I want to see a picture of yours now! :rotfl: I need some ideas for spreadsheets. I do need to start my packing list this week, maybe that will kick my excel planning mind in to gear? :thumbsup2

I'm afraid you asked for it....

(I had to straighten it a bit just to get everything in the pic.....;) )

And look there's the infamous "spreadsheet" up top. I only call it that cause it sounds better. As you can see it's more like a hand-drawn chart. (And there's more where that came from on the backside!!!!:rolleyes1 )

Wait... is the spreadsheet a list of dinning rotations.. oh you have to share that one... and the thought process behind it.. Cuz im still working on that but I dont get the whole jist being never have been on a Dis Cruise before.

WOW:woohoo: :yay: Page 11 of our third thread. Are we good or what:cool1:
I can't believe we set sail in 2 mo. and 3 weeks.

I know this is a stupid question, but where did you get that portfolio. I have an old passporters guide, but I like that case it's in.

Ok...of course I will share. Its more than just the rotations, it has all the shows and events formal nights, etc. on it. I will either post a pic of it as is or maybe try to type it into an excel doc later, so it is legible. Sorry...right now we're headed out to the pool!:thumbsup2

This is the Passporter "Deluxe version". It has the leather binder with lots of funtional pockets and such, plus since the inside (the actual Passporter part) is loose leaf, you can add and remove pages and pockets at will. It makes it very useful to actually bring on your cruise and keep yourself organized by day....see Erica for organization, not me!:rotfl2:

What I did is check the passporter site or amazon for deals...you can get an older version for much cheaper (that's what I did) and then all you have to do is buy the refill inserts as they are updated. :rolleyes1

Oh and we called DCL to request our desired roatation and they confirmed that they already have our family on our own 6 top at dinner (as we requested). We have always had great success for our dining "requests"...I highly advise giving it a shot if you want to request a table by yourself or a certain rotation!

where are they listed on hotwire.? Cocoa Beach? Also # of nights you put in for also makes a difference. I used better bidding dot com and it helped me figure out that I was getting Country Inn and Suiets (which is where I wanted)

ok just by looking at better bidding.. and guessing this is for Cocoa Beach.
your 2.5* is Days Inn. Not sure for your 3*

Heres a listing might help others too!

Cocoa Beach (Cocoa Beach - Cape Canaveral)
3* Country Inn and Suites
Amenities: Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry

3* Hilton (amenities not confirmed, but believed accurate)
Amenities: Beachfront, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Laundry

3* Holiday Inn Oceanfront (previously 2.5*)
Amenities: Beachfront, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Tennis, Laundry

2.5* Best Western Oceanfront (previously 3*)
Amenities: Oceanfront, Restaurant, Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry

2.5* Days Inn
Amenities: Near Beach, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet

Thanks much, Drea. Yes, the listings are for Cocoa Beach - Cape Canaveral. I shouldn't have put off booking when we were looking earlier & now it looks like neither Radisson nor Country Inn are available at the moment. <sigh>

I've posted a query over at the site you mentioned to help ID the 3*. We'll see if anyone comes up with anything.

That would be great! I don't have the info on which shows which night & would love to know.

Hadley-
Glad to hear Marika is safe.

We haven't done camp yet. Oldest dd wants to go to camp to learn to write (we don't say paint, we say write- learned that the hard way) Orthodox icons. Maybe next year, because I don't want to drive across the state.

It started to rain...so I'm working on it now!

Crazy FL summer weather!;)

Ive learned Country Inn you have to do 2 nights stay on hotwire for it to come up.

Hope that helps!

So here is an out of nowhere question for those of you who have cruised DCL before:
Sometimes you get the DCL collectible coins for doing different activites. We always just sorta stuck them wherever adn didn't do anything with them. Yesterday it occurred to me that they woudl be cute moutned in a frme and hung on RIo's wall (it would be his pirate loot). So, I know we have had some frmo otehr activites, but all I can scare up at the moment are coins from Mickey Mania, Castaway Cy treasure Hunt, Oceaneer's Lab and Walk the Plank. My question is, what other activities do people have coins from????? I want to know how much blank space to leave (so I will know what size frame to purchase) and also to know what activites to try to be sure we do;)
Thanks!

Thanks Heather. I realized I didn't answer one of your composter questions (I think it was you asking anyway). I COULD PM the answer, but someone else might be interesetd, and if not then everyone just skip right over the post. Kay?
As to if the kids could build the compost bin in Family Fun. Most of the "building" work is in drilling holes in a rubbermaid tote. I am thinking you probably do not want to hand all the kids power tools . . . BUT they could contribute quite a bit by tearing the newspaper into thin strips, soaking and tehn squeezing out the newspaper (I would have an adult do a final squeeze or two as I am told overly wet paper is not good), then fluffing up the paper into the bin and mixing and fluffing in a couple of handfulls of potting soil.

Thanks for getting back to that question~ We will definitely be building a worm bin together. Sounded like a really neat project!!

I have no idea, Hadley......the only one we have is from the CC treasure hunt. But I wanted to say I'm glad Marika is safe and sound!

OK....I spent this ugly afternoon fixing this bad boy up:

It has listed the following: days, dates, ports & times, shows & times, dress & menus, dinner rotations & times, the drink of the day, and a notes section.

I have uploaded it to 4 shared for any of you who want to snag it and personalize it up for yourselves: click here

This should be included in Post #6 or #1 or whatever the heck post it is now! This is AWESOME!! Thank you!

I'm still at work - we're taking all our employees out to dinner tonight - we're celebrating two graduations (one high school, one college). We're all so excited (we have the best people working for us). We can't close up fast enough!! Never mind, I'm starving - cause I skipped lunch in anticipation of stuffing my face for dinner (dumb move - now I'm just famished).

We're even taking them all to WDW in January - we are pumped!! We close up after the holidays and we always go to WDW for the first week & then someplace really warm (looking at Antigua this year) for the second week. This year, we decided to book some extra rooms and ask everyone along - so, between planning the cruise and planning the January trip - I am on cloud 999999999 :cloud9: !!

Anyway - your spreadsheet rocks! I need to do that for our other trip. So many people to coordinate and meals, and we want to do a special event too.

Do any of you find the planning to be just as fantastic as the actual trip?! I almost feel a letdown when the planning is done. It's like I always need to have a trip planned so I have something to map out...I'm sure you all feel like that!

:goodvibes Thanks Dianna. So what did you end up deciding with your airfare?

For now I ended going with Delta rebooking us on a flight 3 hours from home at 6:05 am. While looking for other flights, I kept an eye on the seats on the first leg of the trip and on the last leg home. Each time I checked, there were less and less seats, so I decided I better book since there are 6 of us.

I watched a special on travel Friday night that said flights are cheaper to book on Mon/Tues. so I am going to see tonight at 12:01am. Everyone wants to fly now on Thursday night and have a whole day in FL. Bryce (DGS) is even okay with missing a football game that evening and on 10/2. You can see his dedication is to cruising not playing football.....

I feel like an underpaid travel agent right now. I have dial-up service and it seems slower by the day.

Thanks for asking. I found cheaper mini van rental rates today for us, so maybe luck is coming my way.:worship: Please luck ...... please :worship:
