Hi,
I got your message but am not able to send a reply because I do not have ten posts yet. If you will send me a PM with your email I will send you the info you requested.
Thanks a bunch

Hi,
Nice to online meet you.
My DS is 4 however, he is not actually too darling at the moment LOL. We should meet up because I bet he will be in the camp with your daughter. I do love the mountains, but really wish I had a nearby beach. Guess we can't have it all can we? Have a great weekend.

Hi,
Does anyone have any ideas of non Disney excursions to do in Grand Cayman? The 7 mile beach break looked kind of expensive to me. Would it be cheaper to get a taxi from the terminal and go there by yourself? Anyone interested in sharing a taxi or have other ideas?

The taxis charges per person, so sharing will not save any money but the company will be nice. Some folks say that grabing a cab and going to the beach can save a few dollars. Be ready they will charge for chairs and anything else they can. We however are going to Stingray city.

Only 6 more post till you can PM. Just post some fluff so you can get your numbers up there. Lois

I was hoping to do the Dolphine encounter in Cozemel but it looks booked. I am just glad we didn't tell the kids. It was going to be HUGE surprise.

So what else are people doing? in Coz.

We would LOVE to do the dolphin encounter but my son is only 4 so we can't. Hope you get it. I think in Cozumel that we are going to try for the ATV excursion/beach break.

That is true about sharing a cab. No cost saving. I didn't think of that. However, you are right about the company. Can you tell me more about Stingray City? Is that part of the disney excursion or something separate? I think my son is not old enough. He is 4 and it seems everything starts at 5 for the "fun" stuff.

Thanks for the advice on getting the posts up there. If my DS would leave me alone I could get to ten.

hi,
has anyone bought the Disney Passporter from Dave and Jennifer Marx? It is really great. I got it for my husband for his birthday and he has just devoured it from cover to cover. It is really great info.:thumbsup2

Welcome 2Goofy:wizard:

Kimberly, our roll call keeper, is out of town at the moment but when she gets back she can certainly tell you if we have any NC cruisers.

Thanks for the welcome. Have you heard any info on Marika yet? I would also be worried sick. I only have a 4 year old but know my day is coming when I will wonder where he is and if he is okay. He has gone away with the in-laws in their RV before and they think I am crazy if I check on him so I just wait until I hear from them. However, your situation is different. I will pray for you and please let us know when you hear.

Hi,
Does anyone have a 4 year or around that age that would like to hang out as a family at Castaway Cay? I have never been and don't much about where you go, etc. but we could find a way to meet and then let the kids play at the beach while we have some adult interaction.

Anybody have any behavior ideas for the "Mickey boat" My son drives me nuts sometimes and I thought if I had any ideas to keep him better behaved would be wonderful.

I am making him do chores daily and he gets a nickel for each chore and then we promised to match him at the time of sailing so he can spend his own money on the "mickey boat"

I will need to look for some info on the Stingray City. WE booked independently.

You can write a behavioral contact for your son. We have one for our nieces. We have some small colored disks to give them for good behavior. Then attach a value to each disk and what he might be able to puchase with the reward. You can have some behavior that will cost him disk as well such as climbing on the railings. I would reward him daily so that he connect the reward with the behavior. Base the expectation on the behavior that causes you the most distress. Keep it simple and be consistent and he should do well. You might want to go over the expecation daily as well. Is this as clear as mud? Lois

Welcome 2goofy2luv! :flower3:
Good ideas, Grandma4ever. Poker chips work well as daily rewards. Leave some wiggle room because kids are going to think of ways to annoy/scare/entertain you that aren't covered by rules. We had something like this for the kids as they grew up. We also had different types of chore charts (I tried to change the charts occassionally to keep interest up).

And 2goofy - just keep chatting on this board. There are a LOT of friendly people. My granddaughter will be 3+ on this trip. It's my first Disney cruise and her 3rd or 4th. I'm sure at some time we should get together because the kids will be in Oceaneers Club together. Check out Post #1 on this thread for links to the kids club on Fizzgig's DoubleDip website. (Sorry B - I don't remember the URL)
Ok - I'm going back to lurking now :rotfl2:

I am leaving on Tuesday the 8th and will be at our Florida home in Winter Garden until August 19th.. I have some things to do at the house that we have been putting off.. I need to make an appointment with a Window Treatment specialist, Find an odd size area rug for the dining room, Pick out a chair for my desk, Hang pictures on the Wall, Get some Disney Art Work framed and a bunch of other odds and ends..

Of course I will still find some time to visit Disney :thumbsup2

Anyone going to be in Disney in July or August?

DBK1029 and I will be there with my family from July 27-August 4! Three weeks until we leave (we're driving) and I can't wait for my vacation from work!!!!

We're always here :goodvibes
We work during the week and occasionally on the weekends (in fact....I know I am scheduled the last weekend in July, but only for 1/2 days) buuuuuut, if you guys want to do a pre-trip meet we are always up for a little Disney trip! We're better in the evenings, because even us natives wilt in the summer sun. Of course, the alcoholic slushies at Epcot help......;)

Welcome to the boat, and congrats on your 10 posts! Yes, I LOVE the passporter. In fact, this is what I did to mine:

Erica-
That's hillarious! You really, really USE your book huh? I bought the basic book & highlighted the good parts. The Passporter crew really knows how to write a complete guide!

We go to Disney World about 6 times/year, but I'm thinking it might be worth reading the Passporter Disney guide to see if we miss anything or if there's any tips I don't know!

