Wow what a beautiful view!! That brought sunshine to my world! Thanks for the great news!!!

....I just wanted to share what has been going on around here in Ohio Be thankful for the little things

No kidding! We still have gas stations, restaurants, and retail/grocery stores closed. Trees and large tree limbs are still down everywhere you look. I noticed a drive-thru chinese place had a sign on their window saying they were selling ice that was being produced from their ice machine.

I think the most poignant comments I've heard have been around kids. Many have stated that they didn't know there were so many kids in their neighborhood. They're all outside playing, running, and laughing. Hmmmmm....Imagine THAT?! Another has been the good 'ole board games have come out of the closet. One collegue of mine mentioned that his teenage boy had asked him to play Monopoly with him. "Bring it on!" he responded. Then before you knew it, two of his other children were begging to play with them. Finally, I heard this story on the radio. The DJ's wife had gone outside to find their 8 yr old son. She looked around the back yard....nothing. Went to the front yard....not a sign. She turned around to go back inside, and there he was, sitting in the van! That smart little cookie figured out how to plug his Nintendo up in the van. He was sitting there with a buddy just going at it. She popped her head in and told them "Na Ah! Turn that off, and get outside."

I know some of you already do this, but a technology time-out really is a good thing! So yes. Be thankful for the little things and the bigger things like childhood and quality family time!

I just checked in with my neighbor. Nadda. We're still in the dark.
:sad2: Hey....nonetheless, only 4 more "official" sleeps and "3" reality sleeps left!

That sounds like John, but of course something is missing from his bag, whose fault is it??? Mine of course.

Oh, my DH will also try and do that.. My response... Was it on the list? He says umm.. no??.. :confused3 but.. and I say No buts.. Not on the List Not in the Bag.. too Bad soo Sad

AMEN!!!

Thats the signs you read as you drive around here. We just got power back after 2 days without. Never would I have thought that hurrican Ike could have such a effect on Ohio. Even some grocery stores are still without power. Most places don't have internet or cable.

Many of my friends still have no power and the phones work sometimes same with the cell phones. It is totally strange not to have electricity for so long.

But the main thing I can say I learned is how much more we have when we work togther. My neighbor had a generater to share (helped save some food) my dad had extra gas. I had a full tank in my car to run water to my grandmother who lost water with her power. I got Ice early to share. We all had plenty of food in the freezer to use or loose

I hope your communities recover quickly. I believe we could all learn a lot by living without the toys and such for a while. It might help us get in touch with others. I will keep all in my thoughts and prayers. See all real soon, Lois

Thanks, Lois and everyone else out there thinking and praying for us. Really, there are others who need it WAY more than we do.

Kimberly,
I didn't realize there was so much damage from Ike! That is horrible!!!! I hope you get your power back soon!

My kids and DH have been "dying" to watch TV its so sad how much time we spend vegged out. I sent them outside to play or take a walk. At least the weather is so nice now that they can go out and we don't have to worry about the sump pump

I got to reread some of Twilight. I will take twilight over TV any day:)

We took all electronic toys away cause you never know if you might just need to batteries for something else.

:lmao: Yeah right!!

I can't tell you how many times I've received the same comment or completely blank stares!

I did put a packing slip on the outside. I mailed mine UPS (Jen, for a 10 pound box, it only cost me $6 with our corporate rate....I don't think USPS could do any better than that!), so I just put one of the plastic sleeves they make to slip the shipping/billing slip into on the outside and placed it in the sleeve on the slide of the box.
LMAO I get the same stares , so obviously they dont DIS lol.

Man I should have checked UPS maybe the brown men would have saved me ... oh well mine was $20 ground USPS ( I supported you Jen LOL):rotfl:

DH says to me.... So are "we" all packed yet? :confused3 All he has to do is Pay for it and Show up :rotfl: He knows better to ask if I packed his bag or did I make arrangements for this or that..
HAHA thats E

EMPTY!!!!!
WOOOHOOO lets hope they stay that way...

HAHA P and J would be doing that I can see them now draining my car battery playing ps2 LOL.

We are not taking any movies for the laptop or the gameboys this trip. They will have reading and homework to do along with all the fun cruise/park stuff. Plus need more room for my F/E and S/M gifts LOL

Oh, my DH will also try and do that.. My response... Was it on the list? He says umm.. no??.. :confused3 but.. and I say No buts.. Not on the List Not in the Bag.. too Bad soo Sad
E's not going to have a suit to take if he doesnt take it to get altered soon. He has no complaints either cuz he is off till we leave, YA you read that right poor kid started his vacation yesterday.

Hmmm...thinking more and more about buying the Twilight series. I started reading the first chapter at the book store and it sounded interesting.

I hope you get your power back soon! Where in Ohio do you live?

So I go to pack today...start putting the various "piles" into the suitcases, and then I lost track of what I packed. :lmao: anyone else do this?

I would keep packing, but my kids are still wearing half the clothes I am going to pack them for vacation.

Okay, clarification.

