"Double Dip Delight" 09.27.2008 - Take 3!

I'm still at work. DH and I just decided to close the store early, we're supposed to be open until 9pm - I just don't feel like staying at work when everyone else is having fun. We were invited to a bbq - but, I feel like sushi and then want to be home alone. We still have a long weekend to work through...

Anyway - I burn my own CDs for my store (the background music) and the original When you Wish Upon a Star just played and made me wish I was on the Magic right now!!

Quick question about the magnets everyone makes - do you print it out on an adhesive and then stick them on magnets? Where does one get all this stuff (I am soooo not crafty)?

Thanks!!

I just finished some of our magnets today! We purchased a pack of magnetic paper that goes through a printer. It's a thinner magnet so the paper goes through the ink jet printer easily. Then you can just cut out your shapes/magnets with scissors and you're good to go. If you Google "Avery ink jet magnet sheets" you should find what you're looking for!

So what happened at the famous Epp's thread? I don't know where it is or how to find it, and I just can't sit on the fact that something happened and I don't know the story!!! I'm nosy like that I guess :confused3

For those of us who still don't know...whaaaat happened? And how much did that guy pay? :surfweb:

I'm too nosy....:hippie:

It's the thead (still on page one of the main cruise board) entitled "Poor Customer Service Thru Disney Cruise Lines" In a nutshell, someone on board our sailing (but apparently not otherwise a DISer it was his one and only post) feels our cruised was priced $400 more than a standard itenerary for his cabin and DCL should refund him that amount as we are no longer going to Costa Maya. It is all very odd. . .

Still no word on Marika watch 2008popcorn:: I'm logically positive she is fine, but emotionally not so much. But I am keeping very busy in the meantime to occupy my mind. I am so proud of Rio's new and improved Pirate room I just may have to post a photo later:rotfl2:

If a person were to get an upgrade, how would they know?

I would check the DCL website starting about 2-3 weeks before the cruise. Then check again as close to your cruise date as you can. We were given a Cat 9 about 20 days before sailing then we were upgraded again to a Cat 8 just about 5 days before the sail date. I would have put the wrong room # tags on our luggage had our TA not called. You can check yourself on the DCL website - it will show there too.

I think those with GTY staterooms are in good shape for upgrades at least - perhaps at the last minute if those rooms don't sell.

Actually, the specific post from Epp was deleted. I never got to see it but I know Epp apologized later in the thread. Seems to me the OP just wanted to stir up some trouble.

The strange thing for me is that I opted for this cruise because it was a 7-day and a DD. I don't really care where else we are going.

And I know that my price (Cat 11) was actually reasonable. I checked the other day and the same category is $700 more than when I booked (back in MAY07). The $700 includes the additional fuel charge.

I'm just happy to be cruising on the Magic (I've only been on the Wonder before).:yay:

Thank you all for indulging me & filling me in on the details about the trouble-causing post :lmao: Sorry, Epp :)

I felt like we got a great deal on this cruise. We booked while on board last October & this cruise (for the same exact category/cabin #) was about $1,000 cheaper than the one we were on. Interesting...the double stop at CC was exactly why we chose this cruise!

I think we're slightly odd because we don't care for getting off the boat for excursions. So, really, wherever we go is beautiful and other than CC, we tend to stay on the empty boat & enjoy it :lovestruc

/
Ordinarily, I don't care about the excursions but I decided that I might not get another chance to do a dolphin encounter (especially with my 76 year old Mom - who's never done something like this) and I thought I should at least see some of GC since we'll be there - so we will be doing small excursions this time. But mostly, I just want to be on the ship and relax at CC!!!!

I need some help from you experienced flyers.

If I book us flights on Expedia, Cheap Tickets, Orbitz, etc. and our flight gets cancelled or the time changes unfavorably for us, who do I contact and would I be able to get a refund?

As you can see, I'm still up in the air with our flights! Right now my options are :

taking the chance USAir will not discontinue service from our small local airport (30 min. from home) and fly for $366 RT @ person

OR

take the option offered from Delta - leaving from an airport 3 hrs. away. This option means driving to the airport the night before we fly, hotel close to the airport $160 for the 6 of us, more gas $, parking fees and catching a 6:00 am flight the next morning. We also have a very late flight home not getting in until 10:30 pm the day off the ship and then driving home another 3hrs. Delta did say they would give us a refund. The least they could do for cancelling our service.

Probably a no brainer for you all and it should be for me also, but for some reason I can't decide what to do. Probably because I have travel anxiety everytime I leave home.

That is a toughie:eek: If it were me I would book the USAIR and hope. However, when figuring costs remember (I THINK) that USAir is one of the lines now charging for every checked bag. Expedia has an 800 number you can call if there are issues which is I suppose what you would do if your flights were cancelled again. Obviously, book on a credit card so if something is cancelled you can dispute the charge. Does Southwest fly out of where you live? They are more stable these days than most airlines and may have decent rates still. They do not work with Expedia/Orbitz, etc. You would have to go directly to their website.

Hi,
My DH and DS are wondering if there are any fellow NC cruisers on this cruise? We are from Hendersonville, NC near Asheville. Can't wait to go. This is our first Disney cruise but not our first cruise. Have a happy and safe 4th.

Welcome to the DIS and to our Cruise meet thread. I am from the midwest but have lived on the east coast in the past. Check out Post #1 on this thread for the details of our plans. Welcome again. Lois

Thanks for the advice. Southwest flys out of Pittsburgh or Philadelphia which is a further drive for us. We flew out of Pittsburgh in 2006, but had to rent a minivan one way to Pitts. and return because Jeninpa's van was on the blink. It was very expensive to do that and it took us 6 hrs. to drive home because of road construction. We live in the middle of nowhere, nice town and low crime, but hard to get out of.

I am trying to talk Jeninpa into not going to MNSSHP then we could fly later and not need a hotel the night before. No success so far. (Are you lurking Jen??????)

I guess I just WANT IT ALL!

Welcome 2Goofy:wizard:

Kimberly, our roll call keeper, is out of town at the moment but when she gets back she can certainly tell you if we have any NC cruisers.

Thanks Heather!! I never knew such a thing existed. OMG I'm going to go magnet crazy!!! LOL.

I couldn't remember if I posted this yet....

I keep reading and hearing about flying issues do I finally logged onto Delta to see if I had any flight changes. I did:

6:55 leave AZ arrive in Atlanta at 1:40
Leave Atlanta at 1:30 arrive at MCO later (I forgot the time)

Called Delta - it took them 25 minutes to understand the issue  (this is in addition to the hold time...)

So it is fixed now but can you believe they did not catch that overlap in time? I mean the disney websight will not let you double book, you would think an airline would have something in place.

Oh you are going to love it!!! Our first two cruises were on the Wonder and then we started doing the Magic - I know its still Disney but its just different ;) I think the cast members know that they are going to have you for a longer time so they seem to make a bit more effort to get to know you. Also, I like the shows better - there is more variety - although sometimes the comedians can be interesting! I don't remember if they do this on the Wonder but the comedians also do an adult show after 10 in one of the lounges popcorn::

Ugh I just don't know how I am going to make it until September :sad2:

:welcome:
Glad to have you onboard our cruise post 2goofy2luv. I don't live in NC but travel there quite a bit for work - love it there!
