I hope everyone is getting their lanyard info in to Hadley. I'm going to design the lanyards and order them in April and plan to start the process of creating the actual nametags in early May so that I have well buttoned up before it's ever time to start packing for the trip!! :thumbsup2 So, if you want lanyards make sure you contact Hadley with all the needed info.....and to those of you who have generously volunteered to be part of the lanyard team and underwrite the cost of the lanyards....I'll be getting in touch with everyone via email or PM once I have a final count on how many we need and can calculate the total cost and figure out what everyone's contribution will be.

By April first everyone. APRIL FIRST. We need to have the count by then.;)

Hey Everyone....

Airfare: We are booked on AirTran. We almost always fly Airtran to WDW. I can't say they're my FAVORITE airline....but they are the cheapest for us---hands down.....and my motto is "The cheaper the airfare, the more I can buy!!" :lmao:

Halloween Party: Jason and i are definitely doing it with Hadley and her bunch before the cruise. We could technically do any of the dates between the 19th and the 27th....however we really want to be able to enjoy it Sandi and her family (HoagiePie) and with Chris and Rob (and perhaps Deanna and her bf if they're coming early, too)....and I am not sure that any of them can come except on the 26th.....so that may be the night for us. (I'm waiting to find out which nights will have a DVC discount, too)

How is AirTran in terms of service? Is it one of those airlines where they don't assign seats? I'll be flying alone with the 4 kids, so I wouldn't want to get separated.

Also- now I'm really thinking about MNSSHP if we can get a good DVC discount. I wasn't going to, because money is going to be tight due to dh's deployment and having his salary basically cut in half for the next year.

My family is planning to go to the MNSSHP the Friday night before the cruise. Are the tickets on sale yet?

We decided to stay at the Polynesian Thursday and Friday night before the cruise because we can check in for the cruise there at the hotel and avoid having to do that at the port. We did this last time and walked right on the ship after checking in with the kids club desk to get our pager. Worked out nice.

Joe and I fly AirTran out of Philly most of the time. They do assign seats either at check-in or you pay $5.00 per seat and pick them when you purchase your tickets. Are you still planning on flying out of Philly? We are on the 10AM something flight the morning of the 26th. If you get on the same flight we can always help you with your luggage and the kids. We are doing the MNSSHP after the cruise on the 5th. When are you heading home? We are leaving on the 7th. Do you know when we will see the DVC discount and dates for the tickets?

Thank you so much for your offer. Right now, we're flying out (or planning to) the 24th as early as possible. Planning on Philly because we live here, and going to AC or Lehigh Valley probably isn't worth it. We're staying at DW a few days before the cruise.

It's good to know we can check in ahead of time. While I'm sure people would gladly change seats to avoid sitting with one of the 4 year olds, the bigger kids might get stuck with strangers like they did in China.

I think they go on sale May 1, but I'm not sure.

I never heard that you could check in at the hotel unless you do land and sea. Do you have to use Disney transport to check in at the hotel, and is it limited to specific resorts? We're staying at CR before, but planning on leaving early for the port and using a van service.

Thanks
Julie

I don't know how do do the quote thing, but Julie wrote:

You know, I am not sure. We are not doing the formal Land and Sea package, but we are using the Magical Express transportation. We have always used Magical Express and it has worked out great. I don't know if check in at the hotel with DCL is conditioned on using Magical Express or not. It may be, because once you check in with DCL they tell you when to leave your bags outside of your room and they end up in your stateroom on the ship without you having to do anything. I could ask for you.

As far as hotels, no. You can only check in with DCL at hotels where the DCL bus picks up. If CR is the Contemporary, the answer is no. We wanted to stay there but the DCL bus does not pick up there so we would have had to move our bags to either the Grand Floridian or the Polynesian (these are the closest hotels to the Contemporary that DCL picks up at. So we just switched hotels. We stayed at Carribean Beach resort last time and were able to both check in with DCL and catch the bus there. Most of the Delux and Moderates have this, but not all.

Hope that helps.

doug46, isn't it Magical Express from the airport, and DCL transfer from a Disney resort to the ship (or the Orlando airport)? I just don't want people to miss the fact they need to pay $69 per person for the transfer to the boat, and the ride from the airport to the Poly is free.

doug46:

Thanks for the information. Yes, CR is the Contemporary. I have to see how much transfers cost for five (maybe six) versus getting a van. Any idea how early you can leave?

Thanks again.
Julie

If you are doing a 7 night cruise and staying at a DCL designated hotel the night before, and purchase Disney bus transfers, you can only check your luggage ahead to get to the ship. You do not actually check in for the 7 night cruise, you do that at the port. We stayed at the BCV the night before our 09/07 cruise and purchased Disney bus transfers. We did this because we did not want to carry our luggage from WDW to Port. It worked out well for us, 2 couples, and our luggage showed up in our cabin. The only negative issue is that you don't leave WDW until after 11:30AM. We had booked all our reservations, Palo, etc online so we didn't have to make any changes at the Port. We arrived around 1:30PM, no line at check-in, and we just walked onto the ship.
We did check in at the cruise desk the morning before, and they checked us off and told us what time to have our luggage ready for pick up in our rooms the next morning.. We met in the DVC solarium and then got on the bus.\

Update: We only purchased one-way transfers @$30 per person. They have since gone up but we were locked in at the old price. We rented a mini-van from Thrifty for our return to WDW and airport.

Wo! Just saw the price after I posted. It'll be cheaper for us to get a van. We are taking ME from the airport, probably. Not sure yet since some of the vans do airport to WDW to port to airport as a package. I thought the DCL transfer was a little cheaper than that.

Julie

Thanks also shoes99. We tried to book tea online last time (tea is the thing we can never get) but had trouble with our Castaway Club number. I'm getting up in the middle of the night to do it this time.

Thrifty's vans are $63-128/day, with an offer for 10% off if you use an AmEx card (code: AX10).

If you give me a price range and size, I'll try and help. I said Thrifty because they allow one way rentals without an extra charge and are close to the boat and in the MCO terminal.

Thanks. I'll keep it in mind. We usually drive, okay, dh drives. I just got my license two years ago the last time dh was supposed to get deployed. This flying, renting/busing is a new thing for us.