The famous post with all the information says Cozumel: 8:30 AM. Is that the docking time, or the all ashore time? I'm thinking of booking a private tour to the ruins for the two big Hordlings and me, but need to be sure when we can meet the guide.

Thanks.
Julie

Wow! I think my mom's family is originally from Dayton. When I visit Ohio, I go up to the Twinsburg area. It's a nice state!

Hmmmm...now I'm really thinking about getting Twilight....

Hey guys, a child leash works great. I am serious. We took our DS on a cruise at 14 months and had a puppy lease from Target.
I'm glad you kept describing this. I thought you meant an ACTUAL puppy harness. :rotfl: I kept thinking..."I bet they got some looks!":lmao:

Ok..you guys will see the humor in this...I told my mom this morning I had to mail my box to the cruise..her response was "cruise cruise cruise..you are doing all this for this cruise..what is there to do??? You just pack and go. "
:rotfl2: I think all the planning, so long in advance, makes it much more fun!!

That's a picture worth framing!!:thumbsup2

I keep a big checklist on top of my big pile & check off what I've thrown into the pile. Otherwise, I forget what I've packed, or I think I've packed something and find out I left it at home!

Without my checklist, it's the only time I have OCD tendencies (not mocking OCD! but I'm serious). If I don't have my checklist, and I just "wing it" in packing, on the way to the airport (every single time) I start panicking and thinking I forgot something. I go through my list in my head over and over. I get all shaky and nervous trying to figure out what I left at home. So, making a list totally takes care of that problem & I don't worry about it anymore!

We're having beautiful weather today...mid 70s and beautiful! I still can't believe Ike spared us in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area (they were expecting 55mph winds here) but really messed with Ohio. Sending you guys BIG hugs & I hope it gets taken care of FAST!

I had to clean up the "packing bomb" in the dining room. *sigh* Our realtor called last night and wanted to show the house today. I just threw everything in laundry baskets and shoved it in the corner. Now I have to go back & sort everything again! :headache: Guess it's a good way to double check what I have/need?!?

Hope you're all having a good day. Reese & I had to make a paper chain to count down the nights until we leave for the cruise. Yesterday, he kept asking "Will I still be 5 when we go on the cruise?" (yes) "How many days is it again? (11) "How many hours will it be?" (no idea) "Why can't we go today?"

So we made a paper chain & it took away all the questions! We actually started the paper chain thing on our trip to Hawaii last February. I was worried how in Earth Reese was going to understand 8 hours of time passing without asking all the time "Are we there yet?" So we made a paper chain with each link representing 30 minutes. He loved tearing off a link, and he only asked 1 time the entire trip if we were getting close. Then, this summer, when we had a road trip planned and were going to drive 7 hours each day, we made 2 paper chains (one for each day) for the car. Again--worked like a charm. Since we didn't know how long it would actually take because of pit stops & such, each link represented 50 miles driven. Anyway--the paper chain is Reese's favorite tool for counting something down!! It's hanging on his bookcase and got sooooo excited when he got to take the 1st link off :)

We leave MONDAY morning o'dark hundred... that's really early!

I'm hearing the same thing from all of you... how will you be able to spot my husband? He'll be the naked one in WDW and on the ship. That man has not packed one stich of clothes. Except his golf balls and golf glove (that he went out and bought today).

My man will stick out like a sore thumb... at this point he's going for the Michael Jackson look... one glove and five balls!:rotfl:

Here's the tip of the day...

How can you spot a disney husband... he's the one with white sneakers because his wife bought him new ones and won't let him wear the ones he cuts the grass in!

I've been cruising in September for 9 years. NEVER have I seen an Atlantic like this! We're talking smooth seas, like glass!

Humor me... let's take a look at that beautiful graphic again from a different view! It's a thing of beauty! Keep those fingers crossed!

:woohoo:

I love your updates :thumbsup2

We letting our 6 year old DD do the Dolphin excursion through DCL. I'm confused where are we going? Don't say Cozumel, I know that already!:rotfl2:

Okay, I have changed my list from a to do list to a MUST DO list. It is hopefully going to be much easier to follow and I recommend it to all of you as well. I was far too stressing yesterday so last night when I was saying my prayers I felt a peace and this came to me instead.

MUST DO LIST
Live
Breathe
Pack
Leave
ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing else really matters does it?

Shore excursions

I read where many of you are doing the dolphin encounter in Cozumel through an independent tour guide. Please help me out here. How much is transportation there? and I believe I read correctly that you can spend time in the park before and after your Dolphin Encounter. I think that the dolphin encounter would be MOST AWESOME and cheaper than Disney, except food is not included in the price like the Disney beach break.

I am really thinking of cancelling the beach break through Disney and doing this or the beach break Charlie is going on.

Advice please. Has anyone done these excursions off boat before? We have only done the ones through the cruise line. We are booked for an independent one in Grand Cayman also. We are doing the stingray, reef and starfish one there through Nativeway. Anyone else with us on that one?
