will be keeping positive thoughts until you know all is well. Try to enjoy the Holiday. Lois

Thinking of your family & please let us know when everyone is accounted for & safe. I'm sure, as others have said, that they're having too much fun to think about calling. But, I too, would give a nice piece of my mind to those in charge upon her return! That's not right to make a Momma worry like that...

Its raining here in Ohio and we had 2 parties to go to but we have decide to skip the pool one since its 70 and raining not exactly prime pool time

DH is watching the beach patrol marathon. All the bad stuff that can happon on the beach in one day, Hey its better than Cruise ship nightmares. But it makes me want to stay in the pool

I forgot all about the two day CC rental deal. Our kids just want floats, so maybe I'll look into it. We didn't do that on our last double dip, just rented by the day which turned out to be more expensive.

Has anyone's teen ever done the wild side excursion on CC? I'm thinking of making dd do it. She's very introverted (like her father), and is already telling me she doesn't think she wants to go to the Stack (doesn't like dancing, doesn't like popular music- not from anytime after 1986 anyway ).

Well dh is on the phone. He's the duty driver this weekend, means he gets to drive everyone around to parties, bars, etc.

I just priced our cruise at the same category on the DCL website and it is like $4667!!! That is about $2000 more than we paid. That is amazing the price is so much higher.

There are a lot of categories available - maybe that bodes well for those with GTY staterooms to get an upgrade. We were GTY 12 on our last cruise and ended up with a Cat 8!

I thought these lists might help some of you not reinvent the wheel! We used these lists last year when we cruised and there wasn't one thing I felt like I didn't have that I needed/wanted!

There have been various discussions over on the main board about upgrades. The concensus seems to be that there is not rhyme or reason to the upgrades & who gets them. They have been given both to those w/gty rooms & those w/assigned rooms - neither seems more likely to get upgraded than the other. An upgrade would be great, but we'll be happy w/the category we have now regardless.

I'm not sure about notification for an upgrade. I know folks have been surprised by checking their reservation & the room # has been changed (upgraded).

Hadley and Brandie, I join you with "Kiss the Girl". I had this as my ringtone on my cell phone until I bought a new one in April. The only version they had was HORRIBLE. I was SO bummed I couldn't transfer the file. So now I have the "Sex in the City" theme.

One word. Phonezoo dot com. Okay, that's three.

So what else are people doing? in Coz.

We (I think) *finally* decided on our Cozumel plans. Since we are on a bit of a budget this cruise, and since we have three days of beach like activities planned for CC and GC, I wanted to do something "different" in Coz. Soooo, we plan on renting a jeep or convertible vehicle and taking ourselves on a tour of the island. We'll hit a bunch of the usual tourist attractions, Punta Sur, Coconuts, etc. and hopefully find a nice relatively deserted beach on the East side for some scenery...and pop back over to the west side and find a place to snorkel (read of a lot of "holes" near the pier)...hit Margaritaville, of course. This way we can all do our thing, include the baby and keep it cheap. A little on the adventurous side maybe, considering we've never been there before. Hopefully we aren't making a mistake! Now I have to brush up on my Spanish, as I have a feeling "Hola....Senor.....Help-o por favor" in't gonna cut it!

Actually I think it does NOT bode as well for the GTY's. It means there *is* availablity in the categories they are booked, so no need to upgrade anyone to make room in the particular categories. And the prices....wow. From reading this and from reading what that dude paid in Epp's famous thread, I'm thinking we overpaid? I mean I know we didn't but it seems like some folks got a good deal out there!

Its not happened to us YET ) ) but from what I've read, in most cases...yes you will just see a change on your reservation or when checking in at the port. In some cases they will notify you, I am told. I know in our case since we have adjoining rooms, they would ask us if we were going to get one, whether we would want one or not, as it may cause the rooms to get separated. OR they could upgrade both rooms. (Can't imagine *that* would happen).

We're off to the fireworks. Ron like to say "If Disney can do it right every single night, why can't these guys do it once a year?" Oh, we are spoiled, eh?