Nice ideas on encouraging good behavior. Its a challenge. About the time you let your guard down thinking they are doing great, the bad behavior 'ghost' rears its ugly head. :)

With DD, we have a certain # of warnings & then there are consequences. Some bad behaviors (especially those that endanger her safety) have immediate consequences. The consequences though aren't tied necessarily to our cruise. At 5, that's too far away for her to really connect it. She is building up savings through her allowance though. She has certain chores to complete each day & then gets a weekly allowance. There's only been one week (thus far) where she's lost her allowance due to behavior issues.

Good luck w/using the cruise to influence good behavior. As things get closer, we'll probably start using the upcoming trip to help influence the choices she makes. Its kinda like when it gets close to Santa's trip to town. (Love it when its that time of the year - much easier to use Santa for leverage!)

On GC, we've booked an excursion independently through Nativeway Water Sports - the "Stingray Sandbar, Coral Gardens, and Star Fish Snorkel" excursion. For what they are offering, I think their prices are very reasonable. Let me know if you need their web address.

We're also doing an independent excursion on Cozumel. One of the dolphin encounters through Dolphin Discovery. Since DD is 5, she's free. Gotta love that. Even w/o her being free, their prices were much less than what offered direct through DCL. I may be wrong, but I don't think Dolphin Discovery has a minimum age for at least one of their programs. They do have a height requirement for swimming w/the dolphins though.

Is there anyone else out there getting really tired of Kyle Busch winning races? Just watched the finish of the Coke Zero race at Daytona - Kyle won. :sad2: That makes 6 this season. This is getting really old for a certified non-Kyle fan (actually an 'anyone but Kyle' Nascar fan).

Apologies to any Kyle fans out there........(as a JJ fan  , I was lovin' last season - not so much this season though. I'm sure non-JJ fans were getting tired of him winning so many last year, too.)

Thanks for indulging me in a bit of venting. Stepping off the venting box now.

We would LOVE to do the dolphin encounter but my son is only 4 so we can't. Hope you get it. I think in Cozumel that we are going to try for the ATV excursion/beach break.

Hi 2goofy2luv ~ Jeninpa's son is 4 and they are doing the Dolphin Encounter in Cozumel. If you go to the Dolphin Discovery web site, it states they do not have an age limit to do this. Several people in our group are doing the Encounter at 1 pm.

Hi Everybody. I am just now home--having left the house at 8:30 this morning--so this is the soonest I could post. I got through to MiL at about noon today and everyone (read MARIKA) is just fine. The runabout boat was working great--the adults just decided not to go make calls after all. MiL (curently missing the D;) ) seems to think it is odd that we and my DBiL were worried:confused3 I am concentrating my energy on being relieved that my darling girl is safe and will be back in my arms in only a few days--rather than being angry (though at some point there will have to be a serious discussion about following through on promised well being calls if in-laws are ever to take one or both kids again!).

We picked Rio up from camp today and he had a great week. He chattered all afternoon about all of the fun things he did (and yes he freely admits he only wore 2 shirts, 2 pairs of shorts and one pair of socks all week:scared: ). His counselor said Rio is "the politest kid I have ever met--and so nice to everybody to boot" Yeah, I'm lovin' the counselor:cheer2: (even if his grammar leaves a bit to be desired:laughing: ) Cute story: Rio actually did wear a clean (third) shirt and shorts for the dance they had with their sister camp (he does believe in dressing for the ocassion). So as Rio explains it they played mostly rock music (which he loves) but they also played a couple of "ballroom songs" and some swing. So he "got a girl and taught her how to dance it" He says everyone kept giving him thumbs up and taking pictures and he doesn't get what the big deal was:rotfl2: Upon questioning he does admit none of the other boys seemed to know how to dance to that music.

And to top off such a lovely day---who remembers when I won the Melissa Etheridge concert tickets????? Well, the concert was tonight:banana: WOW. What a great show! I really do love her music--she sings with such intense passion nad I also totally respect (and pretty much agree with) so many of her persoanl and political views so it is just an absolute great thing to be able to be there and see/hear her live. I have wanted to see her in concert for years and years (more so than any other performer). It was also the first concert I have been to in New Hampshire. Funny how up here--even at a major concert with people from all over the state plus a lot from Vermont and Mass. we still run into people we know (New Hampshire is soooo small town). We saw the nurse from our Doctor's office, and Marika's former karate teacher and her wife, and the man who played Captain Hook in our recent production of Peter Pan was the announcer for the show (boy I want HIS job!).

Okay, I really must get to bed. It has been a long and emotional day. Thanks you all for helping to keep me sane when I was worrying myself sick about Marika (it really did help to see you all posting logical things AND letting me know it was noraml to worry).

So glad to hear Marika is safe & sound (& will be back w/you soon). Uuuummm, MiL might want to remember there was an agreement to check in every so often. Anyway, its good that everything turned out well. Glad also, Rio had a good time at camp. Had to laugh at lack of clothes changing - DH resembles that at times.

ME is a very talented singer (even though I don't agree w/her views); glad you had a good time at the concert. Isn't it just a blast when you get to see someone you really really admire actually perform live? DH, DD & I are always excited to see Stephen Curtis Chapman perform live. He's a contemporary Christian artist who has done such great work on behalf of adoption. In addition, he's a fantastic performer. We've been blessed to see him in concert several times - a Christmas concert (absolutely one of the best I've seen), a large outdoor concert venue, a smaller indoor concert venue.
